HOW TO SWAP SPRINGS IN A G BODY!!!

So a lot of people have questions or don't know how to swap springs in old cars. This is a way you can do it in one night. I do use a lift but I've also done this in my driveway with a jack and a jackstand . Please keep in mind this can be dangerous and should only be attempted if you have some idea of what you are doing.
I would highly recommend have someone else there to help you.

I have a 73 Riviera but the GM products don't change that much and this vid was completely relevant, i was a little terrified of the springs. cross fingers tomorrow they pop out!

I used to do it the same way you're doing it. Until I learned it from a seasoned mechanic, And that was having the car on the lift. Next place a tall jack stand under the rear of the control arm. Slowly lower car onto stand and carefully remove rear control arm bolts and carefully raise car and remove spring.Much better than using a hammer and pry for front removal.

To hold the rubber in place I use some zip ties or electrical tape to hold it...

Simple tip, ratchet strap loosely around let’s it fall out of place but not across the room. Enjoy your wrenching and the whips but be safe. 84 monteSS

I went really low on my car at first and I rubbed really bad on hard bumps

I got new stock springs for the front of my monte. I didn't even put them in yet . I like new parts.

I can't imagine trying to get factory height springs back in. These lowering springs are bad enough

Buy a spring compressor and be careful. It's not a fun job to do.

I saw on another channel that the tight end of the coil on the rear goes towards the bottom. Here, you have the tight coils at the top. Are you confident in the tighter coils needing to be at the top of end of the mount? Honestly, I have no idea, just hoping for direction.

I am 100% confident that the tight coil goes to the top. The longer coil goes into the slot on your lower control arm.

The Easier way is to just take the lower control arm bolts out. Avoids damage to the ball joints and other components.

Then I guess jack the control arm up and rebolt it? If this is what u mean I will have to try it

If you are tossing the old springs, why cant you just cut it in two places with a Sawzall?

there are 2 holes in the lower control arm, the lower coil needs to sit between the 2 holes

I just took a set of these off my 87 SS with KYB shocks. The car spun so bad on the line. Not enough front end travel.

This regal is more of a street cruiser so we are just doing basic stuff to make it cruise nicer
