How to Submit Cards to CGC & Get 10s Under New Grading System

Love this upgrade. I broke out 25 CGC 9s and sent to PSA and 21 got 10s. PSA gives everyone 19s and now people are mad CGC wants to standardize to be in line with PSA. People are hypocrites. CGC has always graded super hard. Them changing their 9.5 to 10 is what it should of been from the beggining! Good job CGC

I have the same issue.. My guess is you won't need a membership once they roll out their changes later in July.. I might consider just buyin membership for reholding, I have over 350 CGC 9.5s to send in...

I think once all the new policies roll out in July, you will no longer need a membership. As of now, you still do for the next few weeks. But my membership is like $25 a year.

You have to provide the shipping label. They ship it BACK to you.

YOU have to ship it to them and pay to have a label made to send to them. There’s a shipping address on the order form. The shipping you pay for in your order is for them to ship it BACK to you after grading.

I really don’t like the dishonesty CGC has portrayed with their grading/changes so I’m not gonna give them any more business. I’ve been screwed so many times with them. It’s a shame though because I really do like their holders out of all grading companies. I like how it keeps the card secure and doesn’t shake like PSA’s!

I think the paid memberships are waved ones the full program is into effect in July. You can send them in early like I did if you have a membership, I think it was $20-$25 for a full year

I read the waiver & it makes me nervous that there’s a chance they can damage the card itself. I’m on the fence now because having a slab that says 10 is appealing but at the risk of the card being damaged is a tough one.

I have over 350 CGC 9.5s left, as I sold a few hundred. that's thousands of dollars.. to convert them to 10s, which they shouldve been from the start.. $5 each is actually a lot for early adopters. i graded over 4000 pokemon cards with CGC. Over 60k in grading cost. In my first 3000 CGC slabs, I recieved under 10 prestine or perfect 10s, then a year ago, about 40% of my submissions became prestine or perfect 10s. There has been a lack of transparency and consistency. so although some of these changes are helpful, it's still a cash grab as they have lost so much business once PSA opened up. It looks like people will need to purchase a membership to Rehold their slabs as of now, some of these changes won't take place till they officially start giving out new labels next month. Even advertising themselves as the "second" best grading company is odd. as grading cost aren't cheaper than PSA, and PSA owns a huge majority of the market, including overall demand/ popularity. CGC doing away with "perfect 10s" and the option of subgrades, is a bad move in my opinion. Why take those away that separated them from other grading companies. The reason subgrades are not being bought is because they tripled the price for subgrades.. about 2 years ago grading a card was $7-8, and subgrades was about $5. The fact that we have to resubmit pay a fee and enter all these cards again including shipping and insurance really adds up. They don't own up to say they were obviously gatekeeping 10s, and purposely not giving out prestine or perfect 10s was an issue from the beginning. Changing the label to old style SGC and GMA is meh, and breaks uniformity with blue labels including comic grading. The main reason they had business was mainly because PSA was closed for a long time. I still like CGC, however they have become more about the money than the people. I'll most likely spend days entering in each card, then pricing everything out again.. It shouldn't come off as CGC is doing us a favor, this was an issue from the start, and should've been quickly adjusted and fixed much earlier. If you're gonna copy other grading companies, then make a sick black label imo. GMA also changed from white to black. Getting a 9.5 back over and over again with strict grading cost me thousands, as a PSA 10 goes for a significant more amount. They shoud've been better with their grading scale from the start, but I guess it's better late than never.

I totally can understand your frustration, and yea resubmitting all those cards is nigh impossible. A few things that pop into my head though, not saying I’m right. If they DIDNT offer people the chance to reholder at 50% off the normal fee, they would be robbing people of the chance at 10s. But, if they DO allow people to do it then it’s a cash grab…. You see what I mean? Also, instead of looking at is as they’re intentionally changing things to suit their own needs, I choose to look as it as they have only been grading cards for 3ish years and are continuing to grow. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Just my perspective, but I also didn’t grade thousands of cards as part of my business lol, I only graded a few hundred with them so your frustration is valid.

Shipping and insurance is also expensive. paying for subgrades then losing them is also a loss. but as you mentioned, better they try to fix and make changes now then later.. just all fells late, and more about them tryin to bring back their early customers when psa was closed. they definitely loss a huge chunk of customers when PSA has the same cost to grade a card, at the end of the day it's paying more money and in my case a few thousand dollars.. when they had a long time to listen to feedback and customers saying stop with all this 9.5 jumbo

You still have to have a membership until it’s OFFICIALLY launched in mid July. Then there will be no memberships required. If you have a membership like me, you can send them in for reholderjng immediately

For those in the know in regards to CGCs standards and this new grading standard change, I don’t think the new Gem Mint 10s label will trump Gem Mint 9.5s too hard especially since CGC has made it clear that both numbers are equivalent to each other now. The only draw back is the additional cost to ReHolder with new label and those who are new to collecting CGC who aren’t informed about the change in scale and labels. But as a CGC collector myself, I like the two variations now because I also collect CGC graded comics and it’s cool to have mini card slabs of those blue labels next to my soon to be black labels. But who knows? Maybe those 9.5s will soon be considered an “old school.” I know I’m gonna keep a few 9.5s for nostalgia reasons. I can also later get them ReHoldered anyways so no worries on holding on to them for awhile.

I honestly never liked sub grades so this is nice to see and I really prefer cgc slabs over psa. The clear slabs of cgc look nicer than the foggy psa ones. For resale psa is better but I collect for just myself and will go with cgc from now on

@@majinmike6840 sadly that’s what a lot of people are doing. Plus I’ve seen cards come back to people graded but damaged inside the casing when it wasn’t damaged before. For around $15 you can buy sleeves & hard cases that work every bit as well for less than the grading cost & you avoid getting scammed by a company that charges to do what you can easily do yourself. All they do is look at it & guess. There is one company that actually has a cool legit setup, with scanning & an actual system that eliminates the guesswork & rampant human error that psa & cgc has always had. Sadly i can’t remember the name of the company because grading isn’t my thing. But i did think it was cool that someone actually made a legit way to do it other than the “looks good to me“ method. I don’t mean to throw shade at anyone i just find this disgusting as a practice because it’s blatantly ripping off whoever spends a lot more for a 10 not knowing it was a 9-9.5 a few weeks prior. They should be shut down imo.
