Hi, I'm Maria Marlowe, a certified Holistic Nutritionist. I'm known as the Acne Nutritionist, as I've helped thousands of people clear their skin from within, using food as medicine for over a decade! I once had acne so bad I refused to leave the house and had a nervous breakdown, but then I discovered the power of food as medicine, drastically improved my eating and lifestyle habits, and my skin cleared up. I was so blown away by the changes I experienced, not just in my skin, but with my mental health and overall health, too, that I changed careers to study nutrition and cooking so I could help others achieve radiant, glowing skin and vibrant health, too.

71 and my skin is as oily or oilier as it was at age 16. I live with a lot of stress, I don’t eat enough vegetables for fiber. I use 2% salicylic acid toner to clean my face morning and night because it keeps zits away. I do drink a lot of water because I have chronic kidney disease. I will try your tips-thanks.

I really really liked how you explained everything so well. The one about diary products having IGF-1 is such a great tip! I hope this works out for me. I’ve had oily, shiny skin since puberty 😢

Going on a low carb diet was the best thing I did for my skin. I couldn't even use a moisturizer before that because it would make my acne worse, I guess since the bacteria was already growing the moisture let it grow faster. Now that my skin is less oily I can use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer, which further reduces the oiliness of the skin

Turns out that one of the medications I'm on depletes the body of zinc, once I added zinc to my diet my sebum production normalized.

I am worried that Oat Milk is high glycemic load / highly refined, can you make a video about this? Based on your video I think high carbohydrates could be a reason for my oily skin --- fascinating!!! Thanks for this video!

What should be the skincare routine?

dude if you actually want cleaner skin use cerave sa cleanser 3 times daily , cerave moisturizing lotion every time you wash your face so 3 times also and start using retinoids in the night before bed and a physical sunscreen combined with a hat for maximum uv protection . dont waste your time with this less sugar more fiber unbreakable healing crystal stuff . u actually need to remove all oil that isnt inside of the skin. meaning all oil that fills the pours of the skin else it will either harden and block the pours causing acne or bacteria get involved and consume it producing white waste and also clogging the pour causing acne. then simplay moisturize the skin using a good moisturizer. lastly start with over the counter retinoids and work your way up to getting a perscription for accutane if you are still getting any acne at all after 6 months. accutane permanently reduces the amount of oil that the skin makes which makes it easier to remove all excess oils and thus physically prevents acne.

@@blank0the0new91I did some research and a lot of people say that after stopping accutane the oily skin returned 😔 I also doubt doctors would prescribe me accutane just to help against oiliness. I had dry skin usually but I did no moisture therapy for a while meaning I didn’t wash my face with water for like 1 or 2 weeks since I was dealing with contact dermatitis/eczema and now my face has been oily since. I just want my old face back but I know it will never happen anymore. I just wish there was something simple I could do 1 daily to atleast make it somewhat better.

After 20 years of Pain in the a.s.s research into extreme oily skin and my conclusion is this… Mitochondria dysfunction and Krebs cycle dysfunction, is the difference between someone who eats whatever they like and doesn’t have oily skin, and those who are on eggshells eating carefully praying they don’t look like an oily slick. Focus ur attention on the above two areas of dysfunction, and drop subcutaneous body fat. Hey presto oily skin is no more. You’re welcome

Could you into more detail pls ? What exactly can I do to get rid of greasy skin ? I didn’t wash my face (no moisture therapy) not even with water for like 2 weeks and since my skin has become extremely greasy. Idk what to do about it it’s so depressing I don’t even go outside anymore 😔

@@Dan24.to help you in the meantime use blotting paper and a clay cleanser will buy u some hours at best. At least u can then go out right. But these are really temporary fixes, oily skin is 70% made of triglycerides, the same thing that we store in large amounts as body fat. Some ppl with very very oily skin are not using fat as energy efficiency and it ends up constantly in high amounts in the blood and u bet it finds ways to load up in places it shouldn’t. Like under the skin as subcutaneous fat. 1. Have less cutaneous fat (the source) 2. Have more mitochondria and stronger mitochondrial function like the pac man game constantly working hard to keep those lvls of triglycerides at low lvls and out of ur bloodstream Essentially diet and exercise and a few key supplements, b5 + l carnitine + green tea…. The diet drops the body fat, the exercise gets the mitochondria working hard and eventually increasing in number, and the supplements plug a few holes in the process of fat oxidation that I believe help the process. Personally I also do hot and cold conversion therapy via sauna and cold water to further aid the mitochondria recovery process. The above will get rid of oily skin, it’s not easy but it works

There is truth in this, I see it everywhere with the people I work with. They have a diet of fast food, candy, desserts and carbs and sugar, play video games and get no exercise and have flawless skin. Meanwhile, here I am have cut out carbs and sugar, been on keto/ carno diet for months and STILL cant get rid of oily skin, acne and all the dermatitis on my face...

I used to have skin that was pretty much flawless but then I got into skin care and ruined it all myself. I over exfoliated my face and now my nose and surrounding skin is oily and greasy it looks so bad 😔 I lose all confidence and don’t even want to go outside anymore
