Dry brood with at least two baby chicks and it's the most successful. The chicks teach the ducklings to eat and drink. real simple.

Sorry for all the comments but he started to say that you use the wet breeders forward Ducks but you didn’t say why and why you were losing some in the dry breeders? I started out without a way for him to get wet just for him to drink but then I realized he really wanted to get wet All the timeso I put them in the bathtub a few times and then made a little swimming pool in his brooder ...but I also have that grate like you have with a warm corner with microfiber towels so he can dry off. I am brand new to all of this but I didn’t get a heat lamp because I felt like that would be mean to have a bright light on him all night long so I got a heating pad that is supposed to go underneath of dog beds andPut him near the heater so I can make sure it stays warm enough on that side of the tank for him and he doesn’t stay wet or cold

I did a bunch of research before I found this video clearly because this is like day five of having him but I knew about the chick starter and then I found out that Ducks need niacin for their build development so they also actually make duckling starter. But I bought some mealworms and give him lots of fruits and vegetables a little bit of dog food that has low fat and cream of wheat quinoa I’ll kinds of stuff whatever I eat basically that’s OK for ducks I give him some and he loves it. Oh I also heard something interesting because I was going to feed him a snail but apparently they have some thing in them that when the ducks eat them they can get some disease in their intestines or something I don’t remember exactly but I just remember it was bad thing

Thank you for posting this information so far my little duckling is doing good he was orphaned and I’ve had him for four days now he’s got a good little set up it looks a lot like what you have over there and go for a swim in the bathtub and gets all kinds of good treats to eat that are healthy for Ducks and he really loves watermelon! ...And the one thing I don’t really like is how rough you are with them can you please be more gentle with the little babies? It’s not hard to be nicer to them just think about if you were one of them you can do everything you do just as easily in the same amount of time but a little bit more gently

At first I just assumed he was a mallard but now I’m thinking he’s a wood duck. Is there a way to tell without doing a drug test LOL I think he is a duck just because he was lighter colored and his pattern looks pretty exact to what you have there in your ducklings but I’m not an expert is there someway to tell with Ducks from Mallard at that young of an age if you don’t know the mom and dad??

I just found some helpful information on determining a mallard duckling from a wood duck duckling. Wood ducklings have a horizontal dark line from the eye that connects to the dark area at the back of the head, where mallards have a horizontal eye line that stops before it meets the back of the head. Also, wood ducklings tend to have a pinkish beak tip, and a more rounded beak than a mallard's flatter beak with a whitish tip.
