On 8, partner can always cue with 2S with a maximum pass with H support, so I think he is more likely to have the sort of hand he did have, than the sort of hand you would need for game.

That was my thinking too, I don't know if the robot does this but I feel passed hands should cue raise aggressively here

First time in all these years I matched you board for board. I was sure you were going to find a way to avoid the 4H bid on 8. Thanks as always.

I stopped on a dime in 3H on the last board and somehow made it, getting 100%. 57% overall.

Rather less successful when I pushed to 6D on hand 5, two down after misguessing clubs. Then, possibly influenced by overbidding one hand, I underbid the next and just rebid my clubs and played there.

Peter - can you help me on this hand ? My partner bid 1NT - I had 16 points with 4 spades so bid stamen. Partner bid 2 spades so of course easy 4 spades contract. What I didnt know is what to bid after 2 spades to indicate interest in slam. What do you think I should have bid ? 4NT ? - is that automatically asking for aces ?
@BridgeWithPeteАй бұрын
A common agreement people have is bidding the other major at the 3 level agrees the first one and is a slam try. So 1NT-2C-2S-3H. 3H would just say spades are trumps and I'm interested in slam, nothing about hearts.

OK noted thanks.

4NT would have been quantitative in this sequence, NOT blackwood

Interesting that you mentioned 4th suit forcing as looking for a stopper. My understanding is 40 years outdated so I think of it as partner wants the conversation to continue without fear of getting dropped in a bad spot. 1S as 4th suit is a corner case and I'd be nervous as their partner and wondering if natural with 6+ (still forcing), or strong without a better bid. There are only specific shapes by partner where 1S isn't natural and might instead be covered by agreements on jumps in NT?
@jyutzlerАй бұрын
The bots play a jump to 2S as showing a GF with spades and a 4th suit of 1S showing all other GF hands.

1. What do you think of raising to 2NT instead of jump shifting? It failed horrendously here because the bot found a diamond lead, but I don't like jump-shifting with a semi- balanced distribution. 8. I did not like your raise here. With no shortness, where is your source of tricks?
@BridgeWithPeteАй бұрын
If 2NT was forcing I would do that. I like 2NT to be a GF without a 5/5 shape but the bots don't play that.
@jyutzlerАй бұрын
@@BridgeWithPete Huh, okay. I thought it was pretty normal for 1M-1NT;2NT to be 17-19 balanced, non-forcing. OK, I guess I'll abandon this approach in the 5=4=2=2 case, presumably because it makes the 4-4 heart fit harder to find.
