I would suggest shopping for a folding bicycle that can meet most of your touring needs. With a folding bicycle, due to its ability to fold and smaller tires (20 inch tires), the bike can fit in a suitcase that only looks slightly larger than a normal suitcase. I had a Dahon Speed D7 folding bike that I wanted to bring with me to the PH. It fits snugly and nicely in a suitcase that Dahon formerly sold for this bike model. It was called the 'Dahon Airporter suitcase'. This was back in 2006 so I'm not sure if they still sell the suitcase. Anyhow, I managed to get the bike to the PH with no extra fees and with no need to disassemble anything. I've heard a standard hardshell suitcase will do but you'll need to take the wheels off and certain other things. For your mountain treks, you should experiment with folders next time you bike to Baguio and maybe do a Baguio-Sagada part two with a folder. You'll need lots of low gears for climbing the mountains. I currently have a folder that is 30 speed (Solorock Dash). It has an internal 3 gear rear hub and a 10 speed cassette. I haven't bothered with getting a smaller crank in front (for climbing) since I also have a mountain bike (regular size). Folders aren't for everybody so you just need to try it out and see how it goes. Once you learn to accept the limitations, it will be your constant airport companion.

HI, We met you few years ago at Trexplore shop in Samar. It's a pleasure to follow your adventures. We've just finish a bike trip from North Cape to Malta (6 month biking) and we plan to bike another tour from Laos to Philippines via Cambodia, Vietnam and HongKong. Packing our bike is a huge challenge to us. Thank you to share your experience. 🚲✈ M@rcel à C@thy

In your case, Miss Lim as a blogger who loves traveling with you're own bike. It would be much better to invest in a hard-case bicycle bag to secure your bike and make it more comfortable. But as you said, check the logistics and airline policy. Before doing so, to avoid headaches in the future, thank you for the video and take good care. Happy New Year!

If you know what I usually bring, you know that I cannot fit panniers and stuff to a bicycle case 😁
