Food for thought: you could tie the skirt with the same wire, leaving the excess towards the top. Leave enough wire material and bend toward the hook point to serve as a weed guard.

Swim jig fishing has become some of my favorite fishing. Especially when you find out the little tricks and stuff you can do with one. I guess when you can fish it more advanced is what I’m trying to say. That’s when it becomes really fun. Cool jigs bro!

My dad does everything pretty much just like you do. I remember back in the day my grandpa would make spinner baits and the skirts were like big rubber band looking things that would cut and it would split into the skirt. That was ages ago and can't remember exactly how it was done.

Wow Debo, I have never seen that process before. That was really interesting. I have only used a jig for crappie. I have only recently started hardcore bass fishing and using plastic worms and other artificial bait. I need to get some 4/0 jigs and yours look awesome. Those look awesome! I could definitely see those getting munched. If you have issues with hanging up you could definitely drill a small hole and add some thin wire like the Zman weedless Ned heads. Use a little JB weld to hold them in. We for sure need to see you put these to work!!

You can also use a small fine file to clean up the heads... just takes a few strokes to remove any casting overflows after snipping.
