I am 5 months post relaxer. I stretch mine by deep conditioning under heat weekly and using Luster's Pink Gro Complex on the roots, with light a heated, ionic brush at a low heat setting (250F / 120c). And I also have to brush my hair daily and put my hair up overnight; I will at least use a Wet brand detangling brush. I am also experimenting with Olaplex 3 to help keep my hair strong.

I switched to a new liquid leave in (cream of nature) in December. I moisturize and seal my hair every 2 days and I still was noticing breakage on my ends. I did see the extent of it until I straighten my hair at the end of January. I’m protein sensitive and realized this had wheat protein in it like on the 3rd ingredient. So I switched to a new leave in by Ion Moisture Miracle Leave In Conditioner and my hair loves it. But now I have like 1/2inch dip in the middle of my hair, so I’m cutting it for relaxer day in March. Small set back but glad I caught it.

I have pretty thick coarse hair recently I’ve started stretching my relaxer to 10 weeks to start. Being as my hair is so thick it needs to be moisturized. Any recommendations for LIGHTWEIGHT moisturizers that won’t weigh my hair down and a thermal protector you swear by my hair gets frizzy easily. I’m using the treseme keratin thermal protectant and that kinda leaves my hands a little sticky not a fan. Also any tips for keeping ends of hair healthy? Thanks in advance!!!

Hi, i usually have attachments on my hair when i leave to uni. After a month or so, i loosen it and wash my hair without relaxing it so i get a lot of new growth, what my course mates refer to as due hair or undergrowth, like it is a bad thing. They keep telling me that my hair will cut if i don't relax it. I normally ignore this but i need advice on how to take care of my hair as it is difficult to cream, comb and braid it. Please help😣 I also need some advice on what to apply to my hair to ensure better growth and softness.

Thx 4 sharing . I just reached my 3 months stretch. Prior to this stretch , I would relax my hair every 8 week and notice my edges where thinning. I don't do co washes but i do Diy dc. with my favorite condish which is mix chick kids conditioner and organic melted mango butter, oils of my choice olive , peppermint (esstial oil) and vit e . That is like the foundation for my hair for the whole week despite how frigid the elements are. and then I moisture and seal with h2o and olive oil or joba oil until my wash day( once a week) and start that process over until i get to my relaxer day. This has been a game changer for me . Next year I hoped to do down to 3 relaxers a yr.

I think it's important to discuss "THE TYPE" of relaxer you have when giving these tips. Do you go to a salon or diy? thx

I have always relaxed my hair on my own since I got my first perm ever in high school about 6 years ago, and my hair has always been nice and thick, never got too far past my shoulders tho, I’ve always had a BAD shedding problem. A couple months ago I went to a hair salon and got my hair permed and now my hair isn’t as thick as it was before, it’s still shedding and I really just don’t know what I should do.

EllaChar, after shampooing with a moisturizing shampoo, try a black tea rinse. Pour bouling water over 2-3 tea bags in a coffe cup. Let cool and pour tea in a spray bottle. Saturate hair and cover with a cap. Leave on about 30 minutes. Deep condition and style as usual. If you want longer hair, you should try stretching your relaxer. Hope this helps! 🙂

heyyy i hope you found a solution by now for hair shedding but if you haven't try a soap called SAL3. it is a soap with sulfur in it and has a bunch of benefits for the skin. i used it from when i had excessive shedding from another terrible hair product i was using and it literally stopped my shedding instantly. i was shook and so thankful i wanted to cry. My hair was shedding like a bad lace wig. smh 😡. i had no idea it would work for my hair bc i initially bought it for my skin. but i was so desperate and it was just chilling in my bathroom cabinet so i tried it lol. i purchased it on Amazon. it is kind of pricy for a soap but i believe it can help. Also to all my relaxed ladies and gentlemen, because relaxers break down the sulfer and hydrogen bonds (strength) in our hair to make it straight, it may be a good idea to use a quality sulfer based shampoo every now and again to strengthen your hair. Im not a licensed beautician/cosmologist. so please check with a hair care professional before listening to me lol goodluck ❤

So I’m not too good with managing my hair, like I keep it washed and conditioned every week and I thought I was keeping it moisturized enough but recently I found out that I had a small little area of breakage in the back. Don’t judge me but I honestly do not know how to style my hair so I keep it clipped up or in a ponytail. I’m starting to wear it down now though because I don’t want anymore breakage like that ya know? So here I am on KZbin researching videos on hair and I come across this video. So now I’m writing a comment hoping to get tips and ideas on how to better treat my hair🤷‍♀️

Hi I'm new to your channel. You're quite informative, but fun. Wondering: How do you keep oils from transferring onto your pillow cases at night after you moisturize and loc in oils?? If you put on a plastic cap covered with scarf, you'll wake up with "wet" hair..like a hot oil treatment overnight. Also, have you ever heard that Jamaican castor oil could cause your scalp to itch?

@stacey1244
@stacey1244 5 жыл бұрын
Cowash = condition wash only. It's suppose to provide added moisture 🤷🏾‍♀️
@denyshadials5702
@denyshadials5702 5 жыл бұрын
Amanda Clare It’s not new, but it is hit or miss with relaxed hair. The benefits are: added moisture, it’s only one step=quick wash day, and (not necessarily important for relaxed hair) it makes your curls pop. So for naturals it’s a gem 💎. IF it works for your relaxed hair, it’s much easier to comb/brush and style, regardless of the amount of new growth. I recommend Eden Bodyworks, worked beautifully during my transition. There’s also AsIAm, but it tangled up my relaxed hair badly... Also rinse out conditioners tangled it up without using shampoo. Depends on your hair and the products. It might not make sense to you, because conditioner on straight hair makes it flat, sticky, weighed down and clumped together in one huge chunk. On natural hair it’s the opposite.

Hey girl! Thanks for sharing your videos. I've been hoping to grow out my hair and just recently decided to get serious about pairing my shampoos/conditioners for maximum hair moisturizing and strength. I have DEFINITELY been struggling with the breaking issue when stretching out my relaxers. Been experimenting some to find the right moisturizing plan for me. Thanks so much for the tips!!

Very course kinky hair cant hold out for 6 months. It will break off. Softer hair can hold out longer. I had to relax every 6 weeks to keep it from not breaking off. My hair was extremely healthy when it was relaxed too.

This was me for years but I’ve been stretching for the past year to three times a year. My new growth is hella difficult to manage 😭 but I try to keep my hair braided so that helps.

I have very coarse hair 6-7 weeks max. 1 of my daughters has curly hair she does twice a year. These are great tips though for transitioning but for if had to do all that to stretch a relaxer I probably would just go natural.

Why get a relaxer at all if you don't want to regularly get your hair done and you want a lot of new growth. Just stay natural.
