Thank you for sharing. This was one of the easiest videos to follow. I'm new to Silhouette so watching you show how to print such a large image helped tremendously. My printer prints up to 8.5x14" paper. I didn't have adhesive spray but I did tyape down my image with heat transfer tape & painters tape around the borders. It came out nicely for my 1st try :)

Some helpful hints (I hope) I do not have WORD so I cannot test this, but give these a try. When using the up arrow to "nudge" the item, try holding down the shift key at the same time. Should make the process much quicker. OR... Try using the mouse whilst holding down the "Ctrl" key. The item should stay on plain. I apologise if these tricks do not work in WORD, but it is worth the try.

Hey Lilian! Anything is possible but Cricut's limited printing area severely limits larger projects like this. For example, we would probably have to print 6-8 sheets to achieve a design this big. But where there's a will there's a way and nothing is impossible! ---Becky

Just t in case you are not aware the basic silhouette studio is free to use and download and you do not need the machine to use it to print. I have the cricut and but limited to the printing size I use the silhouette software to print for sublimation. I have since upgraded to the business edition because you can save in the svg format and be able to bring it into the cricut. I also have since bought the silhouette machine to be able to print and cut larger but like I said you do not need it to print with their software. Check it out .www.swingdesign.com/products/silhouette-cameo-license-code-for-studio-business-edition when you go to this page scroll down and you will see the basic for free , if you then decide to upgrade to the business it is showing to be 59.99 to upgrade as of this date. It is a one time fee ... Hope this info helps

Can you help with doing a men's shirt? My husband wears a 2xl and I'm having issues figuring out sizing. Just ordered an Epson just for sublimation and my ink comes Wed! I've been using printable HTV and it's been annoying using so many sheets to try to get it to fit right. Also, I've heard you can use normal printer paper with sublimation ink. Is this true? You're the absolute best at explaining this by the way!!!
@DesignBundles
@DesignBundles 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Bridget! What Epson did you purchase? Even for a 2XL shirt, I would stay around 11.5" wide. That is the size I use for my husband, because you lose a good amount of the width of the shirt when it goes around the sides of the body. I have a video coming on how to combine images on letter size sheets, I'll try to get it out for you quickly. You can technically use regular printer paper for sublimation, but I recommend printing and pressing right away. Normal paper is meant to absorb the ink, whereas sublimation paper is specially coated to keep the ink on top. Hope this helps! ---Becky

So I noticed there is an area in the middle where the color isn’t as vibrant, is this due to the thickness of the overlapped paper area? In general is it ok to have that amount of overlapping? It seems it would hinder the temperature a bit.

Hey Becky awesome video! I have a couple questions for you. I see that you use a 7710 I have a 7610 brand new never used that I wanted use for my sublimation. Can you tell me what ink and paper you use? Also did you prime your printer with the regular ink first or did you just use sublimation? Cartridges? And for pressing what pressure are you using? I have a 12 x 15 Swing Away heat press with a knob to adjust pressure. It also comes with a mug and a plate press so I am totally interested and understanding pressure for all of these items. Also one last question since I have Cricut machines and some other programs, is silhouette Studio something I can use stand-alone for Designing only? And is it a free software or do you have to pay for it? I hope you don't mind all these questions but I am literally getting ready to set up my system. Thank you so much you're amazing!💕

Hey Nancy! Sorry it took me a little bit to get back with you. Congrats on the 7610, I started with a 7510 using refillable cartridges and it was a fantastic printer. I use InkXPro Sublimation Ink from Amazon and A-Sub paper, also from Amazon. I did not prime my current printer with the regular cartridges, although I did start off with "regular" ink in my old 7510 and just flushed the printheads by performing a few head cleanings. For most projects with sublimation, the pressure is going to depend on the substrate you are using. For these doormats, the pressure isn't super important. But there are more pressure sensitive items that you will use light pressure for. You'll want to do something called the "dollar bill test" until you are more experienced in feeling the pressure on your machine. If you can insert a dollar bill into your press, close it, and the dollar bill does not budge when you tug on it, then you have heavy pressure. If you can easily remove it, then you have light pressure. Also remember that thicker substrates will add to the pressure, so you'll have to lighten it up even more on those, if necessary. I've switched over to using my EasyPress for many of the sublimation projects I do that are light pressure, because it's so easy to control. And last but not least, yes, you can use Silhouette Studio as a stand alone software without a machine. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Quick question or two 😂...I am waiting on my sawgrass to be delivered so VERY NEW to sublimation. Can you heat press over an area more than once for these larger images? @DesignBundles

Hey Kristi! Welcome to sublimation! I did overlap at times with my EasyPress and it didn't change anything with my design. I actually have a larger heat press to use for these when I do them regularly, but the EasyPress shows better in videos. If you are pressing more than once, you just have to be so very careful not to move your design by mistake or you will see ghosting. Hope this helps! ---Becky

can you confirm that as you do several presses - overlapping and repressing an area that you've already pressed, won't screw up anything? in other words - you can't overcook an area? I do have a heat press 15 x 15, but also have the easy press and I can put my mat on a flat surface if I use that. my image is the full size of the inside of the border, so I know I'll have to make at least 2 presses. just concerned that re-pressing might over cook it. but 400 degrees at 60 seconds per pressing area? what amount of pressure do I need?
@DesignBundles
@DesignBundles 3 жыл бұрын
I have not had any problem with overlapping areas with the EasyPress or a regular heat press. These mats are already on the thick side for your heat press (thinking clamshell in my mind), so you may want to adjust your pressure. I recommend medium pressure for this project. Hope this helps! ---Becky

@DesignBundles
@DesignBundles 2 жыл бұрын
Are the lines going through the designs and visible when printed? If so this is called branding and you will want to clean your printer heads.

I am going to do my first door mat today I am concerned that when you use a heat press does having the black ridge around your design that it will not press flat because the black ring is raised

Hey Wally! Sorry for the delay, but I have not had this problem at all, even when using a regular (clamshell) heat press. So far, the black ring has not restricted my pressure in any way. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Do you seal the mat with anything once complete?

Hey Shonda! I do not personally seal these with anything, but I have heard of some crafters using a UV spray to help them last longer in the sunlight. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Did you print this with an inkjet or laserprinter? Does it matter?
@DesignBundles
@DesignBundles 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Terredee! This is printed using Sublimation paper and Sublimation ink. I'm afraid that a laser or inkjet wouldn't work for this particular project. You can use inkjet printable vinyl or iron on sheets though, just not on a door mat like this one. Hope this helps! ---Becky

I am having a terrible time with this. I have watched/rewatched this tutorial/video and just cannot get this to work. I keep getting "extra" rectangles, my sizing doesn't stay when I input it. Under transform, I have icons for "scale" but I do not see that in the video (nor do I know how to get rid of this)! I am not familiar enough with Silhouette unfortunately. I am very frustrated to say the least. So much for larger projects :(

Hey Karren, I used the offset just to add a little separation between the text and the design, it keeps them from running together. Hope this helps! ---Becky

@DesignBundles

Unfortunately not. You'll need more even heating. Also, an iron usually has the steam holes in the bottom, which means there won't be pressure and heat in those spots. Sorry I don't have better news. ---Becky
