There are so many budget apps out there that help you compile your spending to get a great picture of monthly expenses. This is must if you want to really know where your money is going. Also will help prepare the transition to full time music making.

For those saying its a pyramid scheme. Look up the definition of pyramid scheme... Music Licensing is not that...All of your income is based on YOUR shoulders. YOU are the product and the business and everything you gain is based on your own hard work and perseverance. You actually have to make good/useful music for people to want to use it in their productions (whoa go figure!) And making relationships with people who can place your music. Whereas pyramids are usually based on selling an idea with no tangible product.

Amen Anders! The best part of the licensing business is that it's really not a matter of luck if you succeed - it's all tied to how hard you want to work!

This is why folks should avoid BMI SESAC is by invitation only but the payment schedule is the same a BMI. They do offer monthly pay for radio AirPlay royalties otherwise it’s slow 4 times a year.

Question: does ASCAP pay the in same months as BMI? Always wondered why BMI doesn't pay in Jan, Apr, July, and Oct...instead of Jan, Mar, Jun and Sep?

It doesnt freak me out, I'm just wondering what options are there to increase your payment.

Not gonna lie man, 4 royalty checks a year sounds crazy. Real disheartening lol. Tho I understand this is an endurance game, you literally must have hundreds of tracks out there to really stay afloat... I think this should be explained further, cause to a newcomer I could see how they would be easily turned away

AND/OR you have got to keep producing music and yes, hundreds of tracks and more. Remember, for every track you do, you have more than one opportunity to get it placed. Not sure if Jesse has talked about this but each track has anywhere from 250 to 300 dollars on up for placements in a given point. Example, a good track that has a good ending, verse part and solid chorus, a transition part and a good button ending or stinger. Each one of those parts could be place in different shows or parts of the show. It’s like a cash register, it add up. It’s a volume business. Hypothetically, let’s start with a minimum of $250 for each tune. 5 different parts placed a piece. Multiply that by 1000 songs/tracks. Some placements are paid less. All depends on the placement and how long. Just shot a hypothetical figure out there. Could be more, you never know. It’s a volume business and hard work. Here’s what someone told me years ago.. the music licensing business is like a musicians 401k. The more music you put out there, the more your music is working for you. It’s a marathon, not a race. This is why I am working hard to get to that point!!!

chris williams Makes sense. You'd be a millionaire based on that example lol but yea I get what you're saying. I was just saying to a newcomer this video would seem very disheartening, if they haven't seen most of his videos... They'd jus write it off as some pyramid scheme type thing. Like 4 checks?? Nah man lol

AND/OR it’s not a pyramid scheme. I have taken his course and it’s amazing. I have been. Doing this since 2010 and have seen my statements grow and see the potential. Don’t let it scare you. Trust me lol this is by no means a pyramid scheme.

chris williams I salute you fam 🙏 keep going. How many beats do u usually push out by the end of the week? from 2010 till now I'm assuming your catalog is pretty crazy

AND/OR I can pump out 7 to 10 minimum a week

I have to say with all due respect your wrong. Ascap pays more than 4 times a year. One month for domestic distribution One month for international distribution One month for publishing distribution This is the payment schedule. So if a composer is also claiming the publishing share He or She would receive a royalty payment every month. BMI and SESAC are the ones who pay only 4 times a year. Ascap pays more than 4
