thank you for your video. so do you think if I put some lavender sachets near my sweaters that will be sufficient to keep moths away? I had had a cashmere sweater before that was in my closet and there were holes in it but I didn't put any bug repellents at the time. And do you think food on the sweaters increases chances of bugs making holes in the sweaters?

Hi! Loved the video, do you mind sharing what garment bags or boxes you recommend to store wool/cashmere? Had no idea moths were attracted to this and had an occurrence of moth larvae. Live in a nyc apartment so don't have a ton of space. Appreciate any help!

You can hang a cashmere & wool blend overcoat right??
@Kay-lc4ku Жыл бұрын
I do mine, I think a coat is much thicker & sturdier than a sweater so hanging it wouldn't deform it :)

The laundress just discontinued the wool and cashmere shampoo. I’ve used it for years. Is baby shampoo a good alternative?
@BeateMyburgh2 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa I didn't even know. Thank you for letting me know. I am going to buy a spare. I've heard people use baby shampoo; I haven't tried it myself. I used to use Woolite (very good option). I think Delicate (Lady) wash by The Laundress is also a good option. Woolite: amzn.to/3MqNDsv Delicate Wash: amzn.to/3xRTP8J :)

Hi, thanks for the video, very structured and complete. I just have one question. I recently bought an electric lint remover (fabric shaver fuzz). I intended to use it in my favorite cashmere jumper and before to give that step I would like to consult you if this is a feasible option or it will damage the fabric? Thanks in advance!
@BeateMyburgh2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I have not used an electric shaver in a very long time, but I know many people do with great success. I suggest starting in an inconspicuous place (such as the armhole) and seeing how it works, before continuing over the entire piece.

Great video. I have a couple cashmere sweaters. Hardly worn, one I've worn once and it now has small holes right wear its completely visible. I'm so sad. Over the past couple years I've been trying to be conscious about my purchases. Where would I get the bar soda for storage?
@BeateMyburgh3 жыл бұрын
Hey Linda, I'm so sorry! The holes can be from bugs; try use lavender or soaps in between your clothing. I don't know what you mean by 'bar soda'?

Just washed my cashmere sweater for the first time after wearing it in winter. I have one more to wash and scarf and a hat also. I have that comb although it feels like it’s too sharp or I don’t know how to use it correctly…
@BeateMyburgh2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Watch a few videos on how to comb it before starting (and start with a small section that is not too visible). For example at the armpit. Here are two more videos from brands I trust: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGbKZ4qdgsyblac

Hi Beate, thanks for this video! Would you use the same way of washing and maintenance for merino wool clothing? Also I was wondering, since I have a few merino wool tshirts, how often would you wash those? Since you wear a tshirt straight on your body (unlike a sweater where you wear something underneath it usually) i tend to wash them every other day but i think that may be way to much maybe. Thanks for your informative and practical videos!
@BeateMyburgh3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nina Thanks for supporting the channel! Yes you can wash your merino wool the same way as in the video. The t-shirts: I propose a few test runs. First, you can leave it out on a drying rack or chair over night (fresh air through the item is even better), that could potentially get rid of any odor as animal hairs are self cleaning to a great extent. Secondly you can try using a spray between washes such as: www.thelaundress.com/wool-and-cashmere-spray-4-fl-oz.html to prolong the cleanliness. If you've taken these steps and still feel it needs a wash then do so with a wool/ animal hair detergent. Good luck!

Ok i’ll do that, thanks! 😃

I am a knitter and can say that the actual top-quality fiber cashmere sweater costs a lot - between 500 and 2000 euros. Even though, I know a lot about delicate wool care, I still recommend giving the items to dry cleaner. Maybe wash it once or twice, to fluff up the fibers even more, but then only dry clean when needed. This way The item will last for many many years instead of 3-4. But of course, if you buy a low/middle-class cashmere sweater that costs between 150-200 euros, maybe it's okay to wash it at home. Still, I knit my own sweaters and only buying yarn costs me at least 300 euros, so I give my items to a dry cleaner :)
@BeateMyburgh Жыл бұрын
Very cool! I recently bought yarn to knit with (as a hobby). I bought a brand called Rowan. I am still waiting for it to arrive. Do you have favorite brands/ stores you can recommend?

Hey I know this is completely unrelated and you probably have done something about this already. I noticed that one of your finger nails is developing a bit of a clubbed shape. If you have not, I would recommend you speak to your doctor as this is one of the signs of lung, cardiovascular, or even a liver condition. Sorry to bring it up, but, in the slim chance you haven't get it checked on and it wasn't caused by trauma, I thought its better I say something and you catch it early.
@BeateMyburgh2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for your concern. Luckily I know what it is, my finger was cut off by a gate when I was five years old. So it is trauma from many years ago. Luckily the doctors attached the fingertip, but it looks different from my other fingers. 🙂
@Omar-kw5ui2 жыл бұрын
@@BeateMyburgh oh wow. I'm glad they managed to reattach it, it honestly doesn't look it at all, I would have never guessed. I also had a similar incident with a gate closing on my finger at 2 years of age. Luckily my finger didn't completely fall off, it was still attached by some soft tissue, but I still have a very deep scar across my finger from that time.
