I love this, I have been doing these stretches after exercise with my horse and have noticed a big change in her. Please make more kinds of these videos as I love to learn and increase my knowledge to make my horse comfortable. Could you also make like a weekly training routine (what you do each week before and after) and also would like to see a day in the life of Lauren 😊

Wonderfully informative video. I will definitely try these on my horses. My first thought when you started with rubbing the face is how many times do horses rub on their people or the whatever is convenient when you take the bridle off, now I know why!

I've been doing the front leg stretches, carrot stretches, and the hind end tuck for quite awhile as shown to me by a couple local professionals, and I think it really has helped. Your video is extremely informative, and I'll definitely be referring to it again! I'd love to see more if you ever feel like it! Love how attentive you are to your horses.

Such a good practice. I only cleaned my horses after a ride with a natural sponge.on their faces, never did any of these great things-maybe generational difference-but an improvement in horse care. My poor Eventers only got good warm up stretches before we went cross country; didn’t know sh/do only after exercise.. glad I never injuries a horse. I’m thinking ‘if I had known...” I also only did leg checks when taping and washing. You are so much better than I ever was.

Aaah, I can't wait to go try some of these on my horse! We did do some front stretches before, but this gives me more to do with him. He'll be 20 next week, and is currently lame, so our only time together is grooming. but he should be able to handle a few of these stretches as he recovers. Thank you for posting this!

Thank you so much for sharing your stretching routine! I was wondering if you could provide any information relating to caring for a horse's back (stretches, massaging, ice/heat, etc.). Of course finding the right equipment, vet involvement, and perhaps chiropractic work is essential, but I was wondering if there's anything I could do on a daily basis to help my horse's back feel the best it could be. This was really helpful to watch and I'm looking forward to incorporating this into my routine! Thank you so much, Lauren!

Every single thing you said here, I've said to my students. :D The hind legs are so difficult to explain to riders----we've had so many kids panic when horses pulled their back legs from being picked, and I explained that they are holding the hoof up WAY too high---that it's hard for a horse to hold that position. I then showed them how to hold the hind hoof and support it low and pick out quick, but you know how people are---either too fast or far too slow. I only teach more advanced riders basic stretches because I worry that they may over do it. Lauren, may I link this video to my social media? It's sometimes good to hear the same thing said from someone different and with visuals...and a cool Irish accent! :D

I love doing the hind end tucks.The best is when you hear a horse crack his/her spine while tucking their pelvis and doing the sit-up.

Great video Lauren! I'd definitely be interested in another one with more stretches you use. My boy has Equine Touch sessions semi-regularly and we've done some of these stretches before (or variations of them). It's so nice when you see them relax into the stretch and start to become more comfortable with them.

This is amazing!! I definitely would like more of these types of video :) maybe some that are specific to discipline, or maybe stretches that could be done for horses that are tight through the back (my mare, when in season). I would also love any content you could produce about polework and why you do the exercises you do as they're so important for strength

Very interesting! My quarter horse (he has a bodyworker as well, but didn't show us nearly as much detail about the stretches!) is building topline and has quite a prominent scapula due to a ton of muscle tightness. Excited to try some of these with him.

Really good video! I think it's so important to stretch yourself and your horse. I stretch my horse if we've been jumping (usually once a week or every two weeks) and if we have had a lesson that's when I do it. I can't do one minute but we usually get around 28 seconds! Which I think is really good, she was really stiff before I worked with her.

My chrio has me doing tail pulls to help with stifle strength, but now I am curious if I should be doing those after riding instead of before like you advise with these stretches?
@LaurenAllport5 жыл бұрын
those are more of a strength than stretch exercise, so before or after is ok :)

“If anyone sees you, you may look a little strange” Yeah it looks like you’re rubbing your middle area on your horses leg. Can you please go more into detail about stretching out a horse please? Why do you only stretch legs after not before? I ride cross country in Australia and this will help my horse out thank you. Also... is there any other back stretching I can do before saddling up?
