I really like the Kokoist brush cleaning gel. I find it doesn't stiffen up the bristles like regular gel does. They seem to stay more flexible and conditioned.

That’s on my purchase list! I saw it has no photo initiators in it so your brushes won’t cure 🙌🏻

Thank you. I've been using hard gel and didn't know how to clean the brush to get the rest of the color out. Now I do.

This was really informational good to know I can always put it in boiling water! I’ve had 3 of my brushes some how got smashed by the cap/lid and it’s hard to fix it other than putting gel on it and putting something heavy like a book but that method didn’t work well lol. Thank you Katie!! 😊

When I first started using hard gel I watched Liz from The Nail Hub and she recommended putting a little color on the end of the handle and cure it. I thought it was a great idea so I decided to do the same. I made specific brushes for glitter, super dark colors, lighter shades and one for white and creams. I also have separate brushes for LE's builder gels. I love LE brushes but I have a few of Kokoist liner brushes and they are pretty good. I won't buy a brush if it doesn't come with a cap either because I've ruined a few cheap ones from Michael's. Thanks for all your tips and now I want to try the hot water trick to see if I can't fix a few of mine. I love your videos tfs.

I’ve tried the hot water trick to help fix one of my gel brushes that I don’t want to get rid of. It worked great for a little, but I just need to replace the brush. Lol 😂 My favorite brushes currently are the ones from Madison at Southernly sweet nails, & the Akzentz 106 brush. I also like to keep a tiny bit of color or glitter at the end of a brush so I know what colors the brush is for. I also keep a separate brush for shimmers as well as glitters.

What brush do you use for your overlays? I've been using the Kokoist round gel brush, which is amazing, but I'm curious what you use. I also like the daily charme round gel brushes for potted gel colors.

This is the brush I’m currently using. For no other reason than it’s just what I already had in my drawer. 😄 magpiebeautyusa.com/products/detailer-brush-glitter-handle?_pos=3&_sid=51f225330&_ss=r

What is the “clear gel”?? Base coat? Top coat? Does it matter if matte or glossy?

If you’re working with a sticky gel like a poly gel what alternatives are there for alcohol or acetone To keep the gel from sticking to the brush?
@NailsByKatieDutra
@NailsByKatieDutra Жыл бұрын
You would need to use whatever solution is made for the polygel, it usually does contain some alcohol to keep the polygel from sticking.

I wish the Kokoist brush cleanser was HEMA free because it is almost perfect apart from that. I'm curious why it has HEMA though since it's an adhesion ingredient.

Where wpuld be the best place to learn about and learn to do gel nails, of course other than cosmetology school? Good to know avoid acetone, cause they taught us to use it.

You’re going to have to use some sort of polish remover if using regular polish. ❤️
