Great collaboration today. Loved hearing your back story Chris of how you got into Bonsai. I would have guessed you have been doing Bonsai more than 7 years. Thanx guys.

Thank you T J! Chris is very knowledgeable on Bonsai! It is not the duration that one has been doing Bonsai but the experience they have is what matters! 😊🪴

Nice! The eye of a painter... Mr Marshall surely knows what he's doing. I think it's a very, very nice result. Perhaps a little bit of additional information (if needed): this species grows very, very slowly so anybody who wants to give it a try: good luck but be patient. As always in and with bonsaï...😉👍

How are hinoki cypress for doing an air layer on and whens best to do it
@notionbonsai5 ай бұрын
Hinokis air layer very well! The optimal time to air layer them is in late spring to early summer. During this period, the tree is actively growing, which promotes root development in the air-layered section. 😊🪴

Hi Adam when your Bonsai tools start to become dull do you send them out to be sharpened or sharpen them yourself?

I have a very important question . Important for me ofcourse All the Hinoiiki Bonsais and even trees are Grafted. Are yours Grated too. ? Can the Sion be air layered to have a real Hinoikis ? Appreciate your reply , comments and proposals . Thanks q🙏🙏🙏🌲🌲🌲
@notionbonsai5 ай бұрын
Hey Mehran. Not all Hinoki Bonsai are grafted at the base. Some of them that you find commercially are grafted onto Leylandii stock as they are easier to produce like this. Then over time as they develop as a Bonsai they tend to swell at the base and depending on your taste it can look bad or good. Personally, I prefer the ungrafted ones though they are a little harder to find! Yes Hinoki air layer very well too so if you can only get grafted ones they can be air layered off 😊🪴
@MehranAshkanian5 ай бұрын
@@notionbonsai Thanks very much for your concise explanation. I have been looking all the nurseries I know but none had any. BUT. I found few ungrafted ones very tall from 6 feet upwards. And very expensive. They had very small leaves and would make a real good looking tall Bonsais or the apax can be turned to deadwood. Or can be air layered in half and have 2 Hinoikis Bonsais. I am thinking about it . Might get one 🌲🌲🌳🌳
