Hi, it is straight forward. Top tip is to check and double check that each section is securely fastened together as to put them up the chimney. The last thing you want is for the rods to come off!
@MyTing7758 ай бұрын
Good tip. Take photos of how your firebricks assemble before taking them out. Some stoves can be quite complicated and a nightmare to put bricks and baffles back together.

Yeah, that's a good tip. Thanks for your comment!

@@FixitwithFowler no worries 👍. Can I ask you do those cassette/inset stoves give out much heat ?

@MyTing775 not as much as a free standing one

A friend of mine cleaned his chimney using this kit only for the brush bit to get stuck top of chimney with five of the rods. Best to gaffer tape the joins in case any of them pops out.
@FixitwithFowler2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jamie, on these particular rods, they mechanically fix together. If they are installed together correctly with the pins fully engaged, they can't come apart. However, if you have any doubts then there is no reason why you couldn't use gaffer tape.

Curious on how he got the rods out again, just thinking of getting this kit 🤔

Ciao , sono uno spazzacamino da20 anni, hai fatto tutto molto bene, però non ho capito L utilità di smontare il vetro dalla porta? Serve solo a rompere il vetro più facilmente!

Hi Harry, thanks for your comment and a bug thanks for subscribing. The chimney typhoon is really good 👍. I have put an amazon link to the brushes in the description.

Point to note on this particular kit is the plastic head is actually quite big. Bought one and the head will not go up through the actual fire. Plus the rods are flexible but just not flexible enough. Sadly mine was a waste of money and is now redundant in the box.....
@FixitwithFowler Жыл бұрын
Mine was perfect for my chimney. Even though the opening is only 5 inches, then it opens out to 8 inches. You do have to remove the baffle pkate and chimney damper, but that's nothing unusual.

same for me, new burner installedby a friend's friend, 4.5kw,a Tee joint at back hence a 90 degree ∪ which is impossible with rod, cannot turn too. So, study your burner before buying.

What are the chances of damaging a flue when you use a drill to spin the rods?
@FixitwithFowler3 ай бұрын
Mine is a solid flue so it has no liner. A power brush is used by most chimney sweeps now!

how well would this work on a new titanium liner? Thank you!

Im not sure, mine is a traditional clay lined chimney. You could always look at the reviews on amazon and decide if it's right for you. amzn.to/42KlPIL

10:58 Did the brush head just fall off??
@FixitwithFowler Жыл бұрын
Ha no, Martin. I was just being careful as at that exact moment 10.58, the head just came into the stove, and i didn't want to damage the plastic cover. It has made a brilliant job of cleaning the chimney, and if you double-check each joint as you assemble the rods, you won't have a problem.

Great video but I wanted to see what it had got out the chimney 😩
@FixitwithFowler Жыл бұрын
Hi, it shows you at 11 mins some of the debris left behind, but for some reason, i must have removed the bag. The kit is definitely worth getting if you intend to sweep your own chimney. We had traditional rods, but this typhoon kit is far superior.

Do yourselves a favour and use a professional chimney sweep. Why spend a small fortune on a stove then shove some cheap shit up the chimney to clean it. 🤷♂️
@FixitwithFowler Жыл бұрын
I've used traditional brushes, and as most modern chimney sweeps use power brushing now, this is no different. My chimney is a solid traditional chimney, not a cheap liner, so it cannot damage it!
