A teacher tells the class: 'In some languages a double negative is an affirmative. But there aren't any languages where a double affirmative is a negative.' And someone from the back row yells: 'Yeah, sure.'
@Simppu128 жыл бұрын
To be fair, 'yeah, sure' is a double affirmative with a positive meaning. The only reason why it also has a negative connotation is because it is often used in a sarcastic way.
@enriquealonso63168 жыл бұрын
i dont know If you have heard the song from foreinger "dirty white boy", the song gets one double negative phrase : "I dont drive no big black car", One time I asked why, an a teacher told me that thats the way black ppl talks on the streets, then, es talking about he´s a dirty white boy, (meant he were a poor white boy from the streets, trying to emulate they way they talk).

Lol 20 years ago, 'Peng' meant 'potent' or 'strong' because it was a term used to describe a particular kind of Skunk Cannabis. It then became 'good' or equivalent to 'dope' (as used in hip hop idiom) and then beautiful. Language and slang changes.

Jade, you are the real Londoner. You are the stereotype of the real Londoner. Also your look is very "Londoner". When I was in London (I lived there for 7 months) I tried to mock the Londoners by imitating their pronounciation... One day, a girl was offended, by the fact that I was trying to imitate her Londoner pronounciation, and she said that actually my pronounciation sounded Australian...

Excellent Jade. Thou it’s not black and white. I was born in South East London near Lewisham and when I go north of the river for example “Hackney” the accent is slightly different to mine thou I think I may also have a variation called “Council Estate” twang. It is harder speaking with a London accent as it can be confusing when spelling due to the phonetics of your spoken accent. Would I like to speak posh.Probably not as that is not me or my personality but would I like to speak correct English. The answer is “Yes”.
@somegirls20028 жыл бұрын

It's always a reduction whenever a new accent pops up, usually resulted from and proliferated by people not being able to move their tongues properly, some of them not even native speakers of English that perhaps learned a little bit of English once moved into a new environment but hence immediately decided not to further engage.

Hi Jade, I'm 45 and I would like you to tell me about any link or video in which I can hear people of my age in order to acquire an appropriate accent as you suggest in other video, you know, I do not want to sound weird. I have learnt English since I was 5 and the last English class I had took place in 1987. I notice that my English is some kind of conservative, but not posh. Thank you Jade.
