Since i only have 1 monitor i just play my games in windowed 1440p and downscale the stream to 1080p, move game to either left or right side of screen and use the rest of the screen to manage my stream, read chat and stuff like that. Less immersive as using the full monitor for games but solves alot of problems regarding logistics.

I actually don't think that the "bars" are a disadvantage. If you fit the 21:9 picture to a 16:9 canvas you can use the top/bottom for subscription/follow/cheers/etc. infos and it doesn't interfere with your picture. Otherwise you always have to change your overlay when streaming different games so the overlay doesn't block any important game info. Also your facecam doesn't get in the way.

So I have a 21:9 monitor and I want to stream. Would I change my canvas and output to 2560x1440 or leave my base canvas as is and only change my output?

@@Broba_Fett if u are planning to stream on twitch set the base canvas and output to 1920x1080 and do not tick on rescale output, you will hav to place your 21:9 game capture window on canvas as you want like top, centre or bottom

@@Broba_Fett yes, as shown in the video and in my experience KZbin supports ultrawide resolution streaming whereas Twitch max supports 1080p and only 16:9, plus there are plenty of 21:9 videos on KZbin already because it supports 21:9

Mine is 5120x1440 - I have never streamed on KZbin. I set my game to one half of the screen in windowed mode. I am going to try this, thanks for the video.

You could also play in 21:9 and expand the source within OBS to make it 16:9...yes it would cut off some of the screen to the viewer, but no black bars, and you still see everything on your screen. I found this as a good option when i streamed from my ultrawide. It essentially gives them the 16:9 screen view on stream, they just don't see the rest of the 21:9 edges of the monitor

or you wouldnt have any of this problems if you had a 32 inch instead. obviously people still want ultrawide but for twitch users, its best to just stick to 16:9; plus most youtube videos like this one are set to 16:9 so you're gonna be able to utilize the entire screen. I was considering an ultrawide, but for me, more inconveniences than benefits.

I have been streaming in UW in twitch (2150x900 60) with no problems and no bans, etc etc (yet). I have the VODs to prove it . I like the method 2 tho, it will be better for encoding to twitch because of bandwidth limits tho. Thanks for the video.

I'm not sure where you got this info or why you think you can't stream in UW on Twitch... I've done it on and off there for 5+ years. 100% can stream in 21:9.

21:9 Nots ultrawide. 32:9 is Ultrawide. 😂 It's a joke but, for real you can't do 32:9 5120x1440p on twitch at all without it looking ridiculous.

theres another method i used to do, i zoomed the Game szene in as much as possible so it fills the screen , obviously its again not the best solution as the picture gets cut off so HUD elements and parts of the left and right side of the screen aswell but it kinda looks like natural for the viewers, they just have less informations on screen :P Worked pretty well on Rocket League for example... it looks like you would play with no HUD for them but you can see them😅

So basically, we can but it has a cost for you or your viewers :( In some old games like GTA5, you can crop the middle of the screen as the HUD is centered with a lot of empty space on the edges. Some other games allow to entirely customize the HUD, so you can move it in your viewable area.

Sorry for option 3 even when I choose to stream the game in 1920 x 1080 (16:9), my game still shows bars and fits as if it was (21:9) in streamlabs, do I need to change the base canvas for this method? Thanks

Hey all, answering my own question but you have to set your base and output canvas to 1920 x 1080 (or any 16:9 aspect ratio) and then set your game to windowed mode for it to work. Borderless and full screen will emulate the 21:9 aspect sadly
