In this video, Dr. Berg talks about a simple fix or correction for oily skin. You have a situation of overactive sebaceous glands pumping out sebum. This is because of too much androgen hormone. You can take zinc to lower androgen. But what's really behind this problem is either too much stress or too much insulin. Fixing insulin resistance can really help your skin.
There is a naturally concentrated phytonutrient called DIM which can also support healthy androgen and estrogen levels. It's great for PCOS and supports healthy skin.

This is literally the most underrated video ever about curing stubborn acne. I've had acne for 5 years now and I fedl like I've tried everything. From creams, cleansers, mask, etc. Then last week, I saw a video prior to this about how Zinc can cure acne and I gave it a try. I bought Zinc supplements, and after 3 days my acne started to get off my face. My face isn't as oily as it was before. Thank God, I found the cure for it! For people out there who feel like they've tried everything and nothing has worked, I recommend taking Zinc daily!

One of the pros about reaching menopause is that my skin is less oily and it does not break out as much the way it did when I was younger and at the mercy of my hormones. I do still tend to break out a bit if I have too many carbohydrates or especially sugar, but nowhere near as bad as I used to. Now my skin seems to vary in its oiliness according to the season. My hair seems to be doing the same thing. I will look into the DIM supplements, though, because I am having other hormone issues that I could do without and prefer not to take any medication, which is why I refrain from mentioning this to anybody with a prescription pad.

Fascinating! I have the oiliest skin (great for anti-aging; bad for aesthetics). I've recently been tested for Addison's (and every other disease imaginable) and apparently my adrenals are "fine", but I find I only feel best when I eat one meal a day (OMAD) or at least less frequently. My skin has become less oily and it becomes especially balanced (no oil) when I'm doing a juice cleanse. Thank you for this gem!

*) Use bounty tissue for wiping the skin. *) Wash skin with lemon water (lemon juice mixed with water) or wash with warm water and a cleanser. *) Cut down on fatty, oily/fried and sweet/sugar foods. *) Mix some baking soda with lemon juice and coconut oil for cleaning and exfoliating skin.

Some of it is just genetic. Certain races, especially with deeper skin tones, can be very oily especially from the neck up, even if their bodies are dryer. It actually helps the skin look younger as we age, so it's not a bad thing, just annoying, especially if you wear makeup often. Just a splash of water and blot drying throughout the day can be good, and like he said, don't overwash as many people are tempted to do so.

Carbs will not cause acne (sugar will affect it for sure) but the main cause is the fats (saturated, seed oils and in some times the nuts) I had cut out seed oils for one week and I have been taking l catnitine to calm the sebaceous glands and to not produce oil, I saw a big changes. Btw I am eating a lot of rice (steamed = cooked without oil), yesterday once I ate something that has seed oils ==> acne straight away

@Dan24. I had oily skin but not too much oily. I realized it accidentally by getting infected by dengue in 2023. At that time, I couldn't eat anything, and I discovered it that time that my skin was not secreting oil much like before and later found that oily skin problems are related to carbohydrate intake. And I couldn't eat anything at the time of dengue, and it accidentally helped me to get less oil and less blackheads on my face. You can try to lower your carbohydrate intake. It really helps a lot. And also do workout daily, at least walk an hour or so. And also wash your skin daily while showering with mild soap and a cotton cloth to scrub gently. That's my skin care routine. I don't use any other products and use coconut oil very rarely.

Zinc inhibits 5-alfa redutase, which is an enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, so taking zinc will increase your testosterone. 😘🇧🇷

ok and now ? that would contradict our dear dr. or is testerone not an androgen

Without healthy levels of dihydrotestosterone, the sex drive (especially in males), will plummet. You need it. Maybe not too much, but I wouldn't go just willy-nilly assuming it bad by default and trying to reduce it at all costs. People assume that testosterone is what causes the sex drive, and it does in a way, but that's BECAUSE you need testosterone to convert into and have dihydrotestosterone at all.

Dr. Berg, huge fan here. I thought zinc and DIM (as estrogen blocker) would boost other androgens and testosterone, not decrease androgen to balance. Could you help clarify?

I've been battling extremely oily scalp, hair loss, and oily skin for over 20 years. My blood tests are normal (sex and other hormones, insulin is normal) but i still can't figure out what's causing it. I've tried everything, from supplements to anti-androgenic birth control, but nothing seems to work.

Wait, wiat, wait... Testosterone is an androgen. Zinc is said to RAISE testosterone. Zinc deficiencies have been correlated to lower testosterone. Yet, you say zinc LOWERS androgens. Seems counter to the previous statement. Also, if zinc DOES lower androgens, I'll take a little oily skin over not having low testosterone then. I dunno, seems a worthy trade-off.

I've been struggling with oily skin for years and I hate it. This is the reason why I have white heads that never go away on my nose and cheeks. I have done research on oily skin and have tried to find the cause, with no luck. so, this is very interesting. I've tried niacinamide, vitamin d3, vitamin A and L-lysin with no luck. I've also tried zinc, but the problem with that is that I don't take it everyday or often because it's 50mg tablets and it can lower copper levels. Plus I feel so bad after, like throwing up. Along those lines. I also tried hemp seed oil, which has a good balance of the omega 3s and 6s. Some days is worse than others, but I've had no luck so far in a consistently reduction of sebum production :/ I'll give this DIM a try. Hopefully it helps.
