My little turtle got sick. She was the weak one since I got her. While her sister was getting big, she stayed the same size. I took special care for this poor little thing and she's fully recovered now!

My turtle showed the same sign as yours! And I quickly separated him from his brother I washed his contained in where he was going to live to get better. I went to pet smart and bought the things you suggested I just placed him in and he is resting right now I’m also going to change his water every day like you suggested.

Yayyy you got a turtleee🐢! First of all, you need a water heater to keep the water warm. 75-86 degrees in Fahrenheit is the ideal temperature. You also need a heating lamp (make sure it's not melting hot lol. test the temperature first before you install it to the tank) and UVB light that prevents the bone disease. Make sure the tank is not too small for the turtle! And just like HamAndCheeseBrocollis says, don't overfeed turtle and do cleaning once every a couple weeks. Try to use water conditioner to keep the water clean and free from bacteria. These are the basic stuff you need.I hope this helps you! 💖 I'm sorry for the late reply x3

Hello there. My turtle also got sick by respiratory problems like yours.. It’s been 3 weeks I thought.. I couldn’t bring her to vet earlier due to COVID-19 spreads and yes, I brought her to the Vet 4 days ago and was given an oral antibiotics prescribed by the Vet. I placed her in a warm dry dock but I don’t know how to feed her anyway.. she just wont eat. She seems energetic yesterday and yes I do a mistake by putting her into her usual tank 😭 Now she keeps sleeping but still breathing, I keep her dry docking while giving her a warm UVB light but it’s not a Nomoy’s lamp because it’s somehow too hot. May I ask you, is it normal to Nomoy UV Lamp to be so hot? I have a quite similar lampshade like you..

Hello, my red eared slider became super weak today and i cant see the problem. He was doing amazing but overnight he just became so weak and even me touching him wont get him to move. Also he sometimes opens his mouth wide open, if i put him in the water he will just float there not doing anything

Hmmm. Did the temperature of water drop? Turtles become very inactive when the water is cold. It must be around 75-80 degrees in Fahrenheit for turtles to feel comfy. They just sleep throughout the day if they feel cold.

Heyy. I found a red eared slider outside my home. I kept it because it was dangerous for him to stay outside without any food. He was fine for a few days, very active as well. But I have noticed that his eyes are closed. When I put him in water he easily open his eyes. When he is outside of water, I spray water on his eyes so that he can open his eyes. Is there any puss coming out? Or do you see any extreme dryness? A proper tank setup is very important. It must have a lot of water to swing around and a basking area where he can go up on the ground to get sun bath during day time. When they are basking, they close their eyes to take a nap. Also, if possible, provide a water heater to prepare for the cold weather. The water temperature must be 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. It will prevent sickness. Also a UVB light to prevent the bone disease, and a heat lamp for basking. These are the basic 'must to have' stuff for the turtle tank. I hope the turtle isn't actually sick 🥺🥺🥺

It's prolly too cold for turtle. Do you have water heater? The water temperature should be around 75-80 degrees in Fahrenheit. Also a heating lamp+uvb light outside for basking is essential. Since your turtle is already sick, make the water temperature a little higher, around 78-85 degrees in Fahrenheit. Make the water shallow. The water level should only goes up to the top of turtle's shell since sick turtles can't swim well. I suggest you to get the vitamin for the turtle. Check out the video description and you will see the vitamin. It says vitamin for turtle eyes, but it's great for sick turtles since it contains vitamin A that sick turtles need. Feed the turtle a couple drops a day by using an eyedropper or syringe. I hope your turtle gets well soon 💕

There are many possibilities that turtles don't do basking. If either water is too cold or the outside air is too cold, they won't do basking. The water temperature must be around 78-85 degrees in Fahrenheit. Turtles that are breathing with open mouth has the respiratory problem. Does he grasp to breathe? Do they eat at least? Try to set the right temperature for them and give the vitamins. I have a link in the video description for the vitamins for turtle eyes. It contains a lot of vitamin A that sick turtles need. The vitamin stuff I used in this video definitely helps turtle. However, it seems like your turtle is in a serious problem with a bacterial infection. A rotting shell is a bad sign and might need a vet visit. Also, make sure to use a water conditioner in the tank to keep the water clean. I hope your turtle gets well soon 🙏

I'm sorry to hear that your baby turtle is going through a tough time. About the discharge around the head and neck area, is it thin and translucent? It might be just skin shedding and that's perfectly normal for turtles. If it's thick and heavy and looks very abnormal, then it might be a fungal infection from unclean water. Hiii. So sorry to bother, but part of my 1 year old turtles hand got cut off. Its a tiny bit black and i think it might be infected. I have no idea how this happened but i think it might be my other turtle who is younger, bit him or i have a plat form for them to climb on, and it has holes so i suspect the turtles arm got stuck inside and when he pulled it out it kinda cut the hand. Yup, I used some drops and it definitely helped a lot!! You need to give her vitamins as much as possible in order for her to recover quick. Make sure the water is very very warm.

Hmmm well, the one in the video had darker skin color than other turtles. It's usually the lighter color if a turtle gets an infection and also looks swollen. 🤔

Try to do the carrot soak: boil a small carrot until it becomes smooth, blend the carrot with the boiled water, let it cool, add the carrot pure into some clean water, and place the turtle in it for a while. Or you can give him the vitamin supplement I used in my other sick turtle video (the link for the supplement is in the video description of the other sick turtle video). There might other causes such as bacteria in water, so try to use the anti bacterial fluid (i believe it's also in the video description of my other sick turtle video. The fluid name is "waste remover") and also use the product called 'turtle fix'. If non of these works at all, a vet visit is required. I hope your turtle's eyes get better soon!💕

It's usually from either cold water or lake of vitamin A. The water temperature supposed to be around 75-80 degrees in Fahrenheit. Managing water temperature can prevent the turtle from getting sick. Pallets should have all the nutrients that turtles need, so you don't really need to give vitamin A particularly. Have a basking area with UVB light and heating lamp to prevent the bone disease and healthy shell growth 🙂🙂🙂

Hello, Hokhy💕 The water has to be warm all the time, maintaining 80-85F. If you don't have the water heater, you need to change to warm water constantly before water gets cold. And the water has to be shallow because sick turtles might not be able to swim just like my baby turtle when she was sick.

Taking your turtle to a vet would be the best thing to do. but you did a good job. Note: putting turtle in cold water that suddenly changes the turtles boddy temperature can cause a pulmonary infection. this can occur in one or both of the turtles lungs. floating sideways,lack of appetite,gasping for air,stuffy nostrils and swollen eyes are all symptoms of respiratory infection and distress. soaking the turtle in a bath of warm natural carrot juice for an hour or so will perk the turtle up a bit. turtle eye drops can be very helpful as well. calcium and vitamin A are important for a healthy turtle. I have always used dr.turtle products for calcium and health conditioning blocks. feeding clean water mixed with a little pureed food water via a dollar stor baby medicine dropper may be difficult yet necessary at times but seek professional advice about diet and sick turtles. hope this helps. btw long nails in front are male. short stubby nails indicates a female.glad your turtle recovered. ☺🐢🐢

What's the water temperature? It's supposed to be at 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. If the water is colder than this, there's high chance that the baby can get sick. Adult turtles can handle cold water better than babies but they become inactive and eat less. Try to get the water heater(check out the video description for a link to the model i use for my turtels) asap.

It's normal for turtles to pop up their heads out of the water to breathe. However, chlorine might irritate turtles' eyes. They gotta live in the fresh water. Is there any way you can provide them some fresh water? Maybe you can get some water from a river and boil the water once lol.

Wookie Squad what kind of food are u feeding him? Its normal for semi aquatic turtles to bask for a while. As long as he gets in the water a bit each day id say he’ll be fine. But food wise u might want to get a different food. Mine loves frozen freshwater mysis shrimp! I also recommend pellets, baby shrimp, and mini krill. I feed mine a little mysis shrimp and a few pellets. Every few days i will give her a couple shrimp or krill. So maybe try this?

I live in Malaysia. I got a baby red eared slider a few weeks back. It was 1.3 inches in leght. VERY SMOL! At first he was all fine. He ate and so on. Now, he's practically just refuse to go into the water. In my place, it's almost impossible to find heat lamps and UVB bulbs. About last week, I realise that he wasn't eating at all and his mouth is always open. I try to find the problem but I can't find one. And so I let him be. I tried to force feed him. Thank God he does get some food. But just now, around 7 a.m., I realise that his shell has became soft. I'm panicking now. I do bring him out to bask under the sun everyday. So someone. Please help me. I don't want to lose my precious boy😭

Oh no...! That's not good 😟. He definitely needs more calcium and vitamin D if the shell gets soft, which means more sunlight or UVB light bulb to prevent the bone disease. Also, baby turtles need a lot of vitamin. Check out the link in the video description to see what supplements I used for my turtle. And make sure the water is very very warm. It's supposed to be around 78-85 degrees in Fahrenheit for sick turtles. It's gonna be a lot of hassle but you should boil some water and set it aside, change the water when the water temperature in the tank drops. Sick turtles can't swim well anyways, so make sure it's shallow. I know you mentioned that it's hard for you to get water heaters, heat lamps, and light bulbs. But all I can say is just try your best to find them especiallyhe in a criticalsituation. 😣 I hope your turtle gets well soon 🙏💕

And blend the carrot with that boiled water. Then add some of this carrot pure into water. Simply place the turtle into this carrot water.

Yes, but I suggest you to leave it out for a couple days before you pour it into the water tank. Or you can just use 'water conditioner for turtles'(check out the link in the video description)and use tap water right away. Both methods are to get rid of chlorine in tap water.

It depends on how sick they are. My turtle got cured in 5 days, some other subscriber's turtle took a little longer than a week, other turtle couldn't make it, and so on. There are several causes that make turtles sick and if it's some bacterial infection, you might need to treat it differently. My method is the basic treatment for sick turtles. If your turtle is in a serious case, a vet visit is the must. 😣 I hope your turtle gets well soon💕

That sounds like bacteria infection. It's either because the tank has bacteria or it's not getting enough basking. First of all, use these products called 'waste remover' and 'water conditioner' (links are on this video description, so you just click on them to see those products). They help removing bacteria and keeping the water clean. And make sure he does basking long enough a day under the heat lamp. I hope your little guy becomes healthy again soon!!🐢

@@hid904 Oh you have other turtles in the same tank? You probably wanna separate the sick turtle from them just in case if the turtle is sick and it's contagious. Give him a smaller space for now and watch him carefully. Try to feed the turtle some vitamin supplement that contains a lot of vitamin A. I have a product in the video description called 'vitamin for eyes' but it actually contains a lot of vitamin A that sick turtles need. Give him a couple drops by using a eyedropper per day and see if there's any improvement. Check out my other sick turtle video if you need to see how to give him vitamin supplement.
