How to switch 88 98 OBS chevy V6 motor mounts for LS conversion THE EASY WAY

We believe that we did this the easiest way. If you are LS swapping your 88-98 Chevy truck and it is an original V8 truck then you're good to go. If you have a V6 truck, you need to switch your stock mounts on your frame out for the V8 mounts that go on that same truck.
Tools you'll need:
24mm socket and wrench. You can make due with crescent wrenches if that is all you have.
15mm deep socket if you remove the top shock bolt.
15mm wrench to stick inside the frame to hold the mount nuts while you loosen the bolt up top with your 15mm of choice.
A floor jack, or two if you have more than one it may be easier.
Jack stands to hold the truck up while the front wheels are off.
Lastly we suggest having a helper. This makes taking the mount hardware off much easier and aligning the control arm back into its spot.
If you'd like to see more on our LS swap build on our 95 Chevy truck, check out the channel and subscribe to keep up as we move forward on the build.

Hey all, I just changed the motor mounts on my 91 and I found a way to change them out without messing with your suspension. First off, I had the engine out. Im sure it’s a lot harder to do with the engine still in lol. Anyway, you take a 10” extension, a 3” extension, a universal, the socket, and a ratchet, all 3/8” drive. You can fit all that up through the frame between the frame and lower control arm bushing. It does take a little maneuvering but once you get it on the backing nut, loosen the mounting bolts and bam. I changed mine in 15 minutes a piece. Hope this helps out!

Gary, he’ll yeh that works with those 3/8” extensions. The top one was a little tricky but they all came out easy enough Thanks for that info No way I was gonna take my front end out to change them.

No need to do any of that, just use a 1-1/4" hole saw in the front of the cross member, then use a box end wrench to put each nut in place. Old trick from Camaros, cutlass, Malibu's, s-10, to various 2wd trucks. Don't have to touch the suspension at all.

Hey I'm here for some information if anyone could help. This video was very helpful while trying to learn how to get those mounts in. I have a couple questions. I would be trying to put a 70s 350 in this model of truck is it basically the same situation with those mounts as an LS engine just different engine mounts? Another question is would there be clearance for the oil pan or would a different oil pan be needed due to v6 and v8. I would assume not since 4.3 and 5.7 are the same engine minus a couple cylinders. Also would it be easier to use a TH350 transmission or would the manual 5 speed. I'm not a complete rookie but I'm definitely not a master mechanic either.
