Yes, this was useful. You’re wonderful all bubbly and chocked full of information and talent. I hope you enjoy making these videos as much as we love watching them. I think first before you decide to use the 20 pan pallet you need to figure out if you have a spot to keep at least 2 of them because you’ probably want more colors if you free up some space. Then sit down and think about your style and the way you work. Will a bigger pallet work for you. For me it wouldn’t because my current work area is very small. Hope that’s still relevant. I didn’t see a date for when your video was made. Thanks for sharing all your great ideas.

Thanks for sharing your methods. I have been happier with buying what fits, or what I can modify to fit. I store like with like, in the past have discovered items that didn't fit my system in the weirdest places, & also purchased duplicates that did fit. (not frugal). I put a masking tape reminder to remind me where the non fitting supplies were located until they are gone. Redoing my entire craft room would be overwhelming, & I get frustrated when I can't find what I want quickly. Thank you for reminding us all, to check on each other. This has been a tough & dangerous winter.

Lindsay, Thanks for mentioning that the most important part of organizing our things is do it the way it makes sense for us. I love watching how others store their things, and craft room tours, because I get great ideas I can use, but ultimately I have to be able to use the idea because it makes sense for me, not just because it is pretty or works for someone else. You are one of the few people who seem to get that, you share how you do things, but know that each persons' brain works their own way! I hope you will consider seeing a doctor when you can get out safely, it sounds like you have way more than a cold going on, possibly strep or an ear infection? Please be careful! Also, know you are in my prayers with all this snow. Although I miss NY terribly, I don't miss the snowstorms. Thanks for mentioning that people should check on one another, I was lucky enough in NY to have good neighbors who would help me during storms, power outages, etc. . .

Lindsay, glad that you all are holding up given the weather. Nice reminder to keep your neighbors in mind and ask for help if needed. Enjoyed the storage video. I'd stick with the pan pastel palette that you can easily store. When I can't easily store stuff it ends up some place not too convenient.

Thanks for all the tips...I just might get some of my things together I think I may find some surprises in my stash which is fun. I Would stick with the 10 trays they match your other ones and you have the perfect place to put them. I dont know if it matters to you but it would also take up less space on your table when you use them...that is always a issue for me no room and things rolling around...I wish we would get some of your snow we are headed for another very dry year I have never seen our lakes and rivers so low...no garden again. Now we are having earthquakes scary . Stay warm and safe .

I like your stacked storage units! I recently overhauled my storage because I received some cubes for Christmas. I have to have everything within arm's reach of my chair or it doesn't get used. Now I have all my embellishments together and I love it! Thanks for this video series, I am enjoying it. I think the 10-pot storage would work best since you have storage for the trays.

I'd go for the 20 and enjoy them. Our snow here in CT was a cheap imitation of a storm; we had all of a couple inches to cover the icy dregs from the previous. The winds wouldn't have been enough to fly a kite, let alone prune the trees. A suggestion for another video would be to park the camera somewhere far enough away that we see your whole area all at once with you sitting in your chair demonstrating that various supplies are close at hand for different tasks. I have some movable carts with my stamping supplies at school, so when I sit at my big table, I push the carts to where a "return" on a desk would be. When I make cards, those carts are there but most of the diecutting stuff is farther away, requiring me to go fetch it, do the diecutting, then put that stuff away and work with the diecuts themselves. Seeing you "in action" from afar might help folks who are wondering how to arrange "everything" around themselves.

The pallettes for the pastels would look great displayed on the wall as pop style art. Circles and dots on posters are all the rage right now, and here you have the perfect visuals for some unique and all you own! Throw some pretty patterned paper behindit bordered with washi tape &you could even hang it above the newly-located drafting table in your WARMERwork area... (which I totally relate to, being that my craft space is in ann unheated section of a Minnesota basement. LOL) Keep up the fantastic work that you do, Warm hugs.

Love how you are storing your pastels! As for the trays, I had the same dilemma, when I made my original purchase of PPs. I got a great deal on them, so I purchased more than I normally would have. Anyways, my biggest issue was and still is storage, so I went with the smaller trays. They fit perfectly in my Alex (IKEA) drawers, and I still have growing room. Plus it solved my biggest issue......trying to figure out where I would put them on my work table, when I was playing with the PPs.

New England RI! What a mess but love how you put that out there to check in on your neighbor/elderly. Blessed my Mom has wonderful neighbors. I'm too far from her but family just about down the rd from her doesn't even call or shovel etc....for her. Pretty sad. Well, I love the distress inks for blending back rounds etc.. For me, the rectangle shape blending tool; not so good because if you stub a corner, your work gets marks...and all.... I need to try the round one and see if there is a difference. I have used the make-up sponges but they seem to fall apart as your blending...get bits of sponge in my work... What type of material are the real ones made from? Wondering if anything we could get to make ourselves... I love how well the original works/blends, and holds color with out falling apart. Long lasting also.

I understand the desire to get more bang for your buck, BUT if its not efficient!t for you its really not a deal. Seems like the smaller pallets would be better workhorses. Easier overall storage solutions as well as for using in work mode on your desk. Hope that helps! Stay warm and safe! I hope you get to enjoy the time trapped inside your home with your family. This thought would maybe terrify some people LOL but they really are this age for just a moment and it is a rare opportunity these days to just shut out the rest of the world and really be in a moment with our family, so ENJOY the inconvenience of nasty weather! For my pan pastel collection I use the pallets for 20 colors. Being 14"x11-1/4" they are not too big to handle for me. I put the pans into the pallet grooves by color strength (tint - normal - shade - dark). They are sorted on how I like to group them: one pallet for yellows and the chromoxyde green, one for greens/blues, one for oranges/reds/browns, one for violets/magentas + metallics and one for the white/gray/black. Since you found a nice storage solution using the pallets for 10 colors there seems to be no need to change that. I have no pearlescent ones and I'm not sure if I'll buy them. I have a good collection of the Perfect Pearls colors and I believe I can dust them over the pan pastels to give them shimmer. The handles for the little sponge-"sockets" are not cheap but perhaps you can get them cheaper using a coupon. At first I tried the cheap version with the eyeshadow sponges but they don't last as long. I use one socket (or how would you call it?) per color family. Even if you use a darker color you can just clean them on a piece of scratch paper or a kitchen towel and you can use them with a lighter color without spoiling it. So in the end they're not as expensive as they seem.

Great video series :) I love the three drawer pastel boxes, so had to go look those up. I have Amazon Prime, so they were cheaper there than they were at Jerry's Artarama, but great deal either place. As for the Pan Pastel trays... I found myself with the same question that you have. I opted for the 20 count tray and filled in with just the colors I needed...started with the 10 piece painting set also, then added some individual colors from the portrait shades. I have room for the larger tray as far as storing it goes, but I was thinking about the smaller trays and decided not to do so because if you have colors that you need that may be in different trays it's going to be problematic for me. I have the storage space, but the actual work surface space is limited and since the ten tray does not use it's size economically, it takes up more room on the work area if you should need to use two or more of the sets during any one work session. It's better to have the twenty in one place than I can set somewhere securely, than to risk have two trays out that might be bumped and knocked off easily.

Patricia Walker I think you are right. Maybe I will et the 20 palettes because i am thinking that if I put a peice of white paper under the 10 palettes they would make bodacious palettes for watercolors! Big spots for big washes of color!

Pat Hathaway I just searched for 3 drawer wood pastel storage box. I found several, some with two drawers also, but read the reviews. Some are only cardboard dividers in the drawers and they may work but get more negative reviews. The ones on Amazon were $25.48 and free two day shipping for Prime members. Probably still free shipping for others just not two day. The base price was almost $32 for the same set on Jerry's Artarama, and I didn't check, but I've never seen free shipping on Jerry's unless you had over a certain amount or on special sales.

I would rather have the pan pastel trays that store easily even though they aren't the best price. When I use a large water color palette I find it is hard to find a place on my table for it and I bet the large PP tray would be the same way. I haven't bought any of the PP palettes yet because I'd rather get more colors right now. Since I am really short (and the f*t word) I have to set my office chair as high as it will go and the table as low as it will tilt. Everything slides toward me! Hubz attached a piece of angle iron to the front edge and it catches pencils and markers when they slide but the individual PP pans are always sliding around. I have used pieces of fun foam on top of the table and that helps a little but after awhile it tends to want to slide too. I'll have to check out the palettes.

Stay with the smaller pan pastel storage cases. The larger ones that won't fit well will drive you crazy. Lits.

I think you should talk to that wood maker in that house (DH) to make you a try box for your pan pastel trays..than you can store them like your others Pastels

I say get the 10 set as you already have a place to store them. And confirm that pan pastels are "chalks"? Thanks!

In the US they are made by Crayola. They have a distinctive orange and green box with a drawing of a tiger on it--well, it looks like the drawing is fish now. www.dickblick.com/products/portfolio-series-watersoluble-oil-pastels/ They are considered a child's coloring product here and I found mine at the local Walgreens drug store. Office supply stores sell them too.

In my opinion, I'd go for more bang for your buck. Especially if the difference is only a couple of dollars. I'd love to see how you use your pan pastels. : )
