Since you're allowed to say basically whatever you want on the internet there's going to be some people just out to be mean. Luckily these people are the minority, and most people don't mind seeing bad artworks if the artist is trying their hardest to improve, because never being fully happy with your art is the sign of a good artist.

there's overwhelming shame in still being bad and not improving after as long as i've been drawing though. i deserve to feel like shit for being useless. the bad art you showed is better than mine after 8 years of suffering through drawing. i need to toaster bath asap legit

Really beautiful advice! I especially love the tip of drawing something at least 100 times (while using reference so that you can draw it better the next time) because of it's simplicity and how practical it is. Well done, and thank you for sharing what you are learning as you stop being bad at art lol

This video is giving positive vibes, thank you for that A few things I want to add : When talking about practicing will only get easier and easier, keep in mind it has to be looked at over time. In fact, you may often see yourself going back from a day to its tomorrow. It's not going to be easier than yesterday, rather easier than last month / year Also, I heard a piano teacher saying that, practicing 15 min a day sums up to an hour and a half of practice at the end of the week (including a rest day) and that is much more effective than practicing an hour and a half one day, then nothing the rest of the week. Because sleep time and repetition is what builds up muscle memory. But it applies to anything you want to learn really, repetition is key I'm getting much more motivated since I started not caring too much about the result and trying to get the 15 min done everyday. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes i surprise myself... But I encourage you to keep track of both goods and bads, don't throw them away, they will give you a sense of progress when looking back at them, and try adding the date it has been done on

Your art goals should adjust the criticism, if it's for fun then any art you make is always good (unless intentionally controversial then use ur logic) My personal rule (for art that has form) is, if someone can guess what it is without me saying anything then it's good art. Even a stick figure is good art. If you don't like calling it good then call it decent. Anything more is just a bonus or an upgrade. Anything less I guess means it's best to look at more reference. To make good art, you need to know good art

Again, I don't understand.... How am I supposed to "appreciate the bad art" ? Like I have goals, I have stuff I want to be able to do. And I can't do them with bad art.... It's like saying "you tried to bake a cake but everything is burnt ? Well, it eat and appreciate it anyway !" Sorry but burnt cake doesnt taste good at all and I'd rather be doing not-burnt cake that does taste good instead.... and I'm pretty sure no one wants to burn whatever they're baking... Sure the planet won't be destroyed or anything because I made bad art, but the fact that I made bad art is proof that I'm a bad artist. Like literally... You said that having this mentality makes people not like art anymore, but it's exactly because I like art that I want to be good at it and not make bad art.... None of what you're saying makes any sense to me =$ Oh and I did do 100 hand studies. In fact, I problem drew more hand than head and yet my hands are still absolute garbage

I think appreciate your bad arts in the way of knowing that these arts someday will make you a good artist. Sure you'd feel so frustrated and might see you're not having any progress but you can't give up. Also, this could be a sign for you to switch up techniques you've learnt or switch teachers/artists you follow For me, it's when I watched chommang KZbin channel early this year that I finally understood how to draw full body. I'm not a fan to draw realistic drawings but I know most good artists learn from realistic figures. It took me many years and many artists to finally "get it" but this doesn't mean my art is great It's just getting better than before that's all. Yes burnt cake isn't tasty but you'd learn there are other recipes that you still can try to bake the same type of cake albeit it could be a little bigger in size so to say. Few days ago, i don't remember from which video, I heard sometimes trying to perfect your sketch would get you frustrated faster. Be kind to yourself and know that efforts always rewards you in the end. It's easier said than done but you will be a good artist. I believe in you.
@yopomdpin6285 Жыл бұрын
@@MidoriGa95 "effort always reward you in the end" But that's not true though... Otherwise everyone would be the best at whatever they want. Life isn't that easy that you can just get what you want simply because you put in the effort. Just like it's not the bad art that will make you a good artist. It's the time, work and energy I used to not make bad art. I feel like this kind of phrase are a gross oversimplification of a complex subject and it just confuses me even more.

@@yopomdpin6285 You're overthinking it. Make bad art and you'll get better lol
@yopomdpin6285 Жыл бұрын
@@Xenderman and I think you're underthinking it. People who get better aren't the one who just do bad art. It's the one who strive to get better and study
@Xenderman Жыл бұрын
@@yopomdpin6285 Yeah, you should strive to be better. But it can take literal YEARS before your art starts to look even remotely good.
