Im so glad I found this video because this is exactly what I’m dealing with every night. I barely get any sleep in my apartment because of the annoying clicking sounds . It happens when the heat is turned on and sometimes when its turned off. It can go on for hours. Its usually pretty loud and its driving me crazy.Maintenance in my building didnt do anything to help the noise, all they told me is that there isnt a leak smh and they didnt fix the issue. I will definitely be contacting them again about this issue now that I know what could be causing it.

I have this exact problem in our master bedroom, but it's more of an annoyance than anything - not something I want the hassle of cutting and repairing drywall and repainting to resolve. Oddly, I didn't start noticing the noise until this year, and we've lived here over 10 years. I am not sure what would cause the issue to start after years of it being a non-issue... However, I can say that the noise started after both getting a new hot water heater as well as having some boiler work done (not a replacement). So maybe something is at play there. It's not clear to me if the pipes at issue are from the hot water heater or the boiler, but I think it's the hot water heater. I've begun playing with the temperature on the hot water heater (lowering it) to see a reduced temperature in the water can get it to stop. But no luck yet...

Really useful video thank you. Having watched a few videos on knocking issues (radiators or pipes) is it fair to say that the actual vibration which is leading to the pipes knocking may have an underlining cause? One very good video explained what happens when a non-return valve is positioned the wrong way round leading to a knocking effect and seemed to suggest this might be quite a common error by installers. It also suggested knocking can happen when a radiator thermostatic valve is installed at the wrong side of a radiator leading to a hammer effect within the valve. What's your opinion? (Other than I should go back to my day job! 😅)

Great work again pal , whoever done that instal was a right pleb , why would you have red hot pipes going under electrical cables with 0 protection , maybe they wanted a fire but im sure the homeowner didn't ! Your lagging should at least provide a better barrier and be fairly safe but even then i don't like the way they have done it.

G there is stuff they done that I can’t show! They got kicked out of the job anyway and rightly so.

Totally against regs. The electricians should be prosecuted for this work. That run is wrong in so many ways.

What if that exact sound is happening in my ceiling

That means you may have central heating pipework running in the ceiling

My landlord got two professionals around who said that it will be impossible to fix the clicking pipes. According to them it has nothing to do with insulation and simply just pipes expanding. But, the pipes did not do this before. It has become bad over time. Is it really true that nothing can be done? :(
@UrbanPlumbers4 жыл бұрын
Nada Sabbagh not sure, depends on a situation and access to pipes

How could I fix this exact problem but in a heating element like an electric in-wall heater?
@UrbanPlumbers5 жыл бұрын
No idea really

How dangerous is this? Like if it’s rubbing against each other will it burst?
@UrbanPlumbers3 жыл бұрын
Unlikely to be dangerous unless it is seriously restricted. It may loosen fittings over long time in some cases, but usually it is just a harmless nuisance

I am living in a unit in Melbourne and I hear this stupid popping noise. Thank god you are the plumber but what about us? I cannot just easily fix the issue like you do.... I hear this noise from living room, study room and master room everywhere. So I would need someone who can fix this by removing all the plasters? LOL Seriously the quality of construction is really shit here.
