I used to wear a lot of oversized pieces when I was a teenager. Now that I watch your video, I realized I wore them very stylishly. Interesting. I loved your video, and I totally agree with the end hem of oversized trousers. Much love!

As a rather full rectangle, just in the normal weight category, but not thinner, I find that oversize garments rarely work for me. I agree the shoulder fit is the most important, and I can rarely find a cut that fits both my shoulders and the rest of my body. What gives with all the too-wide shoulders manufacturers are making lately recently? Mine are slightly wide, if anything, at one inch wider than my hips, but blazers always are huge there if I find one with roomy enough sleeves to move my arms and/or button up. Of course, alterations work, but taking in the shoulders of a blazer costs around $100 in the really expensive area where I live, and I find it’s just not worth it for the quality of blazer I can afford (Zara, H &M, Loft, etc.). Your good tips will help, I hope, meanwhile it’s knit, unlined blazers only for me.

Ciao Bella! I’m a very mature Kibbe Natural who wore oversized (men’s) shirts, sweaters, blazers, etc back in my college days (early ‘80’s). I love all of these looks and am grateful that at this advanced stage of life my preferred way of dressing is now “fashionable!” Thanks for all your wonderful videos. 💕👍🏻

I'm probably late with this comment, but . . . the sixties/seventies solution to having one's flared pants as long as possible without destroying them was the angled hem. The front should barely make contact with the shoe, just short enough to not concertina, and the back should almost reach the ground but not quite. A bit of skill is required to make the hem on a slant, but not much.

What a sensational video!! I am fine boned and tend to veer away from oversized as I feel I get lost inside the clothes. I prefer structured and tailored clothes so I can be seen in them. Yet, I really liked the way you styled and explained the purpose of giving a sense of proportion with oversizing. Showing the neck, wrist, waist and creating the shape adds the interests. All the looks you showcased were lovely, but I really like what you did wih the button down shirts. I get it now.

This is particularly helpful because I can't get to the seamstress right now. Being petite to begin with, I have to rock the oversized look for now. ;) I myself think camisoles work better than just a bra for the peekaboo factor, but it's good to be thinking about "under" garments with oversized clothes, anyway!

Brilliant and inspirational as ever. I love wearing my late sons clothes and have made some of his trousers into shorts for day to day wear. Usually I make sure im only wearing one masculine piece, and put it with, or accessorise with a more feminine feel. It can feel playful and (forgetting the son reference) quite a sexy combo. I would slightly disagree re jackets. I have found a broader shoulder mans tweed jacket can be feminising as long as the rest of the outfit is snug and soft, and a tailored evening tux style can work well as a day jacket again with shorts or drapey trousers. As a rule though I'd agree that a good fit across the shoulders is important. I just love your style and imagination. Thanks for being there.

I agree, it’s just crazy wearing pants that drag on the ground; they get completely ruined in one wearing, they cuff uncomfortably under the heels of shoes, cause dangerous tripping and falling, nor do they look good in any way, they just look like one’s wearing someone else’s clothes. It’s 10X worse if they are also wide-legged. I think it is manufacturers promoting this look so that the can either not hem them, or not offer different lengths. I got really disgusted two or three years back when all the pants I ordered came in a ridiculous “regular” 36” inseam! This means cutting off 10” for me, ruining the shape of the pants’ legs. Even my very tallest friend finds these too long, clothes should be designed for the NON 6-foot-model majority! Yay for ankle jeans, finally a wearable length. I am not even that short, but close to 5’5”. It’s like those super-long and -wide sleeves a few years ago; I once wore a silk dress with those to a dinner, and was dismayed to discover it was served buffet style. Sure enough, I couldn’t keep the sleeves out of the serving dishes no matter what I tried; I offended other diners, ruined the expensive dress, and ended up going without dinner. What a waste. One thing I love about your videos, Alyssa, is that you address practicality and comfort, as well as style. Style for real women, who live real lives, thanks!
