HOW TO STYLE RAW SELVEDGE DENIM JEANS!

Todays video on how to style raw selvedge denim jeans stems from a topic that is near and dear to my heart. Raw selvedge denim jeans and raw selvedge denim is basically the backbone of the menswear trends and mens fashion trends we all know and love today, as well as the community behind them. These days, the menswear trends 2024 and mens fashion trends 2024 revolve around an emphasis on timeless heritage style, long lasting and durable clothing, as well as a wardrobe that is meant to pair well with itself and any garments you add to it.
This was the basis of what raw selvedge denim grew upon when the raw denim jeans and raw denim craze first sparked in the 80’s after the raw denim frenzy in Japan! And this idea of menswear trends and mens fashion trends revolving around timelessness and durability in my opinion all stems from the raw denim MO.
Now, there are a lot of wonderful creatives out there who have an insane amount of information out there on raw selvedge denim jeans, but I find that there really aren’t enough videos or materials that talk about styling the garment itself. This is why I love doing these styling raw denim jeans videos from time to time, to kind of showcase my thought process for my outfits by season, and giving you guys small guidelines to follow if you so desire!

Newer to menswear and denim. This is so helpful, just a basic denim spring/summer styling guide! You look super confident and clean in all your fits. The blue blazer look works for a lot of things where you dont know the dress code. Usually go Oxford shirt with no tie and boots or brown oxford shoes. Got sucked into the whole Thursday boot hype and have Chelseas i dont wear much.

Coupla ways to go with the hickory denim. Are you an accessory guy (rings, chain, bracelet, watch...) The floral shirt in the video could work. It has a lot of patterns and a lot of texture. The white plays off the white in the Jean and the organic pattern plays with the strict linear pattern on the jeans. Add accessories to play off the blue (silver, stainless...) and it's a unique look that keeps the eye moving. The second is for the truly brave and a playful thumb in the eye of fashion. That is the Ed Hardy/Affliction combo. Hickory is a strong pattern that can support even stronger patterns. Ed Hardy and Affliction are comically strong patterns. They are also ultimate cringe in 2024. Again, the jeans keep the eye moving. We're creating tension with verticality and organic shapes. Not to mention we're taking that Jersey Shore bro-ness and flipping it around and doing our own thing with it. Not a fashion guy just an art nerd.

This is a great question actually! I primarily buy one washed raw denim, as opposed to rigid raw denim. The one wash helps get rid of the excess, dies, starches, and all the nasty stuff that would otherwise end up on whites. It also helps remove the shrinkage as well! To be honest with you, I haven’t bought a rigid pair of raw denim besides Naked and famous jeans in a LONG long time. Hope this helps! 😁🔥
