So a few people have asked us how they can string their own feather (maybe you wish to create your own with cool beads or different cord)... :-)
This video is our step-by-step how to on stringing your feather. We hope this is easy enough for you to follow!

This young lady greets us with Anjali Mudra, Namaste. Which basically respresents a greeting of respect of one another. How disrespectful some of the comments are here to one another...She also states in the beginning when showing us the feather that it is hand made and not real. Thank you sister for your video. Absolutely clear and concise. Namaste to you as well and sharing your tutorial. I found it very helpful for a project I am working on.

You can use any sized or type of string for this and also any feather. In the video we are using a 1mm nylon string which is often sold as waxed cord. I hope that helps.

Ur method was nothing like the traditional method of i have learned. Its a spiritual part of ceremony. Check out what my words have expressed. U can learn it @ share it . It is illegal in Canada, USA and Great Britain to be in possession of feathers of any migratory bird, such as ducks or geese, or any bird of prey. Even feathers of the American Crow are illegal!!!! How do you get around this to make your stuff??? It is specifically stated that no feather shall be used for costumery or jewelry. Please tell me. I need to know!!!

I know I am not the person you asked but that law only prohibits feathers off birds that cannot be hunted or raised domestically. Atleast in the U.S not sure elsewhere.
@FeatherTribe

Hi Joseph, we "get around" this by not actually using any real feathers. The "feather" in this video is a replica hand carved from fresh water farmed shell.

There are many wild type bird feathers that you can possess.

Fucking moron... Didn't you know that the government of every one of those nations takes dead birds, sheltered birds, and quarantined birds and sells the feathers to companies to make items from? So there goes your 'law.' It's a business for them, and they do not want YOU to make profit from 'selling' feather items. Get a grip and understand things before you spout off and become a moron.

Aidenn D. Aidenn D. Fucking Moron... didnt you know that it's the "Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918" that makes it illegal to posses any part of a migratory bird due to declining populations of such birds? It has nothing to do with money. It's a protection for the birds who's populations are dwindling due to hunting and habitat loss. Granted some of the birds in this list are ridiculous, such as the American Crow but as far as other birds such as the eagle and owls and other various birds it makes perfect sense to make it illegal to posses parts of these birds. The dead birds are taken so whatever authority is concerned can document the dead bird and make an effort to keep track of bird populations. The only people who can legally posses any protected bird parts are native Americans who have certifiable ancestry and are registered with a tribe. That means it is in fact illegal to buy crafted items with feathers. So that fancy dream catcher you might have picked up... the feathers are imitations. Do a bit of research before you go berating someone for asking a simple question and making yourself out to be a complete dumb shit.

Thank you for speaking up for tribes all around the world. Its very noble of you. We however are adopting a one people's Tribe, a one planet Tribe and a one heart Tribe vibe. The days of separation are coming to a close, given evidence of so many world crisis that are calling us together as one in a shared emergency, an emergence into a one heart party. Please include yourself in that unity consciousness and rest assured you are also loved. Thank you again and bless you for speaking your truth. Thank you also for allowing me to share mine and what we are really about.

@@FeatherTribe while that’s an understandable and noble goal. This isn’t the way to go about it. As and Afro indigenous person it’s disheartening to see the very people who forbid us from practicing our cultures and being with our tribes, calling themselves a tribe. It feels like a slap in the face to my ancestors.
