In this episode, I'll show you how I streamline my stage, deco and bailout cylinder on a back-mounted system. All you need is to have a Backplate, Wing and Harness 2ft of 6mm or thicker bungee and a decent bolt snap.
You'll always see pictures of divers with their stage cylinders at 45 - 90 degrees to their body. This increases drag and potential snags, using the bungee around the valve method I demo in this video, will keep the cylinder in line with your body - looking cool!

Brill idea and a simple and easy solution. Seeing tech divers with bailout cylinders slung as they usually are never seems to look right and goes against all of the streamlining you've been taught leading up to that stage of training. Well done and keep up the great work!

When you are streamline, diving is so much more efficient and easier. I have been doing this for years.

Great video! I hope people make these changes to their setup. So many people out there with their stage tanks just flapping around.

Melt the cut ends of your bungee to stop Em fraying, it’s a much tidier job 😊

Nice. But your D-rings are quite a bit of to start with. Chest D-ring should be much higher, and hip D-ring a little more to the side/back. This will streamline more.

Is the choker around the tank neck bungee or a solid piece of rope?

Any view on a sliding d ring on your hip to adjust the trim when the cylinder becomes lighter or is it not needed?

The few times I’ve dived with my Ali80 it’s felt like it was a mile away from me even though I’ve shortened the bolt snaps right up onto the cylinder

Yeah I have two fixed ones for near my buckle for the latter end of the dive and two sliding for the start, hope that makes sense

Sometimes their positions are as hard to sort as getting enough time in the water, revisit them bolt snap positions and try the two d rings on each side, one that slides back to front, the other right down near the buckle

@@AndytheNorthernDiver cheers mate appreciate it. I’m doing my first ccr course in stoney in July so ideally need to get it nailed before rocking up to that. I’ll get it set on my twinset right before hand. My ap has been adapted to take a standard back plate and wing
