It can but in reality, what is truly relevant to your application most likely won’t need more than 2 pages. If you have more than 2 pages, there are very high chances that you’ve started to go off point and include irrelevant information.

Hello Amara!! Thank you so much for this video. It was truly insightful. Is it important to include my name and course i want to study from the first paragraph? Also, is it necessary to actually include my name in the SOP?

I don’t think it’s necessary to include your name in the body of your SOP because it’s a part of your application package. However, I suggest naming the PDF document something like SOP - (your name). This way if that document gets downloaded and separated from the rest of your application package, it can still be identified as belonging to you. As for including your course of study, it’s up to you. You could include it just below the title of your SOP. For example the first two lines of the SOP could read thus - Statement of purpose (underlined) Below that, program level/course name/university e.g. MSC in Public Health at Purdue University. I hope this helps.

I don’t think it’d be impossible to get admitted, what might be more challenging is getting a visa because you have to convince a visa officer about the reasons for a switch in programs.

Thank you for this... I wrote my sop containing two pages but a friend of mine said i should limit them to 500-700words, he said that is what is acceptable for masters. But the school i am applying to didn't put a limit neither did they respond to my mail about inquiry on the maximun word counts for masters.
