I must say that I don't see where the problem is about talking about politics and keeping friends. In my group of friends ( we have been friends for almost 15 years) we can't meet without talking about politics, and no, we don't have all the same opinion, we even provoke each other picking up political topics we know that are sensitive. The problem is not about the reciprocity, because you need to be able to speak up and you can't just be waiting for "your turn" to speak because you should understand it isn't a debate it's a conversation, and you can not be shy about your point of view. Because unless you think that your role in a democracy is just being the passive subject of law, you need to participate in the discussion and by participating in the discussion being part of the decision making process.

Amazing speech the divide is deep and scary. Blue & Red definitely support this project. Its hard to start a dialog, but it's very important

Because no one cares about learning how to respectfully debate....everyone just talks above each other and the loudest one "wins"

This mans speech is so mind-numbly simple and common sense obvious the fact he has to have it shows you just how terrible the human race is at simply talking to each other about anything which matters. Furthermore, his speech would wall on deaf ears if heard by most in the masses. Most aren’t interest in listening or keeping friends, they are interested in themselves and hearing themselves talk. They don’t care if no one is listening. I think it boils down to the powerlessness the average person encounters to actually change the world on their own, and the denial they live in that they can’t. They do not see they only way they could truest change anything is to work with others. In the denial they presume the only way things would change for the better is when everyone listens to them, and they don’t need to listen to anyone else because everyone else’s ideas a wrong. They assume everyone else’s ideas are wrong because they don’t give the benefit of the doubt to others intentions. Humans are complicated…

Sad how times have changed. Now not only can't we speak our minds, consider other perspectives and new information, and respectfully agree or disagree, now roughly 1/2 of us aren't allowed to speak at all.
