Be aware that they don't mention who their RCIC is on their website. By law this people are not allowed to give any immigration advice at all. Only Registered Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCIC) and Lawyers are authorized to give immigration advice.

As a Canadian, it always makes me really happy to see immigrants adopting their new home with such eagerness. Like how Hockey Night in Canada has a punjabi broadcast. I think that's pretty wicked that so many punjabi-speaking Indians are so into hockey that there's demand for play-by-play in that language. Obviously I advocate learning English and/or French (which is generally never a problem with Indians given how widely spoken it is), but a lightning-fast sport like hockey is hard to follow in a second language. Also, very good review, quite detailed and accurate. Also lol'ed with how blunt you were: "yeah....don't bring your 'warm' jackets from home, they just aren't cutting it in Canadian winters." haha. Lovely couple.

Hey! You're comment is amazing! Just saying. I've applied for undergraduate programs in university of Saskatchewan and Alberta. Got an offer letter from Saskatchewan too! And honestly I am terrified coming to Canada cuz I belong to a tropical country? And have never experienced snow? And I am going to enter in december! Ughh I am ranting sorry. But yeah like you said most people here in India speak English cuz that's like an official language but as of French not many people do. Cuz it's not taught that much. And PS I am super scared I might freeze after getting out of the flight! Again just sayin

LuxuriantTv I have always wondered what are the thoughts of the locals living in Canada about the life there, especially in terms of expenditure. When we travel from a country with lower currency conversion rate to a higher valued currency, we are bound to find it expensive. Since you are born in Canada and live there, how would you describe the everyday expenses from a Canadian born individuals perspective? It would be great to hear from you! @CanadaCouple great video once again! Thanks!!

@@kajaldhamne1 I teach international students (mostly from India) so I am aware of how expensive everything seems to people who are new here. The difference in Canada is that we also make more money so while everything costs more money than India, in genrral, Canadians make more money. It is all relative.

Biggest tip is cloth layering. You should always wear multiple layers of cloths. Thermal wear is good but just make sure you have 3-4 layers under your jacket and 1-2 layers under pants.

it’s important to note that just because a down jacket has higher fill power down in it, that doesn’t automatically make it warmer. It just means it will provide more warmth for the same weight of down. For example, a 650 fill power jacket with 400g of down in it will keep you warmer than a 750 fill power jacket with only 200g of down in it. But, if both jackets have 200g of down in them, the 750 fill power jacket will be warmer.

Those were not hats, or caps ... those knitted pointy things are called tuques (pronounced toooooks). Some are made with fluffy and fun 'poms-poms' on the point. Sometimes the person who knits the tuque attaches the pom-pom not directly on the point but lets it hang down on a 20 cm twisted pair of yarn fibers. Then, when you quickly turn your head the pom-pom swings as well. It is all designed to have a little bit of fun during a cold winter day.
@danhubert4074
@danhubert4074 5 жыл бұрын
And some tuques have a rim... like folded up material over your forehead and around the back of your neck ... for extra insulation against the cold. But then it becomes more interesting. With some tuques, when it is really cold and windy (think about windchill), you simply unfold the rim and pull it down over your face to protect your skin.
@danhubert4074
@danhubert4074 5 жыл бұрын
When you 'unfold' the rim of the tuque down onto your face, that feature would only include 'eye holes' so you can see where you are going. It is a rare tuque that would allow holes for your nose. That nose hole feature is akin to a terrorist balaclava, or a USA military thing. In Canada, we protect not only your head, not only the back of your neck, but also your entire face and your precious nose. The tuque is a marvelous design. And to our hosts, this was a marvelous video. We Canadians now appreciate what you are going through. Thanks.

I am a Canadian born and bred, but I’m LOLing at this. It's easy--just move to Vancouver, the place where I was born. You will not need to worry about any of these lessons on extreme cold winter clothing. At the age of 21, I did move to Montreal for six years to do my university graduate degree and I learned the hard way about how to survive a "real Canadian winter." It was the worst six years of my life. Or you could just avoid all this and move to Vancouver instead. It’s “lotus land” and rarely gets below zero degrees C.

Wait so you wear a Parker and a down jacket at the same time? I just bought myself a down jacket (250g, 700 down power) for visiting Kazakhstan in winter ( average -20 lows of -35). I was thinking thermal base layer (long sleeve top, long bottoms of wicking fabric) another layer (walking trousers, normal jumper/shirt), a fleece, then a top layer linned waterproof trousers and the down. Is that enough?

Nice video and lots of good advice! There's one other detail you should consider before choosing winter outerwear, like a good parka: Try to get clothes that are loose fitting. European-style close-fitting clothes may look stylish, but they don't work well in Canada for several reasons: Firstly, close-fitting clothes don't trap enough air --- your parka works by trapping air around your body, which your own body then heats up. The parka's insulation is there to keep the warm air in, and not just to keep the cold air out. (That's also why scarves work - they're like gaskets to keep warm air from escaping your parka through the neck.) Secondly, close-fitting clothes bind and restrict your movement. You should be able to move freely, and be able to touch your toes or stretch your arms without resistance. This is important not just for comfort, but also because tight-fitting clothes can impair blood circulation, making you feel even colder. Thirdly, close-fitting clothes won't give you enough room to "layer-up". You need to keep enough room under your parka available for things like sweaters or fleece vests, without feeling constricted, especially around the arms and shoulders. Your clothes should all work together as a unit to keep you warm in the Canadian winter. I hope this is helpful. Cheers!

I really love your videos! It's really fun here and to watch you bond so well is just.. omg. But can you please a separate video for the educational systems of Canada? I'm a student migrating to Alberta soon, I was hoping if you could address these matters for students like me? ;) Thank you! Love you both!

Hey guys! As you mentioned they don’t bring jacket from your home country. If we are landing in Canada in a winter season than how come we can buy a good jacket just after landing at the airport. Help out please.

You guys are ridiculously likeable. Your boot selection makes me think you live in Toronto. The only winter boots to buy have felt inserts. And no matter how much I pay, my feet still get cold. But yeah, felt boots that go inside the boots is the only way to go. You are welcome. Also, mitts are a jillion times warmer than gloves. ( Ok, maybe only a zillion) . Great hair, sometimes you have to sacrifice comfort for style.
