@@upthink5204 ai art is not art. they're computer generated illustrations and images. there's no creativity put into generating an ai "art". you don't create an ai "art". you generate an ai "art". ai steals art from artists, mash them together and generate bunch of images. if you want to use ai as tools for looking up references or for a visual idea and plan for your art piece and then you draw your illustration on your own referencing the ai piece, it's fine. it's helpful actually. but when you just put in prompts and generate an ai piece and claiming you "made" it. do not call yourself an artist. you do not call yourself a poet when you just use an online poem generator.

For someone that's been drawing for almost 3 years and still being bad, this helps a lot. Thank you for the tips!

As someone who's past 30yo, and who's been drawing since, like, age 5, I dunno, I feel like my "art" and style didn't lose quality but also didn't improve much either. I definitely feel more confident with traditional art (ye the good old pen/pencil, paper and colored pencils, copics became a recent luxury). I do struggle with digital art, although I'm not quite awful. I am aware that I draw like, 2 pieces a year nowadays, coz, life... And when I was younger (high-school, uni) I used to draw SO.DAMN.MUCH. I legit drew every single day, sometimes for 5+h without breaks, and I draw *fast* 🌝 I remember spending time with my friend who also drew, and she did her digital art while I stuck with paper, and by the time she'd be done with each single strand of hair on her drawing, I've already completed 2... (I guess she's just slow af lol) Anyways, all the advice you gave is literally the only advice you need, and not just for art. The only way to improve is to simply draw, draw, draw some more and then draw again. As you go, you *WILL* notice where you're lacking and what can be improved, and honestly, compared to 15-20 years ago, nowadays we have so many tools and benefits on the internet, just use them properly. Cheers. ✨

And what should I draw constantly and how? Like to sketch or draw from imagination?
@Miraiana
@Miraiana Жыл бұрын
@@Avoricee This depends from person to person, and it also depends on how much/how fast you want to improve. I'm speaking from my experience, so this might not apply to everyone. When I was younger, I had less resources to use as references (this was back during the '90s when I just became aware of anime). I used to draw Sailor Moon all the time, but the thing is, I could only watch it on TV and just for 25mins a day, so most of it was from my memory. However, as I drew more, and watched more I got better little by little. I started paying more attention to the details, and this helps me even now, I try to memorize as much as I can in a short amount of time. After that, when I got the internet at home, I would look at various manga art and try to draw my own characters in similar style. Back in high-school I was a huge fan of Bleach, and I tried drawing in that style. Finally, I developed my own style some time at the end of high-school, and the "practice" wasn't much of a practice anyway, I just drew because I like drawing. However, I did start paying more attention to anatomy and shadows. My conclusion is - draw as much as you like, draw whatever you like and however you like, then, when you become comfortable drawing certain shapes, styles or fast enough, try focusing on things you want to improve (like anatomy, coloring, shadows, lineart, etc). Don't try to just improve everything at once, this will surely ruin the experience of drawing, it will become more of a chore than something fun.

@@Avoricee I think you should start with the fundamentals, like the shapes from perspective. Use as many references as you need because you need to build that visual library. What is visual library? you know how kim jung gi draw from imagination? That is visual library--he trained himself for years how to draw and visualize an object in different perspective. Try and challenge yourself to do the same, there's always something to draw. Learning art and creating art doesn't mean that you need to create a MASTERPIECE everytime you pickup the pen. Every artist, every masters of art is a master at fundamentals. Master the basics and fundamentals and by time you'll see how far you have come. I just learned of this recently and this helped me so much in improving my art. If you don't have any idea what to draw there's a lot in the internet to copy--try recreating a piece of art that resonates with you, like in digital painting ask yourself "how did this artist achieve this effect" or in perspective "how to draw this object in this camera angle" etc... In the grand scheme of things--we creative beings are held back by our own perfectionist mindsets...let go of that and you'll unlock the power you didn't know you had before. Awaken that power inside you! Learning art is a battlefield you keep getting hurt but the only way to win is to move forward.

This video definitely made me realize how I was going about drawing the complete wrong way. Especially the past several months I’ve felt that I rely on reference way too much and can’t do much of anything without spending hours crawling the web for them. I think in my quest to make my drawings as good as the images I was referencing I completely neglected to really study the piece and deconstruct it. I would instead just look at it a little bit and just try to recreate what I saw without a deliberate deep understanding of the subject. While in some cases my art would come out great most of the time it wouldn’t really come out that good and I would normally forget what I studied almost immediately after and I’d wonder why my art style would be changing so drastically (and getting worse at the same time). Hopefully I can really reflect on it and get to the root of the problem so I can be done with it once and for all and can finally have the freedom with drawing I’ve always wanted. Thank you for making this video, hope to come back to this comment in the near future a much better artist. Also ouch that statement at the end describes me perfectly, better get on it instead of looking for more videos and images 😂😂😂

It took me a few trys to fully understand what your useful tips & tricks were but after a few moments it came a lot more clear to my head. This is not just tips & tricks, but the strategys you gave out is quite literally the ultimate advice to art. The way I view art now is completely different now compared to how I thought about it so long ago. Watching videos like these kind of made have a "reset" my whole mind about art. I was so blind about art, I thought it just simply ment to be perfect at it, or somewhere similar to that. I wasn't even close to what it truly ment to be an artist. Video's like these made me stop and think about what is around me, the whole world at that. To look at every shape, angle, perspectives, shading, lighting, etc. I didn't even notice that art was all around me from the very beginning. Just by looking at a simple building, all the textures to it is art. That to me is incredibly insane to me. This really inspires me to study the elements of art and all about it. I once heard someone talk about to "draw perfectly" (like drawing a perfect circle) doesn't mean it's the only thing that is art, literally anything can be art. This opened my eyes so clearly it's impossible to describe how much it did. (Sorry I'm saying the word art so much, anyways😅) Idk why I wrote this "big college essay" I just wanted to put it out there. This topic is so much more than what meets the eye, and maybe this'll help those who are having trouble and think art is to complicated. Even your buddy stick man is art, no matter how bad you look at it. :)

When I read this, I felt like I can really relate when you mentioned about you feel insecure about if your opinion is good. If I'm gonna be totally honest, when someone tells me (or acts like) how I think is "weird" or "wrong" I feel like I should immediately change my perspective to how they view things. (Not trying to get to personal or anything here 😅) I am really glad I helped you out just as much as you did to me. I'm happy to see you enjoy really long responses like this one. 😅 I usually write a lot when I wanna go in full detail anyways. (don't mind me lol) And to be honest, out of all the tutorials on how to improve on art, I would definitely have to say your the one that really makes the easier steps that most find difficult to actually do a lot more simple than what some of it really needs to be. I like how you paid more attention to the smaller things when improving art. Motivation in art can be a lot for people to pick up sometimes if they don't feel that calmness when drawing something. But when you mentioned small but helpful methods like keeping yourself in one room for 3 to 4 hours and draw the basic things that a beginner would need to know, that may seem a bit extreme to some people. But if one is really determined to study the different levels of art, that is one very helpful way to do it. I won't keep you reading here for to long if you ever see this, but keep up the fantastic work. To me your wonderful at explaining art, you don't explain it like most of the artists I watch. I'm pressing that sub button for sure lol. I love your art style btw!

12:06 Not everyone can understand your way of wording it compared to when other people word it. I'd say this golden nugget only shines to the right person while for others, the other golden nugget which just so happens to be very similar to yours shines to them better. One more thing I'd like to say is that having a goal like "I want to be a great artist" is fine as long as the person is aware of what good artists do(which is practice a lot) because it helps motivate to actually do the practice and study needed to become however good the person wishes to be.

thank youuuu this was so helpful!!!! honestly listening to this helped me remember that the learning process is not so hard once you break it down into smaller pieces and set clear, manageable goals for yourself. i remember having watched the tedx talk you mentioned, and i remember enjoying it a lot! so i am going to rewatch that next. one thing that i worry about sometimes when i am studying is that i am just doing mindless practice, by just copying another reference without thinking about what i am doing. you described the alternative really well and basically the most important thing, i've found, is to be intentional about what you're learning. i try to do that more often, but it's hard especially since i haven't had a lot of experience with drawing until around this year. i am also trying to balance my learning process with remembering to have fun with my art, and not killing my motivation by pushing myself too hard and drawing too much at once insetad of getting the sleep that i need to function. but i absolutely love what you said about the emotional barrier to making art and overcoming that fear of stupidity, because i have been thinking about that for a long time and i am still learning how to deal with that every day. but just hearing you say it reminded me that i'm not alone in this and that there is hope. anyway thank you so much for making this cause it's so nice to reflect and realize why i'm struggling so i can work to make it better. i love your art by the way! thank you for reading all of this, :) have a nice day

The way I learned to draw was by observing what other artists do and seeking tutorials that would help with my current dificulty. Cant draw a straight line? Well you just draw too slowly and use your fingers to draw instead of using your whole arm. Cant do shading? Follow the direction of the light and figure out what interupts it. Suck at anatomy? Learn only the muscles that change the most on the surface. Your art looks muddy? Learn about edges. Your art looks flat? Learn about values....

Your channel is so underrated! You deserve more subs. Just a little tip from me, it would be nice if you lower the volume of the background music, so it won't distract us from paying attention to your voice

I am already 24 years old, they have told me that I am too old to learn and no matter how hard I practice, I cannot learn to do something as simple as torsos My problem is that I can't make my own drawings, I just do practices and more practices without understanding anything, I buy advanced books, also basic ones, but I just keep copying the studies from the book.

you can absolutely learn it and become excellent at it even at 24, don't listen to them. just try to understand anatomy by looking up pics and observing. break down body parts into simple shapes like cylinders, rectangles and triangles. most importantly, dont give up

Good video The important of fundamental is kinda crazy, because how can you study/learn/ or even correct yourself when you don’t know what you’re studying for!! I think I created a step by step for myself, and I want know if you think this is good or going to effective: Step one: learning the basics shape or elements / how the thing is formed - I want step two to be learn the basic form, but I’m not too sure if I completely understand what that means Step three: references| practicing, and studying the pictures. This is my rough draft, and it’s probably bad- but I do want to know if this bad or if I’m on the right track (sorry if this doesn’t make sense

I really needed this, I am a young artist I'm 9 and I think I'm incredible at drawing for my age. But I really needed this still for digital art. I found so many things useful! Thank you so much I subbed. I believe anyone can become a artist at ANY age as long as you put work into it, watch useful tips that will make your art amazing, and your time. Could you do another vid for backgrounds or can these tips also be useful for making background too?

when everybody would just realize that all of their problem would be solve if they just study the fundamentals the whole world would be at peace XD i see a lot of young artist immediately go to doing styluze and even studying other artist when they dont even have the basics, and they ask why their art is so inconsistent
