Sick Turtle Care / Treatment

I recorded how I treated my little tiny sick turtle. Basically, I separated her from the tank temporarily because she wasn't able to swim in deep water. And I raised the temperature in her temporary tank so she feels the coziness. Since there's no water filter and the water is very shallow, I changed the water every day to supply fresh water. Also, I gave her a vitamin supplement twice a day. Her sickness got improved a lot faster than I thought and she was able to go back to her tank within a week. I'm so happy she's healthy now!

My sweet friend, thank you for taking such good care of your turtles. Do you plan to upgrade the size of their tank soon? It looks like they are just about ready for something bigger. Also, may I make a suggestion? I would remove the fake plant and purchase some live freshwater plants, such as anacharis. You will love watching your babies float in it to sleep and play, and sometimes they will even take a bite and eat some of it. It’s very healthy for them, and it also helps to eat some of the bacteria in the water! The best of luck to you and your sweet turtles ❤️❤️❤️

Very nice! Just some friendly advice: your water level is a bit too low for your turtles, they really like to swim and dive, it needs to be + 2.0 - 2.5 x the height of their shell. They grow fast. Other than that, you have happy turtles, keep up the good work. Peace and Love 🖤

Usually, normal temperature should be around at 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is lower than this, turtles slow down activities and eat less. Baby turtles can get sick easily at around 60 degrees or lower. When the turtle is sick, it should be warmer, which is at 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit. I hope your turtle gets well soon 💕

Gave him a carrot soak would make him better.. Separate him from other turtle in the tanks, swollen eyes would mean he has a respiratory problems :(

I'm sorry for the late reply. All I can say is be very very patient lol. What I did was I placed the eye dropper right next to the turtle's mouth and waited until it opens its mouth. A little light tap around the mouth works too 😓

Oh no...!! Is there another turtle in the same tank? Make sure the wound won't get infected! Use a product called 'Turtle Fix' in the water to prevent the bacterial infections. If there's another turtle in the same tank, you need to separate them. Also, try to use the vitamin stuff I used in the video. Vitamin A is very important for turtle health. Try to place the turtle in a smaller tank with shallow water. Make sure the water is clean all the time by changing the water every day. Make sure to use the water conditioner to get rid of chlorine. Here's a product I recommend to use for your turtle: amzn.to/3KdvnU1 Add this to water every time you change water following the instructions in the back of the product. If you don't see any improvement within a week, please take the turtle to the vet asap! I hope your turtle gets well soon 💓

It's prolly the eye infection. It's very common for our little turtle friends when they are lacking in vitamin A. Try out the product i gave my turtle (the link is in the video description). I'm not sure if there's any other symptoms but it might be infected. Keep the water clean (if you are using tap water, you must use the water conditioner to get rid of chlorine) and watch my other video on how to take care of sick turtle and just follow the direction. If you don't see any improvement within a few days, please take him to the exotic vet. I really hope your turtle gets well soon💕

It's all about patience. It took me 30min to give my turtle the medicine 😂. I just waited until she opens her mouth. If your turtle hasn't eaten at all, make some carrot puree and feed it with the eyedropper just like the way you give her the medicine. Simply boil a little bit if carrot, blend it with some boiled water until it becomes smooth paste.

Hi there, my baby red ear slider is having respiratory infection and his back portion keeps floating due to which he is not able to dive. I am giving him soak in antibiotic water. What else should I do to stop her floating.

Because if the respiratory information, he can't submerge into the water. Is the water cold? Sick turtles need to have water temperature around 85-90 degrees in Fahrenheit. @@adityathakare7997 I really suggest you not to use human medicines or vitamins on any pets. The dosages are totally different and you might overdose your pet, which will make everything worse. It must be followed by the guidance of vets or specialists. It's better to get vitamins for the specific pet and follow the instruction.

I'm so sorry for your loss 😢. I totally understand how you feel because there was a moment when I thought I lost my baby turtle too 😔. Maybe your turtle was very very sick that couldn't be treated.. So, don't blame yourself. You did your best and tried so hard. 💖 I'm sure your turtle is in a better place with no pain..!💕 The fluid I used in this video was a vitamin supplement, which is shown in the video description with the link. Lack of vitamin A is one of causes that makes a turtle gets sick. Vitamin supplements are the great support for sick turtles, especially when they are not eating at all.

reem Puta more if your turtle keeps using its leg to scratch its eye then it’s irritated . if the eyelids are swollen over to where you can’t see his eye then it has an eye infection. left untreated and it can cause a respiratory infection

To be honest I’m having a hard times to give medicines and vitamins to my baby turtle too. Since mine got respiratory problems and only open her mouth whenever she took some big breath, so it’s really scary to feed her medicine. I’m scared it would go into the wrong tube and make everything even worsen :(

Is the water cold by any chance? The water temperature must be 76-80 degrees in Fahrenheit in order to keep them healthy and active. Cold water can cause sickness and turtles tend to sleep more and eat less. Turtles in wild can survive in cold water, but these are pets that living in captivity and many can't survive 😣. I feel so sorry for your little turtle that lost her dear friend 😭😭😭. RIP, little turtle friend 😔🙏. Also, provide her some carrots. It contains vitamin A that turtles need. Do you also feed her the turtle pallets? It should have all the nutrients that turtles need. I hope your turtle becomes cheerful again soon 💖

If your first turtle was sick, there is a good chance that your second turtle has the same sickness. It is important to act fast so that this one does not also die. She is correct, the water needs to be warm. They also need to be able to get out of the water on to something to bask. They need full spectrum UVA/UVB light. Their water needs to be over 75° if they are babies, and make sure it’s not boiling hot. The basking area needs to be completely out of the water so that they can dry their shells off under the light, but make sure the light isn’t too close to the basking spot, otherwise it can burn them. Just like the sun and how close it is to the earth, if it was any closer, we would all burn up, but if it was any farther, we would freeze to death. Same thing here with your turtle and it’s basking light. Also make sure that the turtle can’t climb out of your enclosure after he gets onto his basking spot so just take precautions remembering that they can climb. They need clean water, warm, proper diet, a place to get dry whenever they want to, and the drying place needs to have this artificial sunlight I mentioned. These can live to be well over 70 years old, so if your baby turtle dies, that’s not because it was meant to die young. Something went wrong. If you don’t already have these, please buy a water thermometer for the water in his tank, and one of those thermometers that you can point to his basking spot to see how hot it is. It’s very important, these are things that will kill a turtle if it’s not done right. Good luck to your special pet!

Is the water cold? If the water is too cold for turtle, they tend not to eat and become less active. Make sure the water temperature is at in between 75-82 degrees in Fahrenheit by using the water heater. Also, try to give him the vitamin supplement for eyes because it contains a lot of vitamin A that sick turtles need. I have a link in the video description for that product, so please check it out. Not eating for one month is critical and needs to be fixed asap. I hope your turtle gets well soon 😣💕

Hello🥺 pls, may I know the name of the yellow liquid medication? And if u know what type of food I also can put it in syringe to try to feed my turtle.. I'm sorry for what happened to your little turtle friend 🥺. The fluid I gave my turtle in the video is actually vitamin supplement. I left a link in the video description. Make sure the water is around 78-85 degrees in Fahrenheit. You can use the water heater or just constantly change to warm water before water gets cold (this is so much hassle, so water heater is preferred). And don't put too much water since sick turtles can't swim well and they will be drowned. Just a little up to the top of the shell will be fine. You can give turtle some carrot puree with the eyedropper. Boil a carrot until it becomes soft, blend it with a little bit of the boiled water. It gives more vitamin A for the turtle (sick turtles need a lot of vitamin A). I hope this will help you and your turtle🙏💖

@@tonismith1259 Please keep the water very warm around 78-85 degrees in Fahrenheit(water heater is needed). Also, the water has to be shallow, the water level should be a little above the shell, since sick turtles can die from drowning. You can get the vitamin supplement from the pet store. The most reason they get sick is because they are lacking vitamin A or are exposed to cold water all of a sudden. You also need to keep sick turtles in a shallow warm water at 75-80 degrees in Fahrenheit. I hope this helps your little turtle💖

@@janhavipande555 it might be the respiratory system problem. Try the vitamin supply i mentioned above because it applies to all sick turtles, not just for those who have eye problem. Vitamin A is essential especially for sick turtles. If the turtle's symptom doesn't seem improved, you will need to take it to the vet for some professional support 🙁.
