I’m a part -time promoters I watched most of your content, you are honesty about how promoting cost and many artist and their managers are naive about, what people don’t realise promoting cost a fortune then you got managers who are arrogant and rude.

if a promoter contacts a local artist/independent artis he/she should pay them..but if the artist contacts the promoter then the promoter should use their discreation..

Worst kind of promoters are the ones that hit you up and don't pay you to come out to them and play a show. Especially if you get a good draw.
@franz9095 жыл бұрын
It's not " off " cause he doesn't mention room service , breaking up the room and etc etc unforeseen costs like people ripping you off at the door or parking and his job is not to promote the artist , its to make money and if the artist can't make you money , it defeats the purpose of being a promoter ... that's the real world .

Promoting shows is a headache.... Too much hoping and wishing to make your money back. Artist come out better throwing small house party shows and charge $15 and get 50-100 people each show...

So, he is judgmental and attempting to offend people for justification. This is the type of person you stay away from in the music industry. Especially if he can't add. Unless you are shady and can't add yourself, this is your type of creature.

TheWinterShadow This is business, not personal. Words like “judgmental” and “offend people for justification” sound real personal and have nothing to do with the bottom line. Confusing one with the other is how you fail

Cool dude, then we don't play at your venue. Good luck finding a fool who will still fall for the "exposure trap". Besides this practice being very unethical, because you're effectively exploiting a worker like a slave, expect musical effort and assume not having to pay: any musician, even the local artists make a lot of money for a venue. They may not sell too many tickets, but they are the ones who make people stick around and grab another drink. Imagine no music playing at the venue at all, everyone would be off the club next door asap.

So everyone is local to somewhere. Do I have to move house every three months? Maybe just tour foreign countries? I guess if I ever went to America I would never be local as I am British.

Well, this has aged rather poorly. It's true that tons of local artists suck at selling tickets... but guess what Mr. Martin, the virus situation we're in means you ain't making any money from live shows now either! You're allowed to not pay whoever you want, but the fact that you work with so many "worthless" artists says more about *you* than it does about savvy business etiquette.
