Thanks for posting. I am doing this now using your method that I slightly modified on the Backflip LPs. Instead of having a short end of line on the needle, I pulled the line even. So I did two lines with each wrap around. Only pierced each lug twice, but got four wraps.

interesting idea, thx for sharing....but why 3 times around? that seems excessive work to me if it doesn't expand one circulation must be enough to stop the tire balooning I've always taped my bigger tires from the inside but not ideal as well and kinda PITA to do although probably faster than this method but you must have wheel and tires and last few years the trend is going more to pre-mounted only (Proline no longer sell all tires and wheels seprately) you can technically use some CA uncure or bake them in oven but that is even bigger effort

Does anyone know if I could just glue the line down bc I have 2.2 badlands so the tread is not big enough to do this exactly? Thanks in advance!
@bournemouthrc43714 жыл бұрын
If you can get round the tyre and avoid tread lumps yes tie it tight and glue it down
@voyhager34 жыл бұрын
Ok thank you, hopefully this will stop my 2.2 badlands from becoming 5.6 pizza cutters

Great video! How long do the lines last before they start to break or come loose?
@bournemouthrc43714 жыл бұрын
Cheers man, I have only run 1 complete 6s pack through them and they are not showing any signs of wear yet. I think if you keep an eye on them and apply I little more glue every now and then they should last a very long time.

Hi, probably best straps in world so far, thanks for this!!! I just got Kraton 6s and making the basic and cheap upgrade before first use. So I ordered some black fishing line same as yours... I have just one concern is durability and my brand new tyres.... do you have update? Do you recommend for noob who hates ballooning? Cheers from Cambridge

Hi, thanks for taking the time to do this vid! 👍🏼 Can tyres be purchased that don’t balloon do you know to save doing this? Thanks Darren.
@bournemouthrc43714 жыл бұрын
Yes you can buy some belted ones but they are very heavy and extra weight cases more breakages

All the time i have see this done to wheels they burst every time in like 20 mins of bashing I have never see this method last but the tape trick will stop the ballooning jt need to get a gd tape that doesn't stretch put the tyre inside out tape them up and glue to rims or lock rims and the time it take is no where near as long probably 2min over standard time of setting a wheel up in the first place so u could do it on a track day if they do go with line method it time to go home if no spear tyres line up as spares
@bournemouthrc43713 жыл бұрын
Mine are still going strong 6 months later, yea I have seen the tape method as well but that adds a lot of weight to the wheels which can lead onto more damage. I will try the tape method soon and see how it compares

I have a bunch of questions...lol. I am new to this and just got my first RC car. So here are my questions. 1. Is ballooning always bad? if not when is it good and what is it good for. 2.If ballooning is always bad then why don't the tire companies make them not balloon in the first place.
@Everydaygentleman4 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty new myself but I think cost is part of it. You can get belted tires that don't really balloon but they are almost twice the cost.
@bournemouthrc43714 жыл бұрын
Good questions, no ballooning isn't always bad but can cause the tyres to explode when at very high speeds, they do make belted tyres to not balloon but then the weight of them goes up and the heavier your tyres the more things will break on bad landings
@bournemouthrc43714 жыл бұрын
Yea they do make them but be careful of weight as well 👍

@@bournemouthrc4371 that's another reason I've been apprehensive about going belted.

@podnolej77843 жыл бұрын
That ballooning is for grip
@bournemouthrc43713 жыл бұрын
Sorry but that's not correct, when a tyre balloons it becomes thinner and therefore less contact area and less grip. I can tell you from experience that you have a lot better grip when you have strapped them
