Running away is a great plan unless of course the person with a knife or gun runs much faster than you and unfortunately for many victims the criminals turned out to be much better runners than the victims.

That is correct, The point of the training for survival is to decrease likelihood of death. If someone is trying to kill a person the person will probably be injured with proper training the person can keep themselves alive and stop the threat if that’s what they are trained to do. Our training specifically is designed to help people survive against violent criminals that have intention to kill them.

I’ve been caught in a knife fight and I didn’t have a knife. Instinct tells you to grab his wrist, but after that I feel that it’s up to the individual. I kicked his knee backwards, but he drug me down with him and got me a few times. I got to get up and leave, so that’s how that ended. 2 days in the hospital and 18 stitches. Didn’t hurt all that much. Adrenaline is one helluva drug.

You are confused between fake sports and martial arts and tv shows and real life. When you are faced with a situation of survival your life is on the line and if you do not stop the threat you will lose your life. If someone has a knife or a gun you should expect to get shot or stabbed if you want to survive you must decrease the number of times you were shot or stabbed and you should attempt to keep your vital organs from being exposed to the knife or gun fire. This is what we do for a living protect companies and corporations and protect ourselves last. No one we have protected over the past 27 years of been murdered and none of our 3500 team numbers have been killed. We have been shot and stabbed because we’re dealing with actual killers in Detroit but we also understand trauma wound care which is why we did not die when we were shot and stabbed. We stabilized and wounded and transported ourselves to level one trauma hospitals.

Don't go in not expecting to get cut though, if you think you won't get cut you'll instinctively let go the second you feel the cut, go in with the mindset of taking the knife away regardless of whether you cut yourself or not. I still have the scar across my palm but I did get the knife away

@DetroitThreatManagementCenter
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter 2 жыл бұрын
Not that you know because you have no experience but for your edification yes people with knives often freeze especially when they are faced with someone who is attacking them when they thought they were the attacker. Caused them trauma as they realize they are in danger you don’t know this because you’ve never attacked an attacker. If you had attacked an attacker like we have you would see them panic and begin to think about self-preservation which is normal when a predator of any type is faced with resistance that is significant. As far as Video is concerned it is chemistry to you and anyone else is interested in how they can increase their survivability in a situation faced with a person with a knife or any kind of dangerous implements in their hand so they can take it from their hand by understanding the movements biomechanically required to strip some thing from someone’s hand. This case it has a knife it could be a screwdriver a syringe we have had to use these kind of techniques for many situations. If the knife is moving you make it cut if my knife is not moving you might also get cut this is why we teach there any time that you manage a knife related situation you should expect to get cut the point is not to get cut more often so that you can reduce the likelihood of your death or the death of others. If someone stabbed a person that would not change the reality of what Hass to happen next would you must get the knife out of the hand it does not matter if someone got stabbed or not what matters if you get the knife out of the hand.

This is not sport training this is survival training and in a survival conflict you will be lucky to be alive at the end of the conflict. Getting cut is a be expected in fact when people are stabbed to death they are commonly cut many times prior to bleeding out slowly and dying eventually. The point of our training is to decrease your likelihood of dying when someone is trying to kill you and the way we do that is by teaching a Tactics that we have used to preserve our lives and the lives of others that we know are simple practical and effective and will definitely increase your survivability more than guessing and hoping or using sport techniques in a survival complex situation

You are Correct, we teach that you should always expect to get cut the point is to reduce the number of cuts you receive. In reality I have disarmed mini knives and I have never been cut but I always expected to get cut. Our team members have been stabbed and at no time did we ever stop dominating those threats and no time did we ever get killed by those knife or bullet wounds by violent attackers.

Have you come across such situations in real life? Any like this
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I have had to disarm knives guns and improvised weapons. We have been protecting communities and corporations in the inner city for the past 26 years. None of our staff members have been killed and more importantly none of our clients or the thousands of people we have volunteered to protect. We have had approx. 3500 team members in our program over the past 26 years. 6 of our team members have been shot and approx 10 of our team members have been stabbed or kaze rated by edged weapons. We teach people based on what we experienced in force of forced conflict with individuals and gangs that were violent and armed with intent to kill us or the people we are protecting. We teach that you should expect you cut if someone has an edge weapon and intent to kill the same is true when dealing with farms engagements especially active shooters. I have not been cut in any of the situations where I had to disarm knives but I was expecting to be cut.

@DetroitThreatManagementCenter
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter 2 жыл бұрын
I have disarmed knives and many of my team ever said disarm knives and I did not get cut ever some of my timbers did you cut but it was prior to disarming the knife. This training shows you how to get the knife out of the hand it is not how you will get a position it’s just showing you principles of how to extract it from and the knife to be covered in your blood at the time you may have been stabbed once or more times your family or could’ve been stabbed if you were a person just helping someone the victim Kevin stabbed multiple times the point is you need a way to get the knife out of the hand you’re not going to get the knife out of the hand by punching people we know that because we have experience in managing violent Attackers tried to kill us and others around us over the past 27 years. The bottom line is you should always expect to get cut and that is what I teach every civilian, private security and LEO that works local,state and federal law enforcement.

FYI- Everything taught is real and we have used or training for the past 26 years to prevents murders in DETROIT and other communities. the only people that don’t realize it is real are people that have no real experience with real violence in real life. Sports and artists are not experienced in real life violence with real life killers. They could but they won’t go out of the sports fighting gyms and dojo and dojangs to risk their lives using their training to protect people from violence in the real world. They could volunteer to protect people in damager just like we do here in DETROIT, but they do not and they will not ever put their lives on the line to protect any communities globally. Why????

I got a question… Why do you places your left hand on top of your right fore arm as you hand back the knife over to the “aggressor”?
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter 2 жыл бұрын
This is training their is no aggressor because the disarm has been completed. This is not really a violent criminal he is a tactics training er and a law enforcement officer that has trained and taught martial arts for many years before joining Detroit Urban Survival Training. This is why he was given the knife back after the tactic was taught. If the knife was not given back then we would not be able to continue training and we teach many tactics so we have to give the weapon back so we can continue training. I hope this answers your question??????

@DetroitThreatManagementCenter
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter 2 жыл бұрын
Yes normally they do have another hand and the other hand does not matter because when you move with speed and intention the other hand does not have the ability to stop the action. Speaking from experience in successfully disarming many people both gang members and violent individuals.

I never met an attacker that allows this to happen, yes this move is very practical and is absolutely possible but you can’t act like you can’t/won’t be cut in the meanwhile. Done het me wrong, rather be cut in the hand then stabbed in the gut but you act like everything you teach is is picture perfect.

Resistance makes it more painful in training and results in avoidable injuries. In real life disarms have been very fast and because the agressors were always shocked by our intensity they were never able to resist in a way that inhibited me or any of our 3,500 + team members that have successfully disarmed attackers with knives & guns over the 26 years. Resistance makes disarms faster and more dynamic because your entire body involved. We are reaching on video so you can learn what you need to know about real life conflict because that is how we tested our tactics against violent armed individuals and gangs in Detroit and other communities in other cities states and countries. We have no trophies colorful belts or fancy sport art traditions only survival tactics that have been proven to work in the real world.

What about other knives like a switch blade, bc couldn’t they retract it in that situation?
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter
