I share my top tips on how to stretch your relaxer without too much breakage. These tips are also great for those who choose to transition without the big chop. Stretching is known as prolonging the time in between relaxers

I've noticed on my journey that people don't realize that everyone has very different hair and they must use these videos as a guide not the rule book. Great video

I think ppl make hair more complicated than it is.Our hair grows just fine when u put it in a style in leave it alone . Of course moisturize grease nd wash trim ends basic simple stuff. Our parents use to do our hair Nd it grew nd never used all that stuff nd never needed any of it. Our hair grew just fine.

Thats tru bcause i usually use castor oil and grease the scalp once a week and even after a wash routine and my organics Hair mayonaise it goes a long way 🙂

Our parents used hair grease too. That's the key! Keeps the hair and scalp moisturised and conditioned, minimises breakage.

Do you know what, dear? You deserve more likes for this video because you're the first relaxed hair KZbinr that has stated how to care for new regrowth! I've been searching, but all the other KZbinrs talk about is how to care for relaxed hair but I strongly believe the key to growth is also knowing how to care for that regrowth. 💕💕💕

Love the video! Great points about finding the right time frame for relaxing your hair. I hate when people tell you that you have to relax every 3 months or more as if everyone has the same hair type.

Do not strech your hair over 6 months because you get use to your natural hair and you get curious about your real texture and wonder how it would look all natural. After 6 months of struggle you feel that maybe, just maybe, you can try this natural thing. After all the relaxer box will always be there... Then next thing you know you big chop and become all natural. Moral of the story, don't ever stretch over 6 months. 😂😂😂 I am kidding. Do what you want with your hair, natural is beautiful, stretching relaxed hair, texlaxe, texturizer, relaxed hair too, wigs, weaves, extentions. It is all good. 😊👌🏾

I have experienced some breakage as a result of over processing (my fault). I am trying to stretch for 12 weeks before next relaxer and give myself a good trim.I usually relax every 8 weeks without any problems. I do self relax. Good video. Thanks for sharing.

Very informative video. I was natural for 2 years and then relaxed my hair. Prior to being natural I had become accustomed to relaxing my hair every 5 months. I knew then that longer than that was trouble for my hair. This time around I stretched to 4 months but forgot that I had to gradually get to this point. I see alot of breakage in my hair. Maintaining healthy hair takes alot of observance 🤦🏾‍♀️. If I could get braids without them hurting soo badly...I would always keep my hair up and away.

Im now 3months post. 2 more week to go in Soo excited can't wait .

I relaxed all of my hair for the first time 3 months ago but got braids 2 weeks ago to stretch it out. I want to keep the braids in for another 3 months then relax and try to keep up that routine with having relaxed hair for 4-8 weeks then get a longterm protective style for 3-4 months. Thanks for the tips!!

Protective styles are not meant to be longer than 2 months. Keeping them in longer than that is not healthy and can definitely lead to breakage!

I wish I saw your video sooner. I'm new to relaxing my hair (wasn't allowed to as a child) and stretched it for too long trying to keep it healthy haha (oh the irony). Apparently my hair just randomly started breaking off in the middle and front of my head in chunks and I couldn't figure out why. I stopped using all forms of heat, and have been wearing wigs, using rice water, and coconut oil for close to a month now. I think I'm going to relax it again and continue using the products that I have been since if I just stop all together the processed hair is just gonna fall out eventually as the new hair comes in anyway and can't be saved. I never knew or thought about my new growth being stronger than the relaxed hair thus making the straightened hair break off. I feel so stupid xD I have high porosity hair and my hair texture is 3B/3C, but I guess it reacts to stretching more like 4 type hair I suppose. Anyway thank you so much for sharing this!

Great information as usual, I would normally stretch for 12 weeks but have decided to go natural, I am right behind you at 4 months post and I have 4b medium density hair that is low porosity. I have stumbled upon rice water rinse, and when I say it's a game changer, I mean it has 100% made my hair tangle free and super soft after one use. I would highly recommend you research and try it. Please continue making hair videos as we are are the same journey and I really like your content😘

So this year was my first stretch. I went about 11 weeks before getting a relaxer (doesn't seem like much but I used to relax every 5-6 weeks before starting a healthy hair journey). My stylist (I don't self relax) said I needed to cut back to 6-8 weeks because my new growth was hard to work with. When I hit about 8 weeks I mostly did protective styles like twists or low ponytails so i didn't do much with it. can I still stretch to 8 if maybe I put more effort into detangling or managing it. I just didn't want it to break by combing it every day. I want to keep stretching because my hair is a bit damaged and I want to take longer breaks from relaxing. I have like somewhere between 4a and 4b hair.

yes, make sure your hair is properly moisturized and sealed before protective style to keep it soft and manageable

i'm in a bit of trouble you see 😩 so my hair is texturized and is very strong but im afraid it might break off. so basically i usually get my hair texturized every 7/8 weeks but currently ive been stretching my hair for about 15 weeks (about 3 months, nearly 4 months) thanks to my box braids, but i was meant to get my hair texturized this saturday (i was gonna take my braids out on friday) but thanks to the corona virus my stylist said she had cancelled all her hair appointments, which means i can't get my hair texturized :/ imma still take my extensions out, but after washing it imma put in some other but much shorter extensions in that are shaped in like a long bob in order to preserve my hair and prevent me from having to touch my hair and cause even more damage.

I've stretched my relaxers bu two months. But I can't say if the breakage/thinness is coming exactly from the relaxer itself or from stressing it. I'm thinking about transitioning(not the big chop), but then I get scared.

Could you also determine based on your growth rate? I'm a very slooooow grower less than 3 inches a year which is less than 1.5 in six months. This is part of the reason why I think as a 4c I could get away with relaxing just once a year and still grow long gorgeous hair. I've been tempted to try it and see but my husband would go into cardiac arrest if I got a relaxer. I've been natural, loc'ed or in braids for the last almost 30 years.

Telling ppl to get relaxed when they're having breakage is wrong. If you're having breakage that means your hair is WEAK. The solution is to stretch longer so the new growth is thicker and you have less chance of over processing again.
