You said you welded some type of bracket for the rear brakes, do you have to do that with the Monte Carlo ss 87 as well or straight bold on… stock vehicle.

Great video! Consider doing a video on your trailer receiver/Chute mount combo on you DnD car. I’m currently building a custom receiver for my 85 SS for some Midwest DnD events this year and the off the shelf Curt units won’t allow for exhaust out the back. I like how yours ties into the chute mount to help support the hitch lever arm.

I will happily measure it and let u know. in my opinion it is a little too narrow. I bought the truck with it already done and now having a hard time finding a wheel for a reasonable price that will at least come flush with bed. I would definitely go a little wider than what I have.

I would look at magnafuel pumps like the prostar 525. If running e85 etc, you will want to drain and blow out the lines in the off season. I also put a bit of oil in them when sitting. I have had one fail in 10 years and have magnafuel on most of my projects. Big complaint is they are very noisy, but if the pump is on a switch, you will never walk away and forget to turn it off. lol

I'm having a LS1 5.3 Gen 4 installed in my 87 Grand Wagoneer at this time. I just learned about this DOD business. The engine is supposed to be a rebuilt to zero miles. My question is: Is the DOD delete automatically done on a rebuilt? Should I have it done before the install goes any further? Right now it's just sitting on the mounts, no tranny, no radiator.
@BOURBONANDBOOST2 ай бұрын
@davidfarrar3666 if it has dod then I would delete it, if it has not been done. When rebuilt it does not have to be taken out but alot of people do take it out. I would make sure it was already removed because the dod lifters are pron to fail.

This is interesting but don't forget that in 78 atleast an El camino has the older spindles like the 77. Then in 79 all G bodys had the same. Wildwood has a direct bolt up dual piston caliper kit with pads I used that works. Called the dual D154 front caliper kit for under $400 caliper and pads. Not bad if you ask me. I also got the Wildwood 1 inch bore master cylinder and proportion valve that comes off it. Will need to relocate the washer fluid reservoir. Still putting it together. Having issues because the stock has 1/4 and 3/16 brake lines. Will have to modify that if you get the master cylinder. Will update after and also have the drum brakes in rear but wanted to not lock up the rear drums which it did under strong stopping with 255 rear tires and 235 front.

I used to do it the same way you're doing it. Until I learned it from a seasoned mechanic, And that was having the car on the lift. Next place a tall jack stand under the rear of the control arm. Slowly lower car onto stand and carefully remove rear control arm bolts and carefully raise car and remove spring.Much better than using a hammer and pry for front removal.
