Some very good points raised in this video that from personal experience I have to completely agree with. What if I don't want to run cheese nights and want to push for interesting music with artists that respect the craft of mixing? Well, this was our challenge. We started out with the intention of playing more sets but they weren't available in our market and we didn't feel comfortable with selling out to play cheese and pop. Instead, we took it into our own hands and started our nights with the USP of offering well crafted mixing of music that you couldn't hear elsewhere. We too hit the student bars, student Facebook groups and put up posters in shops and bars. Like mentioned in the video, word of mouth spreads and personal endorsements are one of our most crucial tools now. Two and a half years in, we've got two radio shows, we've got 5 residencies across 3 cities in the UK and the latest one we launched is playing alternative 80s disco on vinyl, so don't be too disheartened when people tell you that you should sell out to be successful, just get creative.

This is insane. I'm a senior in highschool leaving to uni in London next year and need a job to pay well for college. I've never taken business but your video explains how promoting works beautifully! Last time I visited London I promoted on a Tuesday for free just by going out and passing out little coupons for an empty club and so many people ended up going the club tried to hire me (being attractive definitely helped), been thinking about how I can get into the more professional version of that as I know there's a ton of money in that business. Thank you for your advice. If there's anybody who is willing to take on a future London-promotor as a mentee-please hit me up!!

The more functional the club is will determine how many days you can be open. Everyone ain’t going out on Monday just to dance. You need a dance floor/lounge/stage/ample room for walking around. Can’t be tight. Clubs are also more clientele than anything else. The prettier the women,the more you charge at the door. Obviously,women get in free,before 10. Oh, nightclubs are an insurance nightmare. You’re selling people alcohol! It makes them do stupid shit. Security has to be second to none! So much to say,but I’ll stop there. Nice video.

Hey man, great video and excellent tips. Thanks for that! I just have one question, I would be very happy happy if you would answer. I have started my own Guest List in Barcelona and I have events on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. The interesting part is that before these events there are free dinners and free unlimited drinks inside the club until a certain hour. It's like a poromoting heaven, but tricky part is that nobody fucking believes it is true. I have done flyers, videos and photos to prove my product. Yet, people think it is a scam! Do you have any idea to sell a product that is too good to be true? Thank you.
@JamieWhite6 жыл бұрын
Berk Alp Enyüce so when you’ve got a shit hot offering that people think I’d do good it can’t be real, don’t sell it to them, invite them in, let them experience it and if it’s as good as you’re thinking, they’ll then sell it for you

Hey Jamie. I am presuming you are in Dublin. I'm about an hour and half drive from Dublin so I'm a country boy in a medium sized town. I DJ at the weekend and am work as a barman on week nights. I have been looking into starting up a promo company for the last nine months or so but I have had to put it on the back burner for now because of the covid restrictions. In the town where I live there is a population of approx 5-6 thousand but we are also very close to another large town, just 15 mins by car that has a population of approx 20000. The town I live in only has one night club which only opens on a Saturday night and a Sunday night if it's a bank holiday weekend. I am thinking of approaching the club owner to see if he would be up for opening on Thursdays and Fridays. I would be interested in hearing you opinion on whether it would be feasible for someone like me to run promo nights in a small town taking into account that so many clubs down the country have closed their doors over the past few years. Would it be a complete waste of my time?

Hey Jamie, very informative video. I have one question though: at the end of the video you said you were "doing about 30 of them (nightlife events) a week". Was that an exaggeration, or did you set up multiple different nightlife events at multiple different bars every night of the week?
@JamieWhite7 жыл бұрын
No exaggeration, that’s exactly how we did things
@Mario-wm3ob7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the clarification, but that begs a few follow-up questions if you don't mind: How many people were on your team? How large of an area were you working in (Throwing two events within a few blocks of each other would present conflicts, no?). Just with some rough math, it sounds like you were/are getting thousands of people to come out to your events every night of the week. That seems staggering, but I take your word for it because I don't see any reason to lie or exaggerate. I'm in the nightlife industry in the North East of the United States, and if you and your team were/are able to pull thousands of people to events every night of the week, it sounds like you have incredible knowledge and insight.

my boyfriend works for a casino night club. the club aspect is fairly new, going on its second year. i'm finding myself in the unique position of advising him on how best to drive traffic to his boss's club, and help keep their numbers up. Tickets are only $10/night, and you order your coctails at tableside. Friday nights are disco, and Saturdays are comedy, with dancing afterward. Hours are reasonable. Yet this year, numbers are way down. Last Friday night, only 4 people showed up during a 5-hour spread, and one of those was an after-hours employee. The club has very little marketing knowledge, and it shows. I aim to fix that. Not my job, just a compulsion to fix something I guess.
