It honestly depends on what you want out of your bike. But if you want quick acceleration like a bmx bike, I would suggest a setup like mine. I've even seen a downhill cassette on a jump bike before. It was actually pretty cool.

Great video bmx cranks is the way to go because they are sturdyer than aluminum. I am building a fixed gear freestyle, the only change I will do is that I need splined cranks and sprocket for heavy use and abuse . Thanks for the valuable information.

Diety component's website had the kit. Unfortunately I'm not seeing it on the website anymore. Other company's make the same type of bb tho so if you can't find the diety one, then you may be able to find a other.

The narrow wide was actually causing me problems at first because I had a chain designed for single speed. But no, the dartmoor sprocket and the salt sprocket worked great minus the high ratio with the dartmoor sprocket

@motov8-garage8323 жыл бұрын
For a 73mm bottom bracket you most likly need a 6" spindle. Most dj bikes(if not all) with 73mm euro bb require it mine included.(dont believe the parts adds that say will fit 68-73mm bmx because dj mtn bikes have wider chain stays typically). 5.5 which is the most common bmx bb spindle length is too short. My 900$ dj bike came with a 5.5 regular bmx 48 spline spindle and my crank arms kept coming loose every other ride because the spindle didnt protrude far enough into each crank arm, it had enough play to keep loosening up even with taking out half the spacers and having a fairly crooked chain line also the internal bb spacer was to short(needs a 53mm I believe not the 47mm I think is in there).. anyways I'm now searching for a 6" spindle, turns out there not the most common one that comes with a bmx 3pc crank kit but there is a few out there I found. Profile, and some random spindles of of ebay and Dan's comp. -If I'm at all wrong here anybody correct me( I have no problem with constructive criticism)😁

I have a Saracen amplitude CR2 with mid type BB. What do I need to do to fit an MTB crankset and chainring?
@ianbirkettactionmedia4123 жыл бұрын
You just need to find a bb that will accept whatever spindle size you want to put on. And make sure the chainline is good too.
@blaneysiktube3 жыл бұрын

I wanna put bmx crabks on my dirt jumper its threaded bb shell and i wanna buy euro bmx bb ehich is also for threaded,how do i know its gonna fit?
@ianbirkettactionmedia4123 жыл бұрын
I believe the euro is the smaller one. You just need to figure out what your bb shell size on your frame is and find the correct size bb. What frame do you have?
@andrewburnett54284 жыл бұрын
Will this fit every DJ frame? As long as it’s the euro style with threads?
@ianbirkettactionmedia4124 жыл бұрын
Yep. As long as the bb shell on your frame is between 68 and 73mm wide and you DONT have the super small diameter shell size (Spanish bb)

Do you think it would work with a 140mm spindle instead of the 150mm I’m pretty sure the mission has? I want to do it with a splined sprocket.
@ianbirkettactionmedia4123 жыл бұрын
Idk, I guess it would depend on if you could get the correct chainline. Plus you would need to be sure your crank arms have enough spindle to attach to. You wouldn't want your crank arms hanging half way off your spindle.

I went the same route and picked up the octane one zircus frame from chain reaction cycles. But I recently finished my nukeproof scout build and I like it a lot more! The scout was a little more expensive but well worth it. I would suggest going to chainreactioncycles.com to find a frame. Bike24.com has several options as well.

@Betoofast Жыл бұрын
do you use a standard dirt bike chain?
@ianbirkettactionmedia412 Жыл бұрын
It was a typical single speed chain. Something that you would use on a bmx bike. If you manage to get your chainline perfect, you could go with a half link chain as well.
@Betoofast Жыл бұрын
Ok thanks Bc my chain is always slipping and i don’t really know why
@ianbirkettactionmedia412 Жыл бұрын
No problem! Honestly, the chain slipping is more than likely a bad chain line. As in, your driver and chain ring aren't in a straight line relative to each other. That was one of the reason I made this video and went to the setup that I did.

I have a question, i got a 73mm bsa, threaded, and got a dartmoor bb set, are there any chances that the spindle will not be long enough? Or i am just anxious? I want to get the same cranks that you got.
@codrinnnn3 жыл бұрын
73mm bsa threaded, 19mm inside from dartmoor**
@ianbirkettactionmedia4123 жыл бұрын
I think you would be fine. I think most crank spindles are usually longer than the bb anyway. You'll just have to make sure that you have spacers.
@codrinnnn3 жыл бұрын
@@ianbirkettactionmedia412 spacers on what like inside the bb set to put the 2 things on the parts, or for the spindle?
@codrinnnn3 жыл бұрын
i mean like you showed some spacers to make 68 go to 73, is that what you are talking about or you re talking about putting it on the cranks spindle/axle?
@ianbirkettactionmedia4123 жыл бұрын
The bb you have should already have spacers on it between the bb and the frame. Then you may have to add spacers between the crank arm and the outer face of the bb so you can get a good chainline. Sram's website had a good diagram to explain it better than I can.
@sergiogutierrez60913 жыл бұрын

@@ianbirkettactionmedia412 i was reading a website about "gear inch" which is an indicator to use when selecting gearing ratios: www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_g.html#gearinch . from this site it shows a calculation you can do to make the gearing feel the same for different wheel sizes. Profile says that the typical "gear inch" measurement should be 55 so for a 26" DJ a 25x12 would feel like a 20" BMX bike with a typical 25x9 configuration.
