Beach Bomber Fishing Your vids are dope and very informational!! So many choices of bait. Here is what I use on boats near Galveston Jetty’s. 6’6” Med-Heavy Ugly Stik Vintage Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5000c: 20lbs drag, 50lb braid-15lb mono. Bait: live/dead shrimp , live/dead mullet, crab. Rig: chartreuse jig head, circle hooks, and trebles.

I haven't been surf fishing in a while but my buddy (he passed away in 2010) and I used to fish the beach between surfside and San Luis pass from Aug-Oct mostly at night...we would use fresh dead shrimp or squid to catch croakers, whitings, piggies etc. then use the surf rods to send them out live...when we didn't catch any bull reds or anything else on the large side we caught a damn good buzz trying lol!
@sabers2th5 жыл бұрын
Man, I don't know if you'll read this but I watched this video late October 2017 or so and I have been killing Reds/Black drum every time I go out ever since. This video helped me so much it's crazy man. Can't say how much I appreciate it. I live in in the Gulf Coast area of Alabama and when we had our bull red run in October/early November I caught dozens upon dozens of bull reds. The most underrated bait on this side of the pond by far is using a sand trout (we call them white trout) head with all the guts inside. Reds love it more than mullet when the white trout are super thick down here. Thank you for this video, can't tell you how much it helped me.

I’m from the Midwest, so I don’t get the fish salt water, but I still love your videos man they are absolutely so fun to watch. And one thing that I really loved is how you broke it down month by month. That’s super helpful even if I’m not fishing the same body of water or the same type of fishing that you’re doing the concepts really do translate to the type of fishing I do which is mostly freshwater small rivers and streams. The way that the bait in the fish run up the small rivers out of the Ohio River where I live is relatively the same as what you guys have with your different runs. So, thanks for breaking it down and keeping me entertained and keep it up man

Awesome video... I recently purchased a house on the beach near San Luis (so I just started surf fishing)... getting my 13 yr old son into it as well. Thank you for an excellent video for learning on all the ways in catching Reds on surf and also understanding weather and reading Galveston & Bolivar surf. I don't usually catch Reds but large Whitings are good enough for me on the Bolivar on those bayou cuts.

Sometimes I use whitings for bait to get the Reds if I can throw it out to the 2nd bar but other then that I'm good on eating whiting or croaker's especially, there's no limit in catching these types of fishes. Occasionally, I catch pompano, that's a really good eating fish!

That is very impressive good knowledge I however like pins and 3/4 to 1 oz spoons. There are a veritie of ways to fish and as long as you catch them you are doing it right I go to Galveston more than pins so you will need to be able to switch up fishing styles the more you move around the bay is different than the serf the further south you go the ruffer the serf is also look for the birds working

Excellent video. I enjoyed comparing the differences and similarities to FL surf fishing for reds.
@BeachBomberFishing7 жыл бұрын
+One Fish ive never fished fl for reds. Any major differences?
@nickouellette4847 жыл бұрын
Beach Actually a lot of similarities. Baits: mullet and whiting. Rods/reels: same. Incoming tide: same. But in my experience the difference are conditions: all my bulls have been on calm days (but now I want to try rough days) and tackle. From what I've seen down here (myself included) we use a lot lighter main line and leaders. I don't really ever go over 30lb floro and braid. We also use a lot of knocker rigs with our live bait. But that's just my experience.
@BeachBomberFishing7 жыл бұрын
One Fish i see. So mainly conditions and tackle. We use heavier tackle due to size of baits we cast, our sandbars are very abrasive, and we have flat beaches. Ive never used a knocker rig while surf fishing.
@nickouellette4847 жыл бұрын
Beach Yeah I've read some Texas surf fishing forums before and was surprised at how beefed up y'all fish. (Everything is bigger in Texas) but when you said rough conditions are better for bulls it made sense. That would be a lot of wear and tear

@stephanuschung16164 жыл бұрын
A Carolina rig is something different than whats shown in video. I fish va/nc coast down to hatteras for drum. 10-13/O circle tied with nail knot using 100lbmono to swivel. 1" or less from hook to swivel. The rig is then attached to 100lb "bite leader" then to 50lb "shock" then to 15-20lb mono mainline. This is fished fishfinder rig style using 8-12oz. We don't ever use braid. always mono. 20 or 30size daiwas plenty of line for drum even with mono.

1 thing Ill say, its almost never a bad idea to get out there if you have the time, I've caught the wrong big fish in all the wrong conditions on several occasions. Just dont burn yourself out or get frustrated on those days, it just is what it is. May get lucky tho
@BeachBomberFishing6 жыл бұрын
