I feel like if you're going to title a video "How to Survive the Winter in Project Zomboid" you should, at the bare minimum, mention stuff like the Outdoorsman trait, the Antique Stove, dressing in layers for more warmth, how to counteract the effects of a cold with tissues and how your water supply will be hit since snow doesn't count as precipitation when it comes to rain collector barrels. I usually find a lot of good stuff in your vids, but not only do I think this one is particularly lacking, I also think some of the advice you did give about how hypothermia "isn't that bad" will result in a lot of lost characters as the negative penalties to your combat and movement stats are extremely detrimental. Would not recommend this to new players looking for info.

I always make it to winter, though I play sandbox and start my playthroughs in October, "6 months later" with electricity and water both turned off right away. I also always take "outdoorsman" which helps with everything. And with the right clothing, I can stand outside during a blizzard with a -20 degree windchill and my character will feel "slightly chilly" lol Still though, doesnt hurt to have a campfire kit, or a fireplace/antique woodstove. Maaaan those wood stoves are awesome. I always get a fuzzy feeling when I find one lol

I've been starting playthroughs at the military checkpoint in Southern Louisville. S ashort walk past the check point and to your right is a complete industrial park. I chose this spot as I worked in a real industrial park and there is literally everything you'll need. My recent playthrough I found all the vehicles I'd need plus 3 antique stoves on the warehouse in that industrial park. Located close to the river, the hospital across the street, a school, 3 super markets, its an amazing position. Plus in southern Louisville you're far away from downtown zombies and also in the middle of residential fenced I'm zones. Imo, perfect to get ready for a very long playthough. About to hit October and my first winter might actually be the first ill pass. I took 120 negative trait points to suffer month 1 but to be basically invincible by winter. For reference, the only negative traits I didn't take was amputee, deaf, butterfingers, noodle legs or any of the negative driving perks or anything drop my strength below 7. Fitness is 5. Basically took everything else just to get all the perks that prevent injuries or sickness. Believe me, it's taken over 500 game hours to learn how to survive the first month with so many negatives. But I figured when I started if I learn to play on hard-core immediately, rest of the game will become easy mode and I was right. Still never once turned on debug.

To be honest I'm kinda running into the problem of getting bored before I hit winter. I usually take a few weeks to gather up and amass supplies somewhere in or very close to a town, and once I've reached a certain point I toss everything into my car and trailer, head for a remote farmstead with easy access to water and gasoline, then just kinda.....farm my days away. I of course make excursions to bring back things like Generators, Ice Chests, Propane Tanks, and Gas runs, but otherwise I'm sitting in my remote fortress just kinda......existing.

I play with the mods cryogenic winter on hard and snow is water. I can with stand - 120°c with easy at my base (wood stove and right clothing). Honestly, the hard part is keeping up with the calories. Food goes down very quickly with the cold. The tip o give is making a heated closed garden with wood stoves, nice way to have tomatoes in the winter.

I recommend changing key action settings. Play with different traits so you know how to go about preparing. Also, try playing on Apocalypse difficulty. You die a lot at first but once you can take out four zombies with no weapons life is much easier.

My dad and i are all set for the winter. We're doing a purge the zombies run and have so far cleared Rosewood and Doe Valley. We got house by house, building by building. And we have huuuge amounts of supplies as well as multiple bases and full suits of armor and tons of stuff to keep warm with. We just got into winter, so the snow and cold is just starting.

The only difficulty with winter is managing your loadout with the extra weight from clothing and the lack of fresh water at your base. The necessity for extra clothes does provide additional scratch/bite protection and just make sure your base has collected enough water before december hits. Cryogenic Winter mod is without a doubt the way that winter is meant to be played in PZ. The environment actually poses a threat - something vanilla is severly lacking.

I just made it out of winter. I do recommend stock piling food like canned food, freezing crops and meat before it starts to make the winter easier. You don't need to of course, but it'll be more difficult.

I've always made it to winter, its simple and easy. Don't die and kill as much of the dead as you can clearing out a place to live in of your choice. Adding to this, collect cars you might like if your using mods

Made it to and through winter several times. It really isn't bad with default settings, 5 months is plenty of time to find what you need to survive. Biggest problem is water, snow doesn't seem to fill your water collectors so better have them built and filled by the end of autumn. Always look for antique stoves, so you can safely burn shit indoors, padded pants & jacket, generator, icecream freezer from a gas station to fill with your crops.

Try to make a new world where you start with the starter kit and just take on zombies with the baseball bat and experimenting with different traits. The isometric set up of the game takes a little time to get proficient with. Pretty soon you’ll have one character who pushed way farther than the rest

Oh brother where to begin? I always get Engineer for the firebombs and plus one electrical. I get FAST LEARNER/stout/fit/cats eyes/lucky/speed demon/dexterous. Weaknesses smoker/slow healer/hearty appetite/fear of blood/slow reader/hard of hearing/weak stomach. I start in Riverside. Depending on population and starting location I hit the warehouse for sledgehammer/weapons/car. Or in town the bar for Molotov cocktails/cigs/lighter. Then store for a bag/food. Then police station if I have a melee weapon break the door for guns. Hit the other store for cigs/lighter/food. Sleep. Use firebomb. Video store get CARZONE videos and any skill raising videos. Hardware store. Post office. Bookstore get mechanics books(magazines)/metalworking(magazines)/generator mag. Find a working vehicle(box truck if you can find one) or hotwire one. Be sure to read the mechanics books before starting the videos. Drive to the military blockade in Louisville. Cleanse the area with fire. Hit the warehouse if you don't have a sledgehammer. Bust open the armory by the eating area. Search the whole area. Get a Military Backpack. You can level your mechanic skill and metalworking depending on vehicle and if you have a trailer(mechanic level 4 gives you the ability to repair hood and trunk with level 3 metalwork. If you have balls of steel go to the Military surplus in Louisville then the pawnshop(you can hit the other pawnshop. There is a garage next to the pawnshop grab torches or propane tanks(if you have room in inventory but you probably wont). Only get ammo and double barrel shotguns.DO NOT FIRE A SHOT IN LOUISVILLE! Use fire. Then I hit the gunshop on the northeast corner of the map. Use the back way that is part of the blockade. From here you can hit the hunting lodge and gun range. (Highly dangerous though). Then set up shop at the Westpoint gun shop. Transport your guns/ammo/ect to the gun shop. Hit the storage place for a generator and take it to the gas station to the south. Loot the bookstore, police station and hardware store. Take you stuff to the house with a well not the farm. Tow a light car in good shape with you unhook the car go back until you have everything. By this time you should be where I am at. LOL!
