I’m a Britt who now lives in Fruita, Colorado, the home of Mike the headless chicken! We have a festival once a year to celebrate the legend. Our town is pretty funky really, and we have many headless chicken statues and artworks around our Main Street. We also boast a frigging massive dinosaur statue, and many more around town as dinosaur discoveries is also something the town is known for. That and world class mountain bike trails. Weird place!

My dad saw a chicken run around headless. Apparently it was tied down by the neck to allow an easier cut and to keep it in place in case something like that happens (nobody wants to clean up blood from everywhere it ran through), but whoever did the cut was new to it and didn't realise you're supposed to cut above the rope, not below. So the chicken's head remained tied down, while the rest of the body ran around, made a mess and gave some of the people involved an unforgettable memory. The way our brain is extremely centralised is uncommon in animals overall, though more common in mammals. Birds, reptiles and everything back has the brain more segmented and spread out, while things like spiders and starfish have their parts think mostly independently, communicating more or less general hints between each other.
