What’d you figure a gen 3 with hbeams and stock rods would be good for? 7-800whp be safe?
@BOURBONANDBOOST12 күн бұрын
@JmanPerformance we have pushed them to 800 but we try to stay around 6-700 to keep them together. The main. Thing is watch when u put the timing in under power. To much timing at the wrong time will fold a rod
@JmanPerformance12 күн бұрын
I’m sorry I meant stock pistons with h beam rods. Gapped to like .030 to keep the rings open
@BOURBONANDBOOST12 күн бұрын
@JmanPerformance if u r putting aftermarket h beams rods in it then probably over 1000 depending on the rod. We pushed a stock gen 4 rod and piston over 1000hp. It actually made 42lbs of boost on stock rods and pistons

@CentralCaliMotorSports i can tell u that the 4l80e depending on what you are doing can get a little expensive, but it is worth it. I've been super happy with the 80 in my car. Makes it so nice to drive around.

Did you do anything with the body mounts? Solid spacers or anything? Thanks.
@BOURBONANDBOOST28 күн бұрын
@garywithfamily5245 i do run solid body mounts on almost all my cars. This car actually has solid body mounts that we had milled down to bring body closer to the frame, helps make it a littlebstiffer but after doing it I wouldn't recommend it. Made it hard to get stuff to line up

This is interesting but don't forget that in 78 atleast an El camino has the older spindles like the 77. Then in 79 all G bodys had the same. Wildwood has a direct bolt up dual piston caliper kit with pads I used that works. Called the dual D154 front caliper kit for under $400 caliper and pads. Not bad if you ask me. I also got the Wildwood 1 inch bore master cylinder and proportion valve that comes off it. Will need to relocate the washer fluid reservoir. Still putting it together. Having issues because the stock has 1/4 and 3/16 brake lines. Will have to modify that if you get the master cylinder. Will update after and also have the drum brakes in rear but wanted to not lock up the rear drums which it did under strong stopping with 255 rear tires and 235 front.

I used to do it the same way you're doing it. Until I learned it from a seasoned mechanic, And that was having the car on the lift. Next place a tall jack stand under the rear of the control arm. Slowly lower car onto stand and carefully remove rear control arm bolts and carefully raise car and remove spring.Much better than using a hammer and pry for front removal.

Paint was ok, but starting to pit so its been stripped and primed. Had it about 5yrs now. Didnt have its 1st ding until I got it. Now it has a small door ding, and a bend in front fender. Ordered bumper ext just now for it. Cant wait to get it going.

Crazy just seeing this channel and by 2nd video I hear my big traction control idea. Ive thought for a long time, that if you swap to blazer brakes, why couldn't you just use the OEM tone wheels in them. Most efi set ups should allow some sort of traction control. Blazer tone wheels and trans speed sensor. Drive shaft sensor is probably a tad more solid info sense it won't matter what the trans is doing but either should work. Time to buckle down and get my Great Value grand national on the road asap.
@BOURBONANDBOOST10 ай бұрын
It absolutely can be done. You do have to have a little sensor in line to make it work but it will work. We have actually been to busy to hook mine up yet but from other cats my buddy Steve has wired we know it works good

I'm betting it's a voltage issue. A lot of transbrake solenoids need a minimum 14 volts. 12 volt system can usually do it, but it's always iffy. Make sure wiring is up to snuff. I build racing th400s and have seen this issue before. Be best to go to a 14 volt battery system or even 16 volt. Especially if you're only racing it and go to alcohol and smart coils.
@BOURBONANDBOOST10 ай бұрын
I don't disagree with voltage issue with all the wiring issues we have found on the car. Right now it's getting a complete rewire including trans wiring, refresh on trans with new brake and internal dumb. We are go na try to get the car up to the standards that we perfer
@funfun809510 ай бұрын
@@BOURBONANDBOOST 👍 14 and 16 volt are big improvements over 12.
