lots of good info, but I think you missed mentioning the oil pressure sensor. If you keep the spin on filter assembly you will want to move the 'green sensor' across - I've read elsewhere that the trigger point is different.

Hey I'm in TX too. I am going nuts trying to figure out if I need to open up the ring gap on the 2.5l. Should I worry about it running 17 to 20 lbs. boost? @Cars and Beatz Official , Great job, thanks a lot! Got few questions btw.. 1 Fuel system. Is there anything useful from 2.5 motor ? Never had experience with them, but looks like we need everything from Speed(injectors, ramp, Hpfp), isn't? 2 All components like AC compressor, alternator, PS pump, bruckets, bolts, knocking sensor, EGR parts -all that from Speed as well, right? 3 Turbo oil return line adapter for Speed 6 should be drilled to tge oil pan a little closer to the passenger side, isn't? otherwise transfer case will be on the way I guess. 4 Timing cover and all pulleys/tensioner for belt , flywheel coming from Speed too?
@carsandbeatzofficial7545
@carsandbeatzofficial7545 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I use everything from the speed fuel system and all components including sensors. If you use the adapter for the oil return it will work for the speed 6 perfectly. Otherwise you can have a bung welded to your oil pan.

May sound dumb, but what are the advantages of the 2.5 vs 2.3? my guess would be initial cost for the motor for 2.5 is way cheaper than a speed motor. Anything else? Are forged parts around the same price for 2.5 vs the 2.3? also what about the crank? since the 2.5 is naturally aspirated wouldnt it be weaker? thinking about doing this for a buddys speed 3
@carsandbeatzofficial7545
@carsandbeatzofficial7545 4 жыл бұрын
Like stated cost is the main thing. Stock internals have been proven to handle around 400hp. Crank hasn't been an issue for higher hp yet. This is still pretty new to speed owners. On this build , the bottom end with forged rods cost way cheaper than a used speed motor. Apart from all that, there is no replacement for displacement. I do like the 2.5 better for it's faster revs.
@jacobhogan3958
@jacobhogan3958 4 жыл бұрын
@@carsandbeatzofficial7545 thanks man! I know my car has forged pistons and rods with a stock crank and is holding 380 hp no problem was just wondering if that applied to 2.5 as well. Seems like a fairly straight forward swap, thanks for taking the time to make a vid about it.
@Hyperno47
@Hyperno47 4 жыл бұрын
There is no advantages apart from cost. The L3T DISI has a forged steel crank, the 2.5 has a cast iron crank, the L3T DISI has forged conrods, the 2.5 has cast conrods, the L3T has stronger cast hypereutectic pistons, the 2.5 does not. The 2.5 is a great grocery getter, quite a perky motor actually, but it was never designed for forced induction and the cylinder pressures encountered regarding direct injection.
@carsandbeatzofficial7545
@carsandbeatzofficial7545 4 жыл бұрын
@@Hyperno47 apart from the forged crank the disi has I see no other advantage. I've seen every type of failure on the disi. The so called stronger pistons from the disi are a joke and plenty of ring lands fail. The so called stronger rods the disi have are a joke and bend alllll the time for no reason even in well maintained stock vehicles. Have you ever driven a 2.5 swapped speed?? If you haven't you will feel the quicker spool and the car is more enjoyable.

My personal opinion is that the 2.5 timing components are an upgrade from the 2.3. The chain is beefier and it only uses 2 friction washers so it might have less of chance of slipping. It is a direct fit but you must use either all 2.3 components or all 2.5 components.
