How do you drill holes in acrylic cases to make them suitable enclosures, both without cracking the panels or leaving burrs?
@lostInExotics
@lostInExotics 10 ай бұрын
You can buy a drill bit that’s rated for acrylic. They’re shaped differently to make it easier to drill into it. In the video, I just used a new drill bit and made sure to let the bit do the work. You don’t want to press down as it can crack the acrylic. As for the burs, you can use a deburring tool or a round file. If you want to avoid burs altogether you can use a soldering iron to melt holes it looks cleaner but sometimes leave those long stringy residue which you can easily remove.

I got 3 Avic Avic from Fear not Tarantulas. When picking them up they do come with their enclosures. So even if im a bit nervous about no cross ventilation, they have been in the dram viles awhile so im watching them closely. After spraying the sides it dries withing 2 days. The space heater i have will keep the room at 76, however if i go above 74 the Avics use their dram viles as race tracks so im assuming they are stressed and have been keeping the room at 73. Is that the correct train of thought? Their stressed when they are not chill? Also with feeding does the rule of thumb, there abdomen should be as big as their head still apply like adults? Think the 1/3 wax worm is a bigger meal for them then I think. Right now they are around 3/4 inch seem to be doing really good.

They should be fine in those dram vials for a while. How big are the vials? As long as you air out the stagnant air in those vials they should be okay. The #1 cause for avic avic death is stagnant air. You can remove the lid for a few seconds a few times a week to air out the stagnant air if you don’t have cross ventilation. By race tracks, do you mean they’re actively roaming around the vial? They’re most likely looking for a hot spot where they can bask. Avics are from the carribeans so temperatures can reach to a high of 92F and a low of 70F so anything between should be fine. These tarantulas actually are able to thermoregulate and will burrow to escape the heat that’s why under tank heat pads are no good because they dont have a way to cooldown. The rule of thumb is for feeding live prey. If it’s pre killed they will scavenge for food when they’re hungry. The reasoning for that rule is if the prey is bigger than them then they can overpower and potentially bite back. If it’s pre killed before feeding then it won’t be an issue. I hope I was able to relieve your concerns!

@@lostInExotics the viles are the 50 mills i believe. I do drop a few drops with a pipet on their web every 3 days or so. Watch for the water droplets to dry and give it a day or two befor adding more. Mist half the vile once a week and add 5 drops of water to there substrate once a week also. Its like they are stretching their legs but I worry those little viles are stuffer then the room of course. At the higher Temps they are building there webs as well. I got wax worms and got sent various sizes (1/4, 1/2, and adult 3/4) red runners. ( The adults are to start a colonie) was thinking of dropping in live 1/4 but they'll probably fall to the bottom and who am I kidding, took me 10 minutes to figure out how to catch one of those little suckered lol. Bottom of those viles would be impossible. Was going to try my vagans as well but they of course are skittish and ones in premolt, the other one molted Nov 30. And yes thank your for calming my fears. Watched so many videos and they do a great job with the husbandry, but they never go into the fine details like what DOSE a dehydrated t look like? How can you tell they are stressed, and other little details. Mistakes and failures are life's greatest teachers but you can forego that by learning from others ya know.

@@stephaniekline7823 Yup it does get stuffed in there especially with no cross ventilation that’s why it’s important to air out the stagnant air. I could see how troublesome feeding arboreal are especially having a roach loose in their enclosure but I can assure you they will hunt it down if it’s the right size. My Versicolor chased a cricket on the ground. If you have worries about feeding them then you can pre kill it. They will eat it when they’re hungry. I agree with you. Mistakes are a good lesson but hopefully not to the extent of a sling dying. I try to get as much detail in but sometimes there’s just a lot that I tend to look over. If you’re wondering how a T looks when dehydrated, I have a short video of my tarantula that was super dehydrated. I rescued it from a pet store. They tend to walk weird and wobbly and their lugs curl down
