Interesting. Barely 10 minutes in and the discussion is about how to get the data to measure the success of Auntie Akua’s business. To me it’s simple: business is about meeting demand by selling something the market desires. If Auntie Akua earns more than what it took for her to produce her goods, she’ll make a profit. And if after taking care of her operational expenses (including her salary/ies), she still has some left over, that’s good business. I’m sure that at the very least even the table top business documents this each week/month and sees basic trends. She will know on a basic level whether she’s in profitable business or not. I’m sure you’ll get into more detail as the video goes on, but I don’t think that getting reasonable data is that complicated. Either way - enjoying the discussion so far! 👏🏾

What Mr. Darko is saying is true. I personally had opportunity to start a transport business in Ghana. It was one of the best times in my life to learn the value of money and the metrics for growth in business. At the time I had a friend in the USA who always talked about scaling up , and it was too much of a pressure within the metrics I was working within. You ought to proof yourself. I recruited drivers and drove one car myself for (Uber, Bolts etc) It is one of the exciting times in my life. Today I have relocated to UK and now in USA and I see that the metric is very easy in these developed countries compared to the organic method used in Ghana. Mr. Darko has touched on very vital points. Principles/Discipline are the key things you will learn in doing business in Ghana. Great Show guys keep it up.

I took a big lesson from the loin king movie, the words strike me. Our Mindset is everything. Thank you Mr. Obeng Lyrics Our kind is born a bit smarter than other creatures you might know And though we seem quite pleasant, our niceness is just a show We've learned how to beat the system, everyone else does our work for us But before we can take advantage, first, we have to win their trust So listen up Pretend to be sweet, speak with a smile Then you can take things, jackal style Even if you're mad, play it cool for a while That's how you fool 'em Jackal style Don't gather food or build a home, there's plenty here for us to take Working hard might be good for others, but we get by just being fake By being fake Pretend to be sweet (pretend to be sweet) Speak with a smile (speak with a smile) Then you can take things, jackal style Even if you're mad (even if you're mad) Play it cool for a while (play it cool for a while) That's how you fool 'em, jackal style Jackal style And just wait for Kupatana All these animals gathered in peace We'll stroll in and eat at our pleasure It's gonna be one amazing feast, it's gonna be one amazing feast Pretend to be sweet (pretend to be sweet) Speak with a smile (speak with a smile) Then you can take things, jackal style Even if you're mad (even if you're mad) Play it cool for a while (play it cool for a while) That's how you fool 'em That's how you fool 'em Jackal style

I think if successful Ghanaians were honest and shared their success stories more often it would be really impactful to those that inspire to do greater and how they overcame this faulty system that fails to work for many and be eager to learn from them instead of working against them.
