To me the proportions of Blake's suit jacket seem off. The sleeves seem a bit too short and the top button looks too high. Just my opinion

can you talk about tailoring jeans and cargos. also, i have decent size arms but t shirts dont fit well on my arms, should i get the sleeves tailored?
@leonardschumann92127 жыл бұрын
if the sleeves are long enough, roll them once or twice, it usually works for me.
@watchrob777 жыл бұрын
Good job, have a thumbs up. I'm currently getting a custom suit made from scratch at a trusted tailor of mine. It's insane how many different options there are (canvas, etc, lapel stitching). Can you do a video on going to a tailor for a custom suit? Fundamental things you should always ask for in your custom suit?
@kermit17 жыл бұрын
Great video, although I think Blake's jacket sleeves are a little short. It looks OK when his arms are straight but once they are at an angle they look a bit short.
@gentslounge7 жыл бұрын
I think it's his shirt sleeves being too long that are affecting the look.

Great video, Should've used either a lighter suit or used a lighter background to see the details of the suit.
@nicholasmartinez90303 жыл бұрын
What if you have a large chest but small arms. I am 5'9 but wear a 46R/48R so sleeves are always an issue as far as being very long.

Great video! I've actually been looking into buying a sewing machine to do slight modifications to my clothes. Simple things like adding darts, tapering, and hemming. Do you two think that's a good thing gentleman should know? There is just something so rewarding about working with your hands.
@gentslounge7 жыл бұрын
If you have the time and the extra clothes to learn we definitely think it would be worth it. We actually cut out a part of this video mentioning we should just learn how to do it ourselves and we would save a ton of money. -G

No offense, but the "tailored" suit looks too tight with too short sleeves. The darker suit looks good, even though it's not altered.
@gentslounge7 жыл бұрын
I'll agree that his shirt sleeves may be a tad long but the suit sleeves are where he like them to be. It's all personal preference when it comes to tailoring. -G

It seems, that the waist of the tailored is a little bit too small. You can see it stretching.
@kongmw7 жыл бұрын
They definitely over did the waist. It's so pulled so tight that the shirt is showing. Not a good look.
@cam7eron17 жыл бұрын
Definitely, its way to tight in the waist, too short, the sleeves are too short and the shoulders are showing the beginnings of bunching (jacket is too damn small!).
@Trotsky19817 жыл бұрын
Not to mention the buttoning point is ridiculously high, the jacket is too short and pants too tight in the thigh. These guys don't have a very good understanding of fit or proportion so it's hard to take their advice seriously. But their videos are well made if nothing else.

Like you say, better to have an off the rack suit that's already reasonably dialed in, so that the tailor will need to do less. Still, a lot of suits the sleeves are too baggy too much material in the upper back below the collar. Also, the pants legs are usually too wide and not tapered . so regardless, best to have the tailor tweak to your taste.
@ginofornaro91977 жыл бұрын
Could you guys do a video on how you found your tailor. Did you do trial and error and what to look for in a proper tailor. Great video btw, keep up the great work
@gentslounge7 жыл бұрын
Gino, Friend recommendations, yelp reviews, and trial and error. Best to take a test pair of anything in before trusting a tailor with your expensive stuff. Thrifted, old clothes, or fast fashion options work great for this. -G

Guys, when your tailor shorten the sleeves length, does he do it from the shoulders or at the end of the sleeve?
@gentslounge7 жыл бұрын
Usually at the end of the sleeve. That's why most off the rack suits don't have functional buttons so they can just move them up easily. -G

I would never buy bigger shirts, your collar will be to wide, especially if you have a thin neck, look for brands which fit your neck-shoulder-arm proportionen well, the body will often be way to wide.
@gentslounge7 жыл бұрын
For me, what fits in the neck and shoulders is huge in the waist. -G
@leonardschumann92127 жыл бұрын
that's what i mean, the waist is even on slim fit shirts, in which i can barely fit because i have 39" chest, cut very wide sometimes even the hip area, which makes tucking them in untailored neatly impossible.
