How to store pumpkins

In this video I show you how I store my pumpkins so I can make hot pumpkin soup during the winter season, at the end of the video I will show you what I do with the pumpkins that went bad and how you can fix it before it's too late.

Could you explain the use of olive oil? Not something I have seen in any other video. Also storing upside down or on the side is something new to me.

The idea is to rub the olive oil around the pumpkin as shown on the video, I believe the olive oil will act as a preventive layer for any disease (fungal or bacterial) while storying the pumpkins. Some pumpkins will not have a round shape so it will be difficult to store them on the side therefore you may need to store it upside down, it will prevent moisture collecting on the bottom of the pumpkin which is susceptible to rotten quicker if left standing

Can I keep pumpkin outside on counter if I had cut a slice of that big pumpkin? How long it may stay om fall weather

You could but it would rotten quicker than if it's stored in the fridge. I will have a guess and say it will take 3 to 4 days on the counter before it starts getting mouldy on fall weather since it's already cut open and the layer of protection is compromised

I stored my spaghetti squash and pumpkins on a wire rack shelf. And they lasted 9 months before they showed signs of spoiling.

Not bad, was this inside your house or in like a shed? I think if they are cured properly and positioned properly they will last a long time
