Thank You Bolt! I loved the bonus at the end. I appreciate every bit of insight!!!Listening to the lecture while I am reading my slides helps me noting/adding any information that I may have missed during lecture. Once I get done with the slides, I listen to the recording again and follow my slides to make sure I didn't miss any information. In that way I can easily recall it and apply it. ;)

Thank you very much @BoltSRNA I am doing my BSN and this is actually pretty damn helpful! I am a kinesthetic/auditory learner so listening and "doing" helps me learn best. In my school the professors record their lectures via Tegrity, but I would much rather use your method since I can erase the irrelevant things they say which we will not be tested on. I usually study 8 hours every day and still barely passing my pharmacology class, but I will work hard to make it to CRNA school!

That is what I did during my accelerated BSN program. Im an auditory learner and had a 2 hr drive to and from class, recorded each lecture and listened to them at least 2-3 times. I like your idea to condense it with your own voice. I will try that when I get accepted to a program. Currently attempting to transfer to an ICU from an ER. Thanks for the tips!

Hi Tyler, I know your comment was from three years ago, but I am about to start an ABSN program that is 2 hours away and I was thinking of moving there next month. Did you really drive 2 hours from where you live to your school each day? That is really impressive and if you could share more context on that, I'm all ears. How much were you spending in gas each week and wasn't that a lot of miles on your car?

Naturally I have to study more than I guess your average student but once I get my rhythm going, then I’m set. In my first semester I found out that you can break the laws of physics. Basic principles of diffusion, from high to low concentration - use the book as a pillow and a law of physics has been broken. :) In my second semester of CRNA school and will give the sono app a try. Bolt, thanks for making all these videos. I’ve found them useful in my journey as an icu nurse and now as I approach the first day of my CRNA program. I’m excited to try out that study technique you mentioned using that sonoscent (forgive the misspelling) app. Anyway my question is if you have any recommendations for a good laptop for CRNA school? I’m thinking about a MacBook however I heard that there could be an issue with converting some programs or files from windows. Thanks man.

Most of us in class have a MacBook but you can use whatever you like.

I've found your materials to be quite helpful, and I've been studying for so long by recording my lectures with a digital voice recording device by Sony. However, I've also been manually transcribing my lecture recordings, and typing them on the computer, and that has taken an overwhelming amount of time even with just a few courses. I'm wondering, amidst your studies, have you encountered a way of recording lectures and pretty much simultaneously transcribing them on the computer for you? I can imagine that would be incredibly useful, as you can determine from lecture what is most important for you to know. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Also, the software that goes through the PowerPoint slides with you and helps you determine the most important information, could you elaborate on that further as well as give a link so that I could check out that service myself, because I am very interested to give it a try, and I want to master these high-yield learning and studying methods as soon as possible. I am still going for my BSN at the moment, but since I am studying all day every day for a mere few credits, I know that I will need to learn to study much more efficiently in order to have a hope of doing well in the future when my schedule is much more demanding (both credit-wise, and clinical-wise). Again, your assistance and clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Im about half way or a little more than half way from getting my pre reqs done before I apply for nursing school and I was wondering what is the best way to study to know all of the material because I want to know all of the info for whatever were going through because my professor gives us test over the unit most of the test is where you have to take what you have learned and apply it to a situation and I want to know all the info by heart so I can know it and retain the info and use it so do you know any forms of studying that would help me with it?

I’ve asked many of my friends who are currently SRNAs and CRNAs if they’ve used or heard of that program and they said no. It looks amazing though. It’s $150 a year. Have you tried notability? Thank you for the tips! Your videos have been very helpful. I am not a nurse yet but will soon be attending the General Entry Masters program. I am currently completing prereqs at a community college and I am having trouble with one of my classes, the instructor does not give detailed or insightful lectures which leaves us having to acquire most of our information from the book. I currently read the chapter overview in the back, record vocab terms, and the chapter overviews then go back through the chapter and try to find anything extra or information that has been expanded on and record that in my notes as well. Do you have any tips or techniques to make getting notes from the book more efficient either time wise or yield wise? The part that I am struggling with is that I don't know exactly what the instructor will test on so I feel overwhelmed trying to go over as much of the material as possible and I just don't want to unintentionally or unnecessarily burn precious time. Slide shows work great when the instructor actually gives them to the class but this instructor literally gives us no material to take home and the notes that I can take during the class barely cover anything important. This class is just incredibly frustrating... Any tips or advice may help, thank you.

That sounds like a rough learning experience. Oftentimes in CRNA school you are handed materials and expected to learn independently but it sounds like in your situation they aren't even clearly defining what materials to learn from. I would email the professor directly and ask them what is their preferred source for learning for their exam.

Hi Bolt SRNA! I just started my first year of anesthesia school (starting my second week tomorrow). I am busy and with upcoming exams I want to get all of my assignments out of the way. I was thinking of getting the powerpints, go to class then go back home and read the chapters and write notes based on those powerpoints. I don't know any other method. I'm not allowed to record.

Julie Le Try using the Quizlet app he mentioned to create practice questions to quiz yourself and mimic the actual exam--I've never used this method so I can't speak to its effectiveness but I think it's more productive than taking notes and reading them over.

Bolt i looked at the sonocent app. Are u able to import from other voice recording devices in to the app then it breaks it to chunks for you? Or ur snoball is directly connected to the sonocent app through ur phone?

CT saldana I only knew of the Sonocent app for my MacBook. The snowball was connected via USB to the MacBook and recorded the lecture live with the app open. Your PowerPoint for the lecture is imported into the app before class begins.

Bolt SRNA I will be applying to CRNA programs soon and found this information extremely helpful. I am wondering since you spent so much time with recording and rewriting your one outline and recording your own voice to sum up the lecture, did you spend a lot of time actually reading the books assigned to the courses? In my BSN I hardly ever read the book material, only mostly to expand on info from lecture. So what I’m wondering is how much did you have to refer to the textbooks after prepping with all of your other ways? Thanks

Do you think there will be too many CRNAs in the future, significantly lowering wages? I doubt I'd be qualified for anesthesia school until at least 2025, so I'm wondering what you think about the career's future. (not that I'd be doing it just for the money of course)

It's projected to only grow larger. Not only are there a number of older CRNAs preparing to retire which adds more jobs.

Everyone was side blinded by the content, from the young 24 year olds who graduated their BSN a year prior to the older students who have been in the ICU for 10 years. If there was an adequate way to prepare someone for it, trust me, I'd tell you guys.

There were plenty of days we did more than that. You'll find that CRNA school will push you past your limit. Each semester you'll find them pushing you past what you previously thought was your max capacity.
