I completed the Army Rotary Wing Aviator Course in 1982, and instructed from 85-89. This is great advice on so many levels. Listen, learn, leave your ego at the classroom door.

I noticed in the large group picture of what I expect is a group of graduates, that all of the apparent USAF graduates were Caucasian. Can anyone with knowledge tell me how many non-Caucasians as a portion of the initial group typically succeed? Thanks.

The stats are somewhere on the internet. I can’t remember the numbers but it’s very small. Idk if that’s based off the original sample pool but my recommendation is getting some hours in and studying aviation before going in.

They quota babies are given up to,50,percent more flying time to get through the program and still can’t. This also applies to foreign nationals like Saudi’s, Kuwaiti’s etc. this does not apply to,the likes of the Belgians, Germans, etc whom regularly graduate at the top of the class. Sometimes this applies to countries like Singapore nationals, etc Been there, done that, saw that, instructed it

I'll confess that I cheated on all my check rides (I had a friend fly all my ILS approaches, formation flights, ELPs, etc). It's a wonder I never got caught! I think one of my IPs was suspicious though because I'm white and my friend is black.

@ sakib You do realize that everyone attending USAF Undergraduate Pilot Training is already a commissioned officer right? UPT is not an academy, it’s sole purpose is to train current USAF officers (as well as some allied officers) in all aspects of flight culminating in silver wings. This link to the USAFA is more of an apples to apples comparison… kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2XOgZibdq98fJI

Yeah, you Indians think you have it tough. I heard that Russian pilot trainees have to ride bears between classrooms and put vodka on their cereal at breakfast. Top that.
