I’m already signed up for the taster and hoping to take the full course. I am not a procrastinator (well, maybe when it comes to cleaning😂). My problem is that I sometimes have so many ideas & projects going on at once that I feel overwhelmed and jump from thing to thing!

Maybe that's how you're meant to be. I am finding that I am embracing this aspect of myself more and more. Being versatile. jumping from thing to thing I actually find my flow... I used to get overwhelmed so I have cut out many of the things I don't want to do. I have chosen which things I most want to do and been ruthlessly realistic about what I have time for. Then have prioritised the things I do want to do.

@@karenrobinson8476 I have narrowed my focus a lot but sometimes I feel like I could be a much better artist if I could focus on practicing fewer things or in some way combine them. Does that make sense? I am retired so have lots of time.

I have much of the same problems. I also overthink what I want to work on, and then I don't get much done. I have so many thoughts and ideas that I get lost in what to do. Pinterest helps stimulate, but it also draws me into too many directions, never finding the one thing to work on, my own personal creative art . I'm looking forward to finding my own creativity and direction.

❤ procrastinating is my middle name. I also worry about failing, or I’m not good enough. Who am I. Yes also imposter syndrome 😂 usually I’m occupying my time with chores or bike riding but knowing I really want to paint and create

I’m frightened of making a fool of myself. Comparison is an odious thing but h you are all artists already and I haven’t begun. Haven’t painted since I left school and I’m 87!

Hi Anne - what would happen if everyone around you thought you were a fool? As a point of comparison, no-one in my real life likes my art. None of my friends or family like it or understand it. Do I care? Not one bit! Let them think what they like while I have a good time!

I have signed up again for Find Your Joy - last year I left it because I felt out of my depth - there seemed to be so many accomplished artists so I (wrongly) felt I could not compete. I now know it is not a competition anyway but that was how I felt at the time. And I know the answer to why do I procrastinate? I am afraid of failure. So here I come - just waiting for the course to begin - to complete it this time, and to prove myself wrong! Thank you so much for the video Louise, you are an inspiration to us all !

I am a procrastinator, for sure. When I set down to paint, it usually goes well. I try to have a mindset of playing with my watercolor. When it works, I'm so pleased. When it doesn't, it's okay.

You absolutely nailed it!!! I love working on small mixed media pieces, it´s easy for me and I usually like the results I get but when it comes to large formats, I struggle a lot and I procrastinate but instead of enjoying more often doing small things, I think "I have to" do bigger pieces and I crash when I start. I´ll follow your valuable advice and do more of what I love... maybe then the bigger pieces will come... Thank you so much for talking about this from your own experience ❤

You have completely changed how I look at my art. You've given me so much courage to keep painting, painting what's in my heart, not what others expect me to paint! The joy I have now is indescribable... and you nailed it with why I procrastinate, the not knowing what I'm doing makes me freeze up so often. I've started changing gears and putting paint to paper (or canvas lol) no matter how I may be feeling. What's coming out of that are pieces that I love, because I'm painting from my heart instead of my brain! And I'm finding that doing this is improving my art dramatically.

Oh heavens, all this and more! Fear of failure/dissatisfaction, for sure, and I also get overwhelmed by having too many options (pigments, sketchbooks, should I be serious and practice a technique or play and feel guilty for not being serious.) I signed up for the taster course :-)

I never procrastinated when I was doing acrylic pouring, cos it was so much fun, messy, but fun because I never knew how it was going to turn out, but the results were always pleasing…..at the moment I’m stuck when it comes to doing anything else and I really want to explore other art styles, which is why I’ve signed up for the free 9 day course! Hoping it will free me to experiment! Everything you say Louise resonates 100% with me, so I’m very excited about it.

Weird synchronicity. Lately, I've been loving playing with India ink on small pieces of water color paper and seeing where it goes, but I don't take it seriously as my serious art is acrylic and collage. Ah hah. Thank you for helping me see what should have been obvious! You are the best!
